graymalkin33 Posted 3 January, 2009 Share Posted 3 January, 2009 OS says it was Jack's call. He will gave gone from Saints legend to traitor with this move. Are Watford scheduled to come here? He will be booed and catcalled! Thats probably the most ridiculous post ive seen on here for ohhhhh .. well all morning anyway. Legend - no he was here for 5 months. Traitor - No he owes us nothing he wasnt even a saints player. Will you boo and hiss - ofcourse you will because you are a stupid little girl thing. I personally will miss him. He was good for us and versatile. Joining Watford is a double whammy. But thats nothing to do with us. He joined Watford to be with the guy that made him the player he is at the moment. Good luck to him. I hope he goes on to bigger things after Watford are relegated
Kingsland Nick Posted 3 January, 2009 Share Posted 3 January, 2009 don't know but guess neither club would be paying a fee - big club to smaller club, developing young player loan. Perhaps not at the start of the season, but he's been arguably our player of the season, so if two clubs want him and one is prepared to pay for him, he'll go to the club that will pay. Watford would not need to pay much to outbid us.

Big Poppa Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 According to Jack it is because Watford wanted him more than Saints did http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/4025013.Cork__Watford_wanted_me_more_than_Saints/
The Kraken Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 Cork, pictured, explained: “I always had my options open over what was going to happen in January and I was stuck between whether to stay at Southampton or come to Watford. “But Watford seemed a lot keener than Southampton were on keeping me. “Southampton said they wanted to keep me and I made some good friends there, so it was a hard choice because everyone at Southampton was good to me. “But it came down to how much Watford wanted me.” I may be completely wrong, but this reads as if Watford were able to offer a better financial package to him. With it being a loan I don't know if that's possible, but doesn't seem to add up that we say we want to re-sign him, then he decides we don't want him enough. Maybe Watford just offered to blow up more balloons and hang some fancy bunting for his arrival there.
Scummer Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 Maybe Watford guaranteed to play him in midfield, not defence...............

I wrote from the perspective of the average Saints fan, based on postings on here. That average perspective should not be taken as my personal perspective. I have never booed any Saints player - past or present - nor would I. I don't think he was a legend or a traitor, but SOME WILL. My personal view is that he was just a gun for hire, passing through, and as such he doesn't owe us loyalty or desire to stay indefinitely. I just wonder how we came to believe that 'the player wants to stay, and we want him to stay' which was the line we were given by the media/OS. Your post, particularly the name-calling, is offensive. FYI I'm a 48 year old qualified professional.
Window Cleaner Posted 7 January, 2009 Share Posted 7 January, 2009 I expect he's getting fed up with being hawked aroundthe Championship and puts little value on his chances of ever playing for Chelsea on a regular basis. So he's accepted a loan to a club who might just buy him from Chelsea and give him a permanent contract. We probably weren't able to do that(don't think a definite move has ever been on the cards) and Watford see him as a potential long term aquisition, ie wanting him more.
