SuperSAINT Posted 14 February, 2016 Posted 14 February, 2016 Lucky escape here. He is awful. Funny how we were linked with both him & Kante.
Saint Charlie Posted 14 February, 2016 Posted 14 February, 2016 Funny how we were linked with both him & Kante. Most PL sides are watching the same players. Stoke wanted Cedric and Tadic. Newcastle wanted Juanmi. Sunderland Van Dijk. Just have to hope you make the right decisions.
The9 Posted 14 February, 2016 Posted 14 February, 2016 Good of Van Gaal not to pick Schneiderlin for months and allow them to accumulate enough defeats that even his presence recently hasn't helped much. Shame it happened just after I put money on them at 28/1 to win the title in the hope they'd go on a run and I could cash out a decent profit, with Leicester's results until today that tenner is probably worth about a quid.
Colinjb Posted 14 February, 2016 Posted 14 February, 2016 If I only had ten bullets in my gun, he is the one who would be spared. From the Villa forums.
Badger Posted 14 February, 2016 Posted 14 February, 2016 Funny how we were linked with both him & Kante. Certainly missed out there though.

Incidentally Gueye is second only to Kante in tackles won this season. Edited 12 April, 2016 by Saint Charlie
Batman Posted 12 April, 2016 Posted 12 April, 2016 Love the last bit about the scout maybe being there to watch Villa as we play them in 10 days. Incidentally Gueye is second only to Kante in tackles won this season. and cedric was top of the pops for tackles won for a defender. reality tells a bigger story there
Shance Posted 13 April, 2016 Posted 13 April, 2016 Think Cedric was top for tackles won per tackles made rather than outright having the most tackles made. Gueye is half decent imo and I think he'd do well for us.
redkeith Posted 13 April, 2016 Posted 13 April, 2016 A lot of people turned their nose up at Bertrand, because of his time at Villa. I hate to think what the reaction would have been if we had signed Allbrighton in the summer, now look at him. If we do sign him, and it's a big if because we may just of had the mad notion to send a scout to watch Villa before we play them in a couple of weeks, then perhaps it might be worth seeing how he plays for us before going into total meltdown.

Quite - he could be a different proposition outside of the toxic atmosphere of Villa. I do agree with some of the other posters that I'd like us to aim higher as a Wanyama replacement and that should cost £15m at least, but if Ron and Les think he could be returned to form with us, then I'd back them. Seems from AVFC forums that he's been one a very small minority of players actually trying and putting in some displays this season - imagine having to shine somewhere where 95% of your colleagues don't give a toss? Also, if the club bring in a player from another league (e.g. like Clasie), you are often looking at a season of adjustment whereas this Gueye will have had a tough first PL season under his belt and Villa need to cut costs. PS - Did anyone see in the Telegraph yesterday that Shelvey doesn't have a relegation wage cut clause at Newcastle and he'll still be on £80k a week up there?
Shance Posted 13 April, 2016 Posted 13 April, 2016 Yeah I saw that. It's utter madness. He earns well over what any of our players do and he's pretty average borderline ****.
