sadoldgit Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Looked to be on his way to Villa for £9m but apparently we have offered £10m (along with Marseille) according to The Daily Fail.
buctootim Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 apparently we have offered £10m (along with Marseille) according to The Daily Fail. Cant see a timeshare working
the saint in winchester Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?53873-Summer-2015-Hcdajfu-thread/page41 Post #2013 - Our Texan friend beat you hours ago. Mind you, he was still awake then. He's having a medical at Villa. This ship has sailed .... surely?
sadoldgit Posted 3 July, 2015 Author Posted 3 July, 2015 Had a medical there yesterday but deal not done and dusted yet. Watch this space I guess.
trousers Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Would be hard cheese for Villa if he ended up here... (yes, I know that wouldn't even be funny if the play-on-words actually fitted properly )
Saint Charlie Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Medical done, just awaiting work permit apparently.
bilbot79 Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Wish utd would just pay the schneiderlin bill so we can get on with our business. How are we losing to villa in a transfer tussle?
SuperSAINT Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Medical done, just awaiting work permit apparently. ^ What Charlie said Get French Football @GFN_France Idrissa Gueye has passed a medical with Aston Villa and agreed a 4 year contract. Now he is waiting for a work permit, according to RMC.
Barry the Badger Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Wish utd would just pay the schneiderlin bill so we can get on with our business. How are we losing to villa in a transfer tussle? Maybe they think he's worth more than we do.
Saint Charlie Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Wish utd would just pay the schneiderlin bill so we can get on with our business. How are we losing to villa in a transfer tussle? Probably by not bidding because we have other targets.
batterseasaint Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 We're not being beaten to anyone by anyone. Agents have been using our name to flush out suitors. Gueye is just one of many players we've been linked with for whom we've had no real interest. Add Praet, Ogbonna, Bender and others to the list.

Matthew Le God Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 Wish utd would just pay the schneiderlin bill so we can get on with our business. How are we losing to villa in a transfer tussle? Why have you jumped to that conclusion? How do you know for certain Saints have the player high on their list of priorities?
batterseasaint Posted 3 July, 2015 Posted 3 July, 2015 ITK? Not in the slightest. Look at message boards of every Premier League club in the land; they're all being linked with the same players as us. Because agents and selling clubs leak these stories out there in order to generate interest and get their hands on some of the Premier League pound. Look at how swiftly we did the deals for Juanmi and Cedric. Would we therefore have struggled to get a deal over the line for Gueye, who is evidently desperate for Premier League football, with Lille also very keen to sell?

To be fair, we did swoop in pretty late to swipe Cedric from Stoke. But I agree with you.
Saint Charlie Posted 20 July, 2015 Posted 20 July, 2015 http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2015/idrissa-gueye-i-needed-a-change-of-scenery/ He confirms he was "no3 on Saints shortlist" and that we didn't make an offer in the end.
Alain Perrin Posted 20 July, 2015 Posted 20 July, 2015 Interesting if we tell our prospects what number they are in our hitlist or if that's just the agents grapevine.

TBH would rather hear that than Lovren's bs about being his dream move.
Fan The Flames Posted 21 July, 2015 Posted 21 July, 2015 Agreed a deal on the 3rd and signed a contract on 19th, sounds like the guy was keeping his options open.

To be honest, Clasie said something similar when he said that he hopes to have a good couple of seasons with us...
richard Posted 21 July, 2015 Posted 21 July, 2015 To be honest, Clasie said something similar when he said that he hopes to have a good couple of seasons with us... Yep, and it's not exactly newsworthy. Player tells the truth because he hasn't had any media training.
sadoldgit Posted 21 July, 2015 Author Posted 21 July, 2015 (edited) Yep, and it's not exactly newsworthy. Player tells the truth because he hasn't had any media training. If players were honest they would all say this, and why shouldn't they want to better themselves? Mind you, not the wisest thing to say when you have just joined a new club!! Coldridge Posted 21 July, 2015 Posted 21 July, 2015 Maybe there's a bit of denial on my part, but it was clear from the start of the interview that Clasie's English is not too good. It's possible that he thought 'couple' to mean a nonspecific number of years. It would be a bit weird for him to outright suggest he was here for the season and one more, then he's off.
saint1977 Posted 21 July, 2015 Posted 21 July, 2015 If players were honest they would all say this, and why shouldn't they want to better themselves? Mind you, not the wisest thing to say when you have just joined a new club!! Someone has posted in the comments that the ESPN report missed off further quotes where he said words to the effect of 'just because they've had a few difficult seasons, doesn't mean it (Villa) still isn't a bif club'. So probably a non-story like the Clasie 'couple of years' thing although quite frankly, if either or both players play out of their skin for the next two years, Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs will probably be trying to buy them if we're honest. If that means Clasie has helped Saints keep in the top 7 or 8 then the club will have done well out of it.

I used to use "couple" and "few" interchangeably as a kid, until someone pointed out the nuance, so perfectly possible he only thought it meant the same as "few". Also, even if he only stays 2 years, who cares?

Also, even if he only stays 2 years, who cares? I'm dutch, I did not know there was a difference until this post. Btw, Clasie went to the same school as Van Persie, Martins Indi, Wijnaldum, Fer, De Vrij, De Guzman, Kongolo and Janmaat.
S-Clarke Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 Looks decent for Villa tonight IMO. And then he lost his legs..!
SuperSAINT Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 And then he lost his legs..! Within 2 mins of me posting! Typical
S-Clarke Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 Impressed with Morgan in those 2 games. He's not going to look spectacular, but it's no coincidence that they haven't let a goal in yet. He's a terrific shield. He can make decent CB's look a lot better than they are.
jasonb Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 Hmm. Sadly I agree. He was his usual self, popping up and pinching the ball.
The9 Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 They'll be in with a chance of winning the title based on signing Schneiderlin alone.
Sour Mash Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 I think Man Utd are going to be like this all year, dull, grinding out 1-0 wins. Still miles off being a great team.
doddisalegend Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 According to the BBC stats both teams, between them, managed 3 shots on target
Whitey Grandad Posted 14 August, 2015 Posted 14 August, 2015 According to the BBC stats both teams, between them, managed 3 shots on target That many? It was a dull game.

Mowgli Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 I think Morgan will get a really good reception when he comes back here next month.
Saint Charlie Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 I think Morgan will get a really good reception when he comes back here next month. Anyone who gives him stick doesn't really understand the game.
BotleySaint Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 Anyone who gives him stick doesn't really understand the game. Indeed, football is played with the feet not sticks.
Toadhall Saint Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 If he can make Smalling look good, he deserves to be Footballer of the Year. When he first turned out for manure i thought he did well but he's absolute gash - not sure how he still gets the nod each week tbh.
SuperMikey Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 Why is he allowed to have 'Gana' on his shirt?? Probably the same reason Hernandez has 'Chicharito'. No clue why 'Gana' though - nickname?
Verbal Kint Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 When he first turned out for manure i thought he did well but he's absolute gash - not sure how he still gets the nod each week tbh. Gash?! Jesus I wonder if some people on here actually watch many games. He's always had the attributes to be very good and in the last 6 months has started to show that. Developing into a great player
Window Cleaner Posted 15 August, 2015 Posted 15 August, 2015 Probably the same reason Hernandez has 'Chicharito'. No clue why 'Gana' though - nickname? His middle name apparently....or so they said on the TV yesterday.
SuperSAINT Posted 4 September, 2015 Posted 4 September, 2015 Seems to be doing well for Villa. Fair play. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-boss-tim-sherwood-9986945
