Saint Garrett Posted 13 July, 2015 Share Posted 13 July, 2015 Yes I know it's not possible but what a brilliant team this would be...title challenging? Forster (counting him cos he's out injured and couldn't think of anyone else...!) Clyne Lovren Toby Shaw Morgan Chamberlain Walcott Lallana Bale Lambert Maybe would need a better option up top, but a superb side all the same. Colinjb Posted 13 July, 2015 Share Posted 13 July, 2015 (edited) I would fancy this side for a push at the Champions League: ----------------------- Walcott/Lambert ----------------------- Bale --------------------Chamberlain ------------------- Mane ---------------- Schneiderlin ---- Wanyama ------------------ Shaw/Bertrand -- Fonte ------ Alderweireld --------- Clyne ---------------------------- Forster ------------------------------- Subs: K. Davis, Lovren, Tadic, Pelle, Lallana, Yoshida, Rodriguez Title challengers? Unlikely, not quite enough outright excellence in all areas or defensive depth on top. Add a proper reserve keeper, avoid any serious long-term injuries (impossible!) and not be in Europe, and those 20 players wouldn't be far off top top, never mind top 4. Hard to pick a front 4 from the 8 players available, Bale's a shoo-in, but after that it's very difficult, we've certainly watched some top talent the last few seasons. And we'd still all squabble about which team to put out in the 4th round of the FA Cup!
sadoldgit Posted 14 July, 2015 Share Posted 14 July, 2015 We have had many decent players over the years but have rarely been able to keep them together. Even back in the 80s Keegan left before we brought in Shilton, which is a shame.

ENSKIED Posted 14 July, 2015 Share Posted 14 July, 2015 With the right manager at the helm, that is always so important of course, tactically aware, confidence boosting and so on [and Koeman could have done it] yes a potential Title challenging / winning side and potentiality a ECL challenging / winning side. DEFINITELY a football team worth watching so much pace and skill. Such teams as dreams are made of!
Ludwig Posted 14 July, 2015 Share Posted 14 July, 2015 Imagine if we still had le Tissier and he was even better than he was back then. That would be great, wouldn't it?

Can we get him back?) would add to the competitive defensive options.

The only players better then last seasons team are Lallana and Bale, Lambert and Chamberlain and complete sh#te.
Mosin Posted 15 July, 2015 Share Posted 15 July, 2015 Did Wenger not comment on this a season or so back? If i remember rightly he said that if we had kept all of are players over the years we would be challenging to win the Champions league? my team would be ( is on football manager 15 ) Forster Clyne Fonte Toby Shaw Morgan Wanyama Walcott Bale Mane JRod I know we still have some of them players, But i have this team on football manager 15, unbeaten in league finished 5 points clear of Chelsea, lost final of FA cup, Won Champions league final , 2nd season with this team together we won every thing J Rod was top goal scorer every season for me, now in my 5th season and need to replace Fonte as he retired after wining every thing. replaced him with Jonathan Tah from Hamberg for 2.9 million ( i did cheat to get Bale and Walcott though as club would not give me the funds to buy them, surprising though, They both are happy to rejoin Saints if the club would met both wage demands and transfer fee's ) if only games are real................. i await the comments putting me down for playing football manager and sharing my team........
