spyinthesky Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 With apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but if the club had been able to keep hold of Clyne and Morgan and persuade Toby to stay, as per their declared intention, then their net outlay would have been around the £10m - £11m mark. As it is approx. £35m/£36m has come into club coffers from the Clyne/Morgan deals whereas the five signings so far have probably cost around the £18m/£19m mark. So based on theses assume figures there is around £16m/£17m in the transfer pot to fund additional purchases (based on a nil net outlay**) or £28m if you allow for the projected Toby purchase. We all hope for a central defender of some substance but it seems unlikely that the fee would be in excess of £17m, so the club will be in profit from this years transfer deals. ** This doesn't allow for increased wages, agents fees or transfer levies.
Totton Sotton Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 We don't have to spend it all I guess. Better to save some for next season or the season after. We aren't always going to have the luxury of selling a player for 25m every season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Assuming this is all correct, perhaps they'll spend £10m on a cb and the rest can go on wages.

Yes, I wouldn't expect more than about £10m to be available. An awful lot goes in agents fees and 'other disbursements'. Then there is always the dreaded Corporation Tax if we have the temerity to make a profit somewhere.
Saint Jude Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 well if I read Guan's comments on the number of Schlongs or half a cake haul (see ITK snippets)... the total was just over £20m (unless he meant that for each player)... so after Clasie... we should still have a fair amount for a decent CB signing...
Barry the Badger Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 Perhaps they'll invest it into other areas of the club.

Saint IQ Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 (edited) Guan 2.0 said we're in for a CB and another right sided CM as well as Clasie I think. Totalling to just over 2 Schlongs if we pay asking price, which is between 20-25m. I can imagine it will be Virgil Van Dijk for just over 10m or another centre back. Then it will be a 'special' player that becomes available in the CM position or the advanced CM in the 4-3-3 for about 10-15m! As someone at the club aluded to earlier on this week that we aren't going to buy anyone else after Toby replacement to 'fill the numbers' but if a special player becomes availble then we'll take advantage of it. If Clyne and Schneiderlin had stayed would be no need to sign Soares and Classie so only the Spanish guy (cant remember his name lol) at 5M would have a transfer fee. Stecklingburg is a loan to cover while Forster is out and the other defender @ !M (cant remember his name either!!!) seems to have been signed because Betrand is injured. So 6M so far . TA for 6.8M would be 12.8M ........cant believe that was the budget for this summer.........with the TV cash still to come. Maybe there's something about the CFO leaving that we are all missing Any how we got some cash to buy a decent Central Defender and maybe A.Nother but not Charlie Austin!!
SW5 SAINT Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 I would have thought there is still a sizeable surplus from last seasons trading in the transfer market.......
Whitey Grandad Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 I would have thought there is still a sizeable surplus from last seasons trading in the transfer market....... I think we went through this at the time. We also spent quite a bit and wages and agents' fees would have taken a lot.
Batman Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 I think we went through this at the time. We also spent quite a bit and wages and agents' fees would have taken a lot. how much?
egg Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 I think we went through this at the time. We also spent quite a bit and wages and agents' fees would have taken a lot. Indeed. Agents fees, loyalty payments for outgoing players, signing on fees for incoming players, plus the reported £6m to Osvaldo, the extra £25m for Staplewood etc must all be factored in. I reckon we're looking at one cb, possibly on loan, and a loaned in midfielder.
shurlock Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 (edited) It is quite likely money for a CB would have been budgeted and set aside last season. I wouldn't be surprised if there is more money available than not. Whether we choose to spend it is another matter. Edited 18 July, 2015 by shurlock
shurlock Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 (edited) how much? We spent £2.8m on agents fees last season (12 months ending Sept 2014). Edited 18 July, 2015 by shurlock

SarniaSaint Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 One other thing we have paid for is to get rid of Osvaldos contract and I suspect very soon Ramirez.
