Just seen in the paper, that we have only ever won 3 out of 18 first games games of the season in the prem

Not terribly confident for this one. Think Newcastle will be a much better team this term. I know we won 5-0 overall against Vitesse, but for long periods they enjoyed a lot of possession and could have scored if their strikers had been better. We certainly can't afford to be giving the ball away as we did so often over the 2 legs.

in both games, we gave up more possession in our half and in front of our back 4, than we would have seen in a long time.

 

I hope that is just a pre-season thing and not an indication of things to come

Pretty sure that's it isn't it? We beat Leeds 3-1 but was in the championship. Those are the only 3 opening day wins in any league for us since 1988

That's the only 2 in the prem.

 

The only other one we have had since 1992 was Leeds in 2011 in the Championship.
