U18s were unlucky against Fluminese as keeper made some great saves. Saints missed a couple of good chances lost 3-1 but harsh scoreline. This years u16s look decent won today.

Thanks for posting that, always interesting to get a few bits of info on the nippers progress.

There was a lad from Toqruay Youth team who have been disbanded, on trial. Archie Thomas. Apparently Saints have offered him a 2 year contract after the game. He had been at Staplewood for a week or so being looked at.

Will Wood when he came on, Slattery unlucky with a great free kick brilliant save, Barnes put himself about, Hesketh will be good if he bulks up a bit more.

U16s were too good for opponents so will see but a couple of potentials.

How did the lad playing at centre back alongside Will Wood play when he came on?

Does anyone have the Saints U18 line-ups, please? It wasn't included on the OS

From the OS report and the above posts I've worked out 7 of the starting 11 and 6 of the 10 subs

Isted (sub Hallett at HT)

Langan (sub Gape)

Cvjeticanin (sub Wood)

Slattery (sub Little)

Olomola (sub Barnes)

Hesketh

Johnson (sub Wilkin)

Possibly 9 out of the following

Sims

Gallagher

Bakary

Clinton

Cook

Jones

Lea

Willard

Kayembe

Cull

Rowthorn

Musendo

N'Lundulu

There is a report on the OS U21 v Bournemoth OS report - albeit it once again omits the line-ups. It was against Bournemouth, BTW, and ended 0-0.

I wasn't there but can piece together from the OS report and Twitter that 10 of the starters were:

Britt, Cull, Gape, Rowthorn, Wood, Gallagher, Little, Barnes, Trialist, Mdlalose

There were at least 8 subs, 4 of whom were Isted, Cook, Slattery and Olomola.

Willard also played at some point. I would assume that Hesketh and Sims were probably involved too.

Maybe some trialists were also involved (there was at least one) which is perhaps why the OS is being coy. Or perhaps all the media team are in Holland and whoever wrote the report doesn't know all the names!

You missed out Siph Mdlalose.

You missed out Siph Mdlalose.

That's because I'd not heard of him and I missed his name when I originally read the report - thanks. I assume he's one of the new 1st year scholars. I see from a Google search that he made his debut for the U18s in April.

I've edited my post to include Mdlalose.

One thing, i find amazing with all the hype our academy gets is that they cannot get a shirt sponsor. Very poor really and overall the commercial area of the club isnt moving in the direction of being in the midtable of revenue where it should be now.

has the club been trying?...... or does the agreement with VEHO cover all the clubs teams ?

I've noted before that " trialists " in games are never named. They have to wait for that privilege until they are officially signed.

U18's got a tough game tonight versus Man Utd at Old Trafford in the FA Youth Cup.

Certainly will be tough, our u18s are near the foot of their table, finding it hard to score goals (like the first team) and with players unavailable due to being used in the u23s and injured. No wins in the last five. United are 2nd in their section, scoring about 3 per game on average. Lets hope for a major upset.

Quite an interesting comparison in the match reports on the respective club web sites.

The Saints one is well written and not too partisan

The author of the Man Utd report appears to be someone with limited journalist experience (probably a 'cub' reporter) who has no access to a copy writer as indicated by the various spelling errors and poor grammar.

Also it is quite condescending in parts towards the Saints Youth team.

I think the person behind the report has been following the 'Factless Allen' style of writing!!
