Batman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Who is our left back this half.? Way off the pace of the game
Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Second half dross so far. Not enough in central midfield. Would like to see Reed be slightly more ambitious with his passing, too safe at the moment.
Convict Colony Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 There just doesn't seem to be much urgency at all and I think we know what Reed/JWP in CM looks like now
richard Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 He already has a contracted job from Jan to June on a players wage. Why give that up and drop to a coaches salary. Plus Saints already have a number of keeper coaches Watson, Bartram & Flood. He might not have been offered a coaching role yet. Does he even have his coaching badges?
DrunkenSaint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Oh, Mr anti-Davis crawls out of his hole, still with his eyes wide shut. He speaks the truth though, when your playing with 2 defensive midfielders the 3rd midfielder in the 3 man midfield must support the striker! It happened a few times the other night where a few pull backs from Soares went to around the penalty spot area, no-one was running in from midfield into that position and that is what Davis should be doing.
Batman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Dire game of football. Expected I guess Mane looks as good on the wing as he does as a lone striker
St Chalet Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 He might not have been offered a coaching role yet. Does he even have his coaching badges? I love SKD, but I'd hate to see our younger keepers learn to become rooted to their line and get beaten at the near post.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Would be good to see Jay and Mane swapped over.
shurlock Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Lot of balls hung up there which Mane has no chance of winning (would have liked to see Jrod go up top). Say what you will about Pelle, we're very reliant on some kind of target man.
Coldridge Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Not been very impressed with Cucold Martina. Not expecting to see too much of him in the coming season.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Juanmi is good at keeping the ball when in tight situations.
Batman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Juanmi looks pretty decent. Going to be a good player Reed has no passing shoes on today
Yorkshire Saint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Juanmi looks tidy enough. Espanyol are a dirty bunch although that hard tackle on jay will be good for him. Chasing a game like this might be good for us in terms of experience of breaking a foreign team down who are holding a lead.
Wrensup Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Not been very impressed with Cucold Martina. Not expecting to see too much of him in the coming season. Makes you they we bother signing him
Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Central midfield signing our most urgently required IMO. Wanyama aside all our CMs have some pretty big limitations.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Our best finisher scores! Maybe play him in a position where he has more shots!
S-Clarke Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 We've basically got a £20m forward back in our team this year, not a bad upgrade.
Sheaf Saint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Nice one Jay. It's been too long since we've seen that, and it's more than welcome.
mulletsaint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Ref's finally had enough of all their cynical challenges.
S-Clarke Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Ref's finally had enough of all their cynical challenges. A seriously niggly dirty team.
angelman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Not really following this, especially as had too much to drink at lunch and the sun has zapped me, but aren't defeats (or even draws) more useful than victories in these sort of games? I really can't get enthusiastic about friendlies.
angelman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 https://grabyo.com/g/v/Spst9Hs3ItL Could have been a better clip than this official one!!

VectisSaint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Do think we need that CB in soon though, and another CM. Biggest thing for me is Koeman knowing his best team, or at least the majority of it. Juanmi, Rodriguez, Tadic, JWP, Davis all seem like they might be in and out for a while which doesn't make it easy. Intetesting, I think its pretty easy to see Ron's team with what we have at present - Stek, Soares, Fonte, Yoshida, Targett, Wanyama, Classie, Davis, Pelle, Mane, Tadic. We will sign CB to be ahead of Yoshi and of course Bertrand comes back in when fit, but can't see beyond this yet. JRod will be pushing but think Ron is still a little anxious to make sure he is OK. Good to have option of Juanmi and JRod, and also JWP as backup in MF.
Batman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 you can see why it kicked off on the field at reading. horrible side
mulletsaint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 A seriously niggly dirty team. Think we'd have won if the ref had carded it like a competitive match. They knew they could keep getting away with hacking us down everytime we broke the lines.
Norm Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 https://grabyo.com/g/v/Spst9Hs3ItL Could have been a better clip than this official one!! Thanks!
VectisSaint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Nice one Jay. It's been too long since we've seen that, and it's more than welcome. Think that makes 6 in pre-season friendlies. Not a bad return.
Hamilton Saint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 https://grabyo.com/g/v/Spst9Hs3ItL Could have been a better clip than this official one!! Thanks for that! That's a great goal!
Batman Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 bit of a 'meh' game. as expected really mish mash team throughout. Excellent goal from rodriguez. if he gets back to anything like he was, he is our best striker. you can see why it kicked off on the field at reading. what a horrible, dirty side
mulletsaint Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 you can see why it kicked off on the field at reading. horrible side Quite funny that we got the equaliser after what should probably have been a foul to them.
Saint Charlie Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 CB and importantly a CM with a bit of power and presence in and we are well set for a good season. Martina looks adequate enough for a backup full back (certainly better than Maya out there) and Juanmi should develop into a class player.
Saints foreva Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Martina will be a good addition to the squad if he performs like that.
Lorne Malvo Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Martina will be a good addition to the squad if he performs like that. Thought he did well, seems way better on the right than when I saw him on the left when he had to fill in, giving me a bad first impression!
Bewildered Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 CB and importantly a CM with a bit of power and presence in and we are well set for a good season. Martina looks adequate enough for a backup full back (certainly better than Maya out there) and Juanmi should develop into a class player. This, make those two additions and we have more than one good option in every outfield position.
Shance Posted 2 August, 2015 Posted 2 August, 2015 Anyone got a decent clip of the goal? The link above won't load up for me for some reason.
