Batman Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 I would imagine celtic would have/insist on a sell-on agreement with us
saint77 Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Yes and was also training with u21s on Sunday along with Mayuka. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Because he wasn't in the match squad bellend
Dalek2003 Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Didnt stop Lallana or Morgan from going, and wont stop J-Rod next summer if he pulls it together again this season. For our sake I hope Jayrod does 'pull it together'. We need to get through this season without the debacle of relegation. Then we can worry about next season.
stanthemanfairoak Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Exactly the same was said to me about S Davis by a Rangers friend and fan when we signed him. Whatever his faults now, I wouldn't include switching off. Pelle is the master of that :-) Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk like the pelle bit , crap needs a bit of bench time .
sadoldgit Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 For our sake I hope Jayrod does 'pull it together'. We need to get through this season without the debacle of relegation. Then we can worry about next season. How long is JRod's new contract?
sadoldgit Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Didnt stop Lallana or Morgan from going, and wont stop J-Rod next summer if he pulls it together again this season. Sadio and Vic still have a couple of years on their contracts and they are still here. It is not a given that JRod will definitely go.
Bucks Saint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Didnt stop Lallana or Morgan from going, and wont stop J-Rod next summer if he pulls it together again this season. Not what he said. Means players entering one year left
Saint Charlie Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 (edited) If he does sign, I wonder if we'll go for a 5 year contract to avoid situations we've faced recently. I reckon he will want 4 as it gives him more options if he does well. For us 5 would obviously be ideal so hopefully its that! Edited 26 August, 2015 by Saint Charlie
John Boy Saint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Was I the only one to notice Clyne lifting his foot off the gas towards the end of last season, he had an England place and knew he wasn't staying with us, fear of getting a silly injury to scupper all of this was in the back of his mind. It would be no surprise if VVD is of the same mindset...... You are off to the Premier League to sit in the best shop window outside of the usual top 4 and the possibility of untold riches to come.
angelman Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 John Boy, I wouldn't disagree with you. Even if it isn't your intention, that nagging at the back of your mind might mean you give 95% rather than 100%. VVD seems on the face of it fairly committed to Celtic, but you can be at 95% quite happily in the SPL but not so in the CL. Clyne, well some games he seemed to be a little less than 95% and of course, there was that dropping vs Hull which was never explained although it was soon after the press said he was off. Also the same sort of time that he was continually being photographed bigging it up in London. Guess he grew up being a provincial football player to become a "super star" - such excellent role models for kids to follow, although there are far far worse than Clyne.
Give it to Ron Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Because he wasn't in the match squad bellend Who you calling a bellend you ****** come and say that to my face you trumped up *****! Most clubs who have players around the first team travel with them on matchday
Golden Balls Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Not what he said. Means players entering one year left Yeah that's what I was getting at. It forces our hand. I agree with the Clyne thing. He definitely took his foot off the peddle. That Leicester 'performance' was the best example of that. He didn't want to be there.
brmbrm Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Who you calling a bellend you ****** come and say that to my face you trumped up *****! Most clubs who have players around the first team travel with them on matchday Mmm the pleasure of well-reasoned argument LOL out loud
Give it to Ron Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Mmm the pleasure of well-reasoned argument LOL out loud Well he started it ...nanananana all I was saying was that both were training with u21's on Sunday whether for fitness etc and didn't envisage Gaston being picked soon. Especially as he never played a game for them on Monday - so must still be injured. Keyboard warriors p1ss me off I never call anyone something I wouldn't do to their face. Anyway enough off track back to VVD he worries me a lot and based on what I saw and a from what I have been told by someone who has watched him a lot he just coasts it so will take a bit of time to adjust. Not sure our great support will give him that time Romeu and Clasie were written off after 1 game.
Pilchards Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Romeu and Clasie were written off after 1 game. They were written off before they even kicked a ball to be precise. IMHO Virgil has something different to offer us and I trust the black box (blah blah) on this one.
Matthew Le God Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Video interview with him last night.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34062586
Saint Charlie Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 @davidfriel81: Celtic confirm interest in van Dijk but add: "We have no agreement with any club. As we said before we do not want Virgil to leave Celtic.” Encouraging a bidding war.

Saint Charlie Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Saints don't do bidding wars...so we could be out. We did for Cedric so thats just wrong. Besides, player will go where he wants anyway.
Jimmy_D Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Reckon they think they can get more from Everton if they sell Stones for £40M. If we're going to get him, might come down to VVD wanting to work with Koeman.

If we're going to get him, might come down to VVD wanting to work with Koeman. Why? We have made stacks of money the last two years so could easily match anything offered for the player as it isnt going to be north of £15m maximum. We would have spent that on Toby so it shouldn't be an issue.

We probably can match what they'll be willing to go up to, in which case, it'll be down to the player's choice, in which case working with Koeman hopefully swings it for us. Celtic probably think Everton will offer more than we're offering at the moment.

It's called being well run and spending shrewdly
Dig Dig Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Well probably because we'll feel that doesn't match our valuation of him and go for a another target with more value. It's called being well run and spending shrewdly Missing out on your no.1 transfer target in the one position we need it the most in the last week of the transfer window, in which we've had over two months to sort it out is being well run?

Pastor Patrón Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 We don't buy success, FFS, we breed it. Considering Wigan have won more silverware then us we must be about as fertile as a corpse. Can we hurry up and sign VVD already, what's the hold up now?
merrimd Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Missing out on your no.1 transfer target in the one position we need it the most in the last week of the transfer window, in which we've had over two months to sort it out is being well run? Going for your No2 choice because you cant be bothered to wait for your No1 choice to become available doesn't sound particularly bright either!
alpine_saint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 VVD aint going to come here. We always f**k up this sort of high profile public p*ssing contest. Everton are going to have up to 40m burning a hole in the pocket, and we will continue to be smart-arse....
VectisSaint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Apparently we have 3 backups if we fail to get VvD.
thorpie the sinner Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Has anybody approached Stephen Spielberg re the forum! It is absolute comedy gold and always cheers me up on a dark August day with the rain falling freely with menace outside! Some great characters on here, but what Hollywood A listers would portray them on the big screen?
Batman Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Apparently we have 3 backups if we fail to get VvD. caulker, fonte, yoshida?
Dig Dig Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Going for your No2 choice because you cant be bothered to wait for your No1 choice to become available doesn't sound particularly bright either! I guess you have to be certain that the deal will get done if you choose to wait until the end of the window for when your no.1 target is available.

Colinjb Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 caulker, fonte, yoshida? Please. Gardos, Stephens and AcademyClone#6
VectisSaint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 (edited) caulker, fonte, yoshida? You're so funny. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34060123 The Dutchman heads a shortlist of four defenders who Southampton are interested in and the clubs held talks about a potential transfer this summer. I suspect the shortlist of players we are interested in does not include the ones we already have. Edited 26 August, 2015 by VectisSaint

Batman Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 the presser might be to announce the signing of Vlaar?

Winnersaint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Yawn But if he doesn't come here it won't be yawn Viking, this place will be an absolute hoot, with Alps exploding and reducing Austria to a pile of smouldering rubble and mountains.
Toadhall Saint Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 So to conclude, if he doesn't sign we meltdown because the club can't sign anyone good and in demand, but if he does sign we meltdown because he's rubbish? That's the saintsweb way.
Plastic Posted 26 August, 2015 Posted 26 August, 2015 Wanyama to Spurs, Van Dijk to Everton, Vlaar to us. I almost want this to happen for the lols (except I really hope it doesn't).
