Cheers for that. When a poster who's been on here for 9 years and only posted 700-odd posts, its worth listening to what they say. What is Van Dijks injury record like? Toby seemed a bit prone to hamstring problems.

His injury record is excellent, games missed last season were due to suspensions not injuries. Two red cards and imo both wrongly issued.

He is the main man in the current Celtic team without a doubt and 10/12 millionwould be aexcellent buy

As a dutchman I am following the Saints since Koeman became the manager. Althoug I wonder if it's wise for the Saints 'to go Dutch' I would definitely recommend signing van Dijk from Celtic. Strong and decent defenders who will help the team with a better buildup and positional play are rare. As an Ajax fan I would have liked if we had signed him directly from Groningen. In the Netherlands there is very strong positivism about van Dijk by some experts but there is always doubt as he didn't really make it on the National team (yet) and the traditional top 3 decided not to buy him from Groningen. It would be great to see him play in the PL.

When Saints are playing Groningen on July 18th I recommend to keep an eye out for Eric Botteghin. He was the best defender in the Eredivisie last year and won 3rd place in the 'best player' competition. I am wondering if Koeman will do the same... He is Brazilian though :)

About time we had another Brazillian player.

That is always the way of it. Managers will want to work with players they know and getting them in takes a couple of seasons.

I agree but a club should be carefull with this. Suppose Koeman would get another three Dutchmen (he won't, rest assured...) and leaves after this season and let's say a Frenchman comes in who wants to get his own players... Not only will it cost a lot of money (players written off, getting new players in) but there won't be any long term consistency and you'll end up like so many other clubs without vision. I hope that the Saints hold on to their policy to try to play attractive and attacking football (I am a Dutchman after all) and chooses the right manager again when Koeman leaves.
