doddisalegend Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 (edited) Why do you bother posting on here? You are a proven troll so feck off. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk I don't know I find his attempts to get a rise out of people quite funny myself:lol: Edited 12 July, 2015 by doddisalegend
Don Logan Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 What a surprise (not) Why bother to take him on pre season ? It was perfectly obvious that HE would not risk himself playing whilst he was/is negotiating his transfer Anybody care to deny he's going ?? Spreading your positivity & optimism once again...........#WeMarchOn..........hopefully without SR....
Whitey Grandad Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 It was just a kick-around in the heat in a warm-up friendly. Nothing to get excited about.
buctootim Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 I read the posts on here before I knew what the results were. Id assumed we'd got badly stuffed in both games. Turns out the side is better than many of the the posters.Who'd have thought
ozzmeister Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Is anyone bothered 3 pre seasons against European teams 0 wins and quite a few conceded? Backline worries me at the moment.
Matthew Le God Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 (edited) Is anyone bothered 3 pre seasons against European teams 0 wins and quite a few conceded? Backline worries me at the moment. Its early in pre-season and we are mixing and matching the defence to build fitness and look at the under 21 players. It won't be anything like that during the Premier League season. - The defence, goalkeeper, defensive midfield vs RB Leipzig had 1 first choice player (Stekelenburg) out of 7 - The defence, goalkeeper, defensive midfield vs Valencia had 2 first choice player (Fonte and Wanyama) out of 7 - The defence, goalkeeper, defensive midfield vs RB Salzburg had 2 first choice players (Stekelenburg & Cedric) out of 7 Edited 12 July, 2015 by Matthew Le God
Katalinic Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 It was just a kick-around in the heat in a warm-up friendly. Nothing to get excited about. Exactly this - same hysteria happens every year on here but ultimately pre-season results have absolutely no bearing on the season.
SuperMikey Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Is anyone bothered 3 pre seasons against European teams 0 wins and quite a few conceded? Backline worries me at the moment. We're always going to concede goals against the level of opposition that we've been playing considering we've mostly been using U21 players at the back in these past few games. Judge us in the Gronigen/Feyenoord games when we'll be at full strength (minus Bertrand).
Lets B Avenue Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Is anyone bothered 3 pre seasons against European teams 0 wins and quite a few conceded? Backline worries me at the moment. No.
Batman Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 If we ship 3 or 4 against feyonord, then I'd start to worry.
TwoPints Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 You could tell we played a few reserve players, they all looked a bit green in that second game. I'll get my coat. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Dalek2003 Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 I don't know I find his attempts to get a rise out of people quite funny myself:lol: Exactly, people getting worked up by trolls should just not reply.
spyinthesky Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Thought both keepers did well in the two half games yesterday Felt sorry for Dom Gape in the second game, totally out of his depth. Also the enigma that is Gaston Ramirez still fails to live up to his potential There was one occasion when he lost the ball in the inside left channel just in side his own half and basically gave up chasing back as the opponent in possession ran towards our goal. Will put J Rod's decision to shoot from well outside the box when put through down to rustiness but you would expect a £12m striker (Shane Long) to have taken the ball round the keeper rather than screw wide when well placed and similarly Dusan Tadic should have hit the ball first time for his chance. Still perhaps if Mane had scored with his free header in the first game we wouldnt have conceded straight away and could easily have reached the final As it is there has to be big improvements in forthcoming games
svetigpung Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Is anyone bothered 3 pre seasons against European teams 0 wins and quite a few conceded? Backline worries me at the moment. What worries me more is the lack of goals scored in the last two matches.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 July, 2015 Author Posted 12 July, 2015 What worries me more is the lack of goals scored in the last two matches. The defending and lack of midfield worried me a lot more!
Window Cleaner Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 (edited) Is anyone bothered 3 pre seasons against European teams 0 wins and quite a few conceded? Backline worries me at the moment. Not really, we'll only see where we are when we drop the hanging chaff and start using the first team squad only. Yesterday we had no composure, probably due to too many average players who'll not make the first team. Edited 12 July, 2015 by Window Cleaner
ericofarabia Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 What worries me more is the lack of goals scored in the last two matches. You could say 1 match, as it was only 45 mins per game!!
Matthew Le God Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 What worries me more is the lack of goals scored in the last two matches. You are worried because in a total of 90 minutes of friendly competition a below full strength Saints side didn't score a goal?
SaintRobbie Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 If we ship 3 or 4 against feyonord, then I'd start to worry. I think thats a fair assessment. Even then I'd rather see us experiment and lose in pre-season than go all out for wins. I can't fault the coaching staff thus far.
the saint in winchester Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 So, are we close to any signings? You don't need me to tell you that, yes, yes we are! Big Les Reed confirmed it just yesterday. And one of these was Chambers back on loan? He turned us down. Who else? After yesterday, we need a lift.
Aziz Yebda Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Pre season is a very very good indication how the season will go, not looking good at all chaps. Relegation battle.

