brett24 Posted 8 August, 2015 Posted 8 August, 2015 Would take a draw, but worry about our midfield defensively. Think we could easily lose tomorrow.
ericofarabia Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 (edited) With Williamson and Taylor in defence either The lego version or even The MLT of today would fancy his chance of a goal or 2 http://www.theguardian.com/football/video/2015/jan/29/matt-le-tissier-top-three-goals-brick-by-brick-video Just got to fancy Sadio to tear them a new one today. ericofarabia Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 A quick reminder of how the club were thinking last year, https://vimeo.com/109137855whilst all around were in Meltdown Mode .... #WeMarchOn
PhilippineSaint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Don't do it. You'll top yourself when the 8th goes in. A few years back home to Swindon. A mate had a decent bet on 4-0 to Saints. Probably the most gutted person in the ground when it went 5-0. Ended 5-1 but by then their late pen didn't matter.... He will top you when it is 0-7 too Saints
Saint_Tony Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Difficult one to call, think I'll sit on the fence and go for a 1-1 draw. Had a decent bet on Newcastle at 2/1, big price considering they are at home. Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
positivepete Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 They'll be fired up but I think this is a winnable game. Don't know anything about their new signings, but Mane will cut through their defence quite easily imo. My main worry is who will start alongside Fonte, don't think Caulker is good enough. They have made some good signings. The guy from PSV is a very good attacking midfielder, and they are planning to play the excellent Sissoko further upfield, so it is likely to be a tough day for our defence and midfield. Newcastle are however pretty weak at the back, so it could be a high scoring game. I really have no idea how this will go, but I am hoping that our two competitive games will give us the edge in preparation.
niceandfriendly Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 No game is easy in the Premier league Especially away at Newcastle Uneeted
DT Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I think Newcastle will be much better than expected, under McLaren, and with some good signings. I have us down to lose 2-1 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
marc_saint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I think Newcastle will be much better than expected, under McLaren, and with some good signings. I have us down to lose 2-1 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk They've had some decent signings but none of them are defenders and that's where they needed to strengthen. Hopefully Williamson will be playing as he's particularly shi*e!

Probably the most gutted person in the ground when it went 5-0. Ended 5-1 but by then their late pen didn't matter.... I remember that game. I was in the west stand and nearly took a beating when Swindon scored their goal as I jumped in the air and cheered. I had to explain I had put a bet on for us to win 5-1
Convict Colony Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I'm hoping for the win just to watch the True Geordie brain explosion 2-0 us
bilbot79 Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 When was the last time Newcastle beat us? Must be yonks ago. My first match was the 4-0 with J rod and Mr Nivea et al....aaaah great it was.

simo Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 (edited) I'm expecting an easy win tbh , I don't rate the wally with the brolly and their pre season form hasn't been good ,3 nil! Edited 9 August, 2015 by simo
bazza Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I'd be happy with a draw. They surely can't be as bad as last season.
Professor Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I'd be unhappy with a draw. Saints are the better team and although that's no guarantee of the result, I think they are better prepared than Newcastle and will have more confidence. Our strike power looks good so its really a question of whether the defence can hold out. Ryan Bertrand being out is a loss but if Matt Targett plays we should be OK on the left. Yoshi will probably be ahead of Caulker for the second CB place but I don't agree that Caulker isn't quality, after all, he was good enough to get an England cap and is more experienced now than he was then, and is still only 23.
ericofarabia Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Hoping for a big victory, as much for The True Geordies post match review as much as anything else
Saint-Armstrong Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 @RonaldKoeman: Good Luck for the Boys! #NEWSOU. Total confidence in the Staff and Players! #WeMarchOn

Saint Charlie Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Very attacking team. When we played with four attackers last year it always looked a bit unbalanced but certainly some firepower in that team!
lickierambert Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Blimey that's an attacking line up. Huge day for Victor
Bewildered Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Rodriguez, Mané, Pelle and Tadic all start, very attack minded line up. Too attacking for an away game?
ericofarabia Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Newcastle 0 - 7 Southampton. 500-1 odds at the moment. Fancy a cheeky tenner? Flip me ... with that starting line up and what's on the bench it might well be worth a shout!!
stevewanyamasfcs Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Mbemba and Coloccini start at the back for Newcastle.
Saint Charlie Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Unfortunately no Williamson for them but Colocinni starts and hasnt played any pre season games I don't think.
jamesfp1 Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Excuse whilst I print out that teamsheet just to drool on it..
mcbendy Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Excuse whilst I print out that teamsheet just to drool on it..
Olly Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 If that attacking lineup pays off we're in for an absolute treat.
Saint Garrett Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Slightly worried about Davis in there on his own. We played with 3 CM's last season, and we've lost our best one and lost one for an attacking player. This could end up 5-4. Big job for Davis today, he's more than capable.
SO16_Saint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 The Kevin Keegan style of play coming right up
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Big job for Davis today, he's more than capable. Not against anyone with pace or power, he isn't. Sissoko running at him will be
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Not against anyone with pace or power' date=' he isn't. Sissoko running at him will be [/quote'] That's what Wanyama is for!
Diabolus Ex Machina Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Like that attacking lineup. Think we will have too much for them and think they will wilt if we go ahead. First goal is crucial.
Wade Garrett Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Davis always struggles in a more defensive role. Would have preferred Reed.
CanadaSaint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I like the line-up - for this game, at least. What else should we do but target their weakness full-on if we have the players to do it? It needn't make us that vulnerable because I would imagine that the full backs, especially Targett, will have more of a "stay at home" brief.
simo Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Slightly worried about Davis in there on his own. We played with 3 CM's last season, and we've lost our best one and lost one for an attacking player. This could end up 5-4. Big job for Davis today, he's more than capable. I thought we played 4-2-3-1 most of the time
CB Fry Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Typically poor on day one, typically poor at St James Park. Perfectly acceptable one all to start with.
JoeShmoe Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Think will be a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-1-3-2 ? Mane and J-Rod running at their back 4 tho ....
Red Alert Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I think a win here would be huge. Would give the lads confidence they can go away and win in Europe on a Thursday and play away from home in the league and win.
Avenue Saint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Pelle firing, pacy mane and JRod playing off him, and Tadic say just behind pulling strings. Potentially strong. Potentially very strong...
