Injured, again

Jack Wilshere: Arsenal won just 22.2% of the PL matches which Wilshere started last season compared to 69% of the games he did not start

Seems to me to be massively over-rated, even when he is occasionally fit to play.

Can't believe that Wenger can't see it.

A Schneiderlin or Wanyama could turn them into genuine title contenders. Trying to play Wilshire in defensive midfield is laughable. He's a ming vase.

Lol

Don't go giving them ideas about Wanyama though, you never know who might be reading this :suspicious:

Made of candy floss that Wanyama bloke, no strength, bambi-legs, can't even stand up in the wind!

Even if its not, he only has 2 to select from.

Does seem very injury prone, but don't agree that Wilshere is overrated.

His two goals for England were quality but if he was a horse they would have shot him by now.

Problem is they are the exception rather than the rule with Jackie boy. Bit like Andros Townsend an occasional fleeting glimpse of quality in England shirt helps to hide the utter dross the player puts in the other 90% of the time.

Has shown flashes of brilliance but never able to get a run of games and show he can do it consistently so i'd agree he is overrated based on what he's actually done.

Injuries really have hampered him though - from angelmans post that's 13 injuries in the space of 6 years amounting to about 29 months of missed time which is practically 2 1/2 years! You wonder if he ever will manage to reach his full potential or not. Still only 23 years old mind.

Gunners dont play to his strengths, he is a very direct player would suit a counter attacking team or a team that dont pass a trillion times in the goal area before taking a shot at goal..............

He is not world class, but he is a top player though, just needs to stay injury free for a couple of seasons, i would say he is an advanced playmaker, sitting behind 2 strikers playing a 4 1 2 1 2 diamond formation would suit him best.

Both ankles! Even when fit though he doesn't exactly light the place up.

If he wasn't English he would be rated nowhere near where he is.

He may have his moments but what use are they if he's almost permanently on the sick bed?

Posted
Are we interested in signing him or something?

Nope, but Arsenal were supposedly interested in signing Morgan/Wanyama and didn't/haven't.

You have to wonder whether a lot of such injuries are more in the head than the limbs. Some people grin, bear it and play on, but others take the sick role when they've got a niggle.

Feel sorry for him really - every time he gets fit for a period of time he picks up another knock.

Don't agree that he is overated though - i don't think many are claiming he is world class but he is a very good player.

England don't have too many like him - playing with his head up, retaining possession well - that is what gets exposed every tournament, so i totally understand why he gets back in the side as soon as he's fit.

He's clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed though - i always think one of the impressive things about our academy grads is that (in general) they come across as intelligent and well educated too, which makes for a better player. The likes of Oxo, Theo and Bale are great examples, as well as JWP now.

Agree with the above. He is actually a decent player, when he's not on the floor or moaning at the ref.

Must be incredibly frustrating to have the talent and continue picking up bad injuries. What must it do to his spirit.

No doubt that Wilshere is made of balsa wood and injury prone however what is it with Arsenal's medical department - when is the last time they managed to successfully diagnose an injury and predict a return to action that wasn't at least 12 weeks wrong

Appreciate he is constantly injured and as a result, has never delivered on his potential, but not quite sure why this latest news is funny?

Luke Shaw had an injury hit season last year and now this, and no-one's laughing at that.

I don't take any particular pleasure in other team's players getting bad injuries.

Don't think anyone is laughing to be honest, but Wilshire hasn't just had 1 particularly bad injury hit season. It's been for the last 5 years. He's only 23 and has missed 119 weeks of football - that is just insane. The worry is that it's always the same sort of injuries. Fractures, ligaments, ankles. He's just got a weak structure and the sad thing is that he'll probably never fulfill his career because of this.

A few Arsenal fans I know have had enough now, they wished they'd have taken the offer they had from City in the summer.

The laughing comment was directed at mcbendy as much as anything.

I'm in agreement with what you say - the injuries are recurring it seems and when you see him out smoking etc, it doesnt take much to jump to a suggestion they might be to do with his professionalism as much as bad luck.

A real shame for me, i do actually think he could be a great player if he stayed fit and showed the right attitude - we don't have many players like him from an England perspective.

I've always liked him as a player, he's quite a rare player in the English game - very technical and silky on the ball, someone the England team could do with on a regular basis - but seemingly not possible!

I agree that his smoking habits and other habits aren't great, and I'm sure other players do it as well...but when he's having as many fitness problems as he is having, then you do have to look at his lifestyle as well.

Wilshire runs on the outsides of his feet, he is quite bow-legged as well. Because of this he's putting extra stress on his ankles, knees, thighs and hips. Add this to his style of play - meandering runs, constantly getting tackled, it's no wonder he has so many injuries.
