Whitey Grandad Posted 23 July, 2015 Posted 23 July, 2015 Are we to presume he is not coming back? His number 22 from last season has been assigned to Stekelenburg I wouldn't think that would be a problem, I think he can have a new number. I might feel sorry for all those who had his name put on the back of their shirt.
doddisalegend Posted 23 July, 2015 Posted 23 July, 2015 Didn't realise, until today, that Elia played for McLaren at twente maybe he is going to newcastle...

Greenridge Posted 3 August, 2015 Posted 3 August, 2015 It's in Dutch, so can you give us a headline in English - ta. Looks like Feyenoord are giving him another chance now that they are losing Boetius. Or something like that.
Whitey Grandad Posted 3 August, 2015 Posted 3 August, 2015 It's in Dutch, so can you give us a headline in English - ta. I use Google Chrome so it's a right-click and select 'translate to English' Mon 03 Aug 2015 05:45 Right Winger be successor to departed Jean-Paul Boëtius Feyenoord is for Elijah by Marcel van der Kraan Feyenoord's former Orange International Eljero Elia attract as direct replacement for Jean-Paul Boëtius. The tip, which last season when Ronald Koemans Southampton got another chance but could not stay, can leave at Werder Bremen. Elia also has a regal job offer from the Middle East, which is well above the salary of a Dutch club would rise. But which party will quit now Elijah to take the time to look at an offer from Feyenoord. Dead end The right winger is in his German employer at a dead end. That is also the reason why he last season was loaned to Southampton. The entire career of Elia can anyway do with a boost. There has been much criticism of his lifestyle and his behavior off the field. The footballer has some of those stories always tried to talk to, but the best way to silence his critics is a long time to perform well the mouth. Dirk Kuyt That chance Feyenoord wants to offer him, provided that he gives everything. Five years ago, Elijah came in the World Cup final still within the lines, replacing Dirk Kuyt. A reunion with the Katwijker, which indeed make the most of his career, Elijah could do much good.

We have IE here in the office and can't download any software, even updates to existing software, so I can't use Chrome.

positivepete Posted 3 August, 2015 Posted 3 August, 2015 I'd go for the regal job offer if it comes with palaces and servants. The offer came from Saudi, I am not sure that is the favoured destination.

Saint Garrett Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 Koeman said today he wished him luck at Feyenoord
van Hanegem Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Feyenoord got him for free from Werder Bremen, they clearly wanted to loose him... I know you're glad that he's gone too but he should be a great acquisition for the Eredivisie. We don't have many players left who are still in their twenties and who have played abroad. It's quite remarkable that he has chosen for Feyenoord where he will earn 400K a year while some Arab club offered him 2.8 million. I guess he seriously wants to make a come back this year in order to get back at the level he was in his early career. He will get a big percentage of the transfermoney when Feyenoord sells him at the end of the season.

van Hanegem Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Hope he does well for you van Hanegem & Good luck to Feyenoord this season. Thanks SuperSaint! We have some other additions coming in soon and it looks like we're able to compete with ajax and psv for the championship. It's been 16 years and it's bloody well time to win the title!

We have some other additions coming in soon and it looks like we're able to compete with ajax and psv for the championship. It's been 16 years and it's bloody well time to win the title! Has the money you guys got from Saints been spent on new players or did your club need it to service debts and stuff? Having taken a couple of your "Star" players it would be nice to think you guys were able to improve your squad strength overall with the money (much as we did with Liverpool's cash).
van Hanegem Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Has the money you guys got from Saints been spent on new players or did your club need it to service debts and stuff? Having taken a couple of your "Star" players it would be nice to think you guys were able to improve your squad strength overall with the money (much as we did with Liverpool's cash). Luckily we don't have debts any more as we weren't able to buy any players (according to rules from the Dutch FA a club is very limited in spending money when there are debts...) for many years and we had to play with too many youth players who were fairly good but not capable to deliver for a whole season. We had some luck with players like Pelle who came in cheap and were sold for a lot more and now we're at least able to improve the quality of our players on the bench as we were regularly in trouble when a substitute was needed... We got van der Heijden (central defender from Vitesse), Kuyt and Elia for free and spended 2 million for Vejinovic as a replacement for Clasie so there is enough money left from the transfer of Clasie to get another back up for Sven van Beek and also a better central forward. So our thanks go to the Saints and we hope that Clasie will succeed at Southampton and that Pelle will do better than last season. Cheers!
