Any update on Clasie ?

I was trying to be kind.....

At least he won't get donkey noises like Pelle did beginning of last season.

Give the fans some credit, Pelle was getting those about two thirds of the way through last season as well. He's no Rickie Lambert you know.

Shame really, bad way to start his PL tenure. I hardly recall him ever being injured before though, so this is new. Then again, a quick google of Clasie and Memphis shows a pic of both on a holiday, and the comparison is unreal . It really shows Clasie needs to beef up a lot if he wants to compete in the PL. So maybe this has all to do with him not being used to the physical aspect of English football.

Got a really funny feeling we might have another Gaston on our hands. Which is a shame as I really like the look of Clasie and want him to be a star for us.

One clear difference is obvious: Clasie's attitude miles better. He is a fighter.

Also nothing you can really do when someone falls on your leg like the City guy did.

Sadly it wouldn't surprise me if even they were in better physical shape than the average Eredivisie player. But I was referring to training. I'm sure the difference is very noticable not just on the pitch but on the training field as well.

Same happened with Marco van Ginkel, came to Chelsea as a skinny lad straight from the Eredivisie and immediately picked up an injury.

What just because he's picked up a couple of injuries?

Think a few people should actually look at what happened to Clasie on Monday night. Not many players would have come out of an accidental incident like that without a similar problem, nothing to do with fitness, and nothing to do with his hammy either, just pure bad luck. All that said, he did not look anywhere near PL fit before he got injured on Monday. He will be though.

That's the spirit. He's had a fair crack to prove himself after all

On the Matchday Uncovered video he is seen in a cast and on crutches pre-match. Looks longer than 3 week injury to me...

As I said at the time, his foot was planted and a Man City player rolled into his leg - his foot stayed where it was and his knee buckled a bit. It's ligaments / tendons. No-one knows the extent of the damage but it's not something that you come back from in a week or two. He can likely move and run ok but it's the twisting and turning that is an issue and that is why his leg will be set in a cast so it can't move and no strain can be placed on the damaged ligaments / tendons.

Reed expects and wants a move to a club where he will get game time. He actually said he doesn't see much of a future here currently. Thought it was weird as he recently signed a new contract didn't he?

Disturbing news about "the best player ever to come out of our academy" Koeman just doesn't seem to rate him.

So how long before he is ready to come back from this ?

It depends on the extent of the damage and how quick his body is at recovering. It could be 3 weeks or it could be 3 months. Remember the Lallana saga from Christmas 2012? No-one knew how long he would be out for.

Watching him in the game before he was injured he was also clearly not fully fit anyway and still some way off being ready for the PL. Even when his injury is recovered he will still be 2 or 3 weeks or so off being available for PL action IMHO.

Clasie has a long way to go to achieve the condition required to play in the Premier League.

Not saying he won't achieve, but there is no quick fix to achieve condition.

Look at Ramirez

you saying we may have made a mistake signing him?

we needed Clasie to be pretty much good to go from near on the start of the season. not take half of it to get fit/up to speed

Did he tell you this when you served him at the drive through, or did you fall on your fat arse in front of him and he helped you get back on your flabby legs?

What we need and the reality are two very different things. Clasie's pre-season has been messed up, what with the transfer, his new offspring, his pre-season injury and then the injury in the u21 game which was being used to work up his fitness. Not his fault and not a mistake, just what happens sometimes. He will be good eventually but don't expect to see much of him before mid/end September. Unfortunately Bertrand is not much ahead of him, if at all.
