I don't expect us to spend more than we receive from clyne/morgan sales which is c.£37m or 3 $hlongs. How much did we spend on first 2 signings? 8m in total? Plus 8m for clasie leaves about 20m left for the 2 signings, 10m on van dyke then another midfielder for a similar figure. No idea who that can be, he's going to be the surprise one that no one thought about.

No, there is no need for anyone to bid higher than the release clause. If you match the release clause it is automatically accpeted and is then down to the player to decide if he wants to leave. This is a concept Pompey fans struggled with when Jed Wallace was sold.

After that any player we bring in is a squad bonus, like another keeper, another winger or another striker.