suewhistle Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Relegation battle. Which team, the one who played first yesterday, or the one who played the second game?
Pierre Posted 12 July, 2015 Posted 12 July, 2015 Anyone got their Groningen tickets yet? Which section are you in?
The9 Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 Pretty sure I heard WTFILN Red Bull fans (with a few Saints fans near them singing the "real words"). For some reason the Tony Christie song is popular in Germanic countries, Bayern fans sang it during the Champions League Final against Chelsea too.
The9 Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 Juanmi won't be on set pieces for long! He will if our stats say a cross to the far post is more likely to result in a goal than a shot.
The9 Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 Is this bloke actually the commentator? Maybe he's supposed to be programme selling and just walked in by accident. Reminds me of this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5evS-ApSNQ Makes sense, given that the programmes were laid out on the seats so he wouldn't have had his other job to do...
The9 Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 Why does the commentator think that Mane switching sides will stop the booing. Ahaahahaa Not as silly as it sounds, the one side of the ground was basically a load of portakabins with a single tier, the rest was two tiers, there's some validity to the idea that him being further from the majority of fans would quieten the crowd. It wasn't that many making the noise either, the ones near us in the hardcore home singing section were pretty quiet about him, booing and whistling was all from the side opposite the "portakabins".

Pre-season has always been a period of experimentation and sometimes it's "make or break" for the U21's. They may train every week with the first teamers, but getting into a start side - even in a pre-season friendly - is their real big test. Calum Chambers "success" came after he switched roles when Clyne was injured. If any of the current youngsters really want to impress.. now is their one real chance.
The9 Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 Posting this from Munich Airport (in work tomorrow...), not particularly bothered that two half strength sides with our best two ex-players missing lost, I'll only be bothered if those two gaps aren't filled. Stekelenburg and Cedric already look good buys. I'm actually more annoyed by the white numbers on the green kit, what an awful choice.
Lighthouse Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 I'm actually more annoyed by the white numbers on the green kit, what an awful choice. Works for me. At least it's clearly legible.

van Hanegem Posted 13 July, 2015 Posted 13 July, 2015 If we ship 3 or 4 against feyonord, then I'd start to worry. Then you should really worry as Feyenoord massively lacks goalscoring ability... Can't imagine a 35-year old Kuyt is going to hurt the Saints.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 Wonder if they'll release a squad list for the Dutch camp - I notice fro the Tadic interview video that many of the U21's are still training with the first team despite all senior players now being back.
Sour Mash Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 Will the Gronignen game be shown anywhere on-line?

Saint-Armstrong Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 Well, these games against Groningen and Feyenoord out in Holland are pretty handy, considering our Europa draw.
stevegrant Posted 17 July, 2015 Posted 17 July, 2015 Literally no ****s given about the remaining friendlies now the draw's been done
laughba Posted 18 July, 2015 Posted 18 July, 2015 Ah I didn't see the stream mentioned above! ^Disregard that!
