Saints Ticket Rip off Continues This Season

I'd assume the Bournemouth game will be moved to TV as the media seem to think it's a derby, so with that and a cat a price I'll be amazed if we sell it out. Doesn't seem the most intelligent pricing that one.

Last day at cat a makes sense, especially against a London club who'll almost certainly sell out their allocation.

Cos they won't see the steel wall, a ride in the bubble, chance of naughtyness down the town, no Robo cop armour, or those nice Police Horses, but most of all having to figure out an angle to sing song towards them containing gratuitous amounts of spiteful abuse peppered with words your Dad would give you a clip round the ear for using in front of your Mum.

Sorry CAT A isnt based on popularity its always been tiered to top clubs.

Can't speak to always, but clearly this year it is at least partially based upon popularity. Also, aren't there going to be the same number of category A games no matter what so if these two games were not category A some other two games would be. Isn't the club generously giving lower prices on those other two games rather than ripping people off on these two games?

Are all of Bournemouth games cat a? Every team they play will be a top team compared to them

Not Aston Villa.

On a slight tangent... Does anyone have an idea if the first home game is likely to be sold out before general sale? It's the only one I'll be able to attend this season and I'm not paying for membership.

Depends on the weather. Also a lot of people are on holiday at that time of the year and have to start saving for Christmas. Or something.

Disgusting to see Crystal Palace as a CAT A game because its the last home match.

Also a farce that Bournemouth are a CAT A game.

wasn't it you that posted this same crap last season....if you don't like the pricing you don't have to go.....the blue few could do with an extra few bob.

Have you thought about going to other games other than the season finale? Probably need to expand your horizons

Get a season ticket and then you won't have to worry. Or are you worried you might have to pay more for games that you and everyone else want to go to (hence why they are Cat A)?

Disgusting farce. Yep it is very difficult to understand and the club deserve the abuse. Let me know if you need help working out the turnstiles, or how to get a drink

Do you go to watch particlular opponents when you go to St Mary's then? I tend to just go when I am free and can afford it, don't give a monkeys who we are playing. Obviously games against bigger teams and derbys can be more enjoyable but then you can watch us spank Villa and Sunderland in the other ones, s'all good

As the first home game is in the Europa League I have no idea. :)

Seriously though, the early August games usually see a fair few people on holiday so they often don't sell out, though it's always a bit of a gamble. If I could remember who it's actually against that might help...

Seems fair to me mate! I would expect both to be great games and worth the money.

You can always pitch in to get a season ticket anyway...

To be perfectly frank, whether they're utter toss or amazing, you pay before you find out anyway.

Open to discussion whether Bournemouth is a derby or not.

Brought up in Holbury I went to brockenhurst grammar from the 60's to early 70's and a lot of my friends at school came from remote () places like Milford, Christchurch, ringwood etc. (and bournemouth was still in Hampshire) Even in those days some of them supported "the cherries" and there was (almost) intense rivalry between us at school. This obviously came to a head when we got promoted to the the old first division in 1966.

Having said that if saints were playing away on a Saturday I would often go to dean court in the afternoon after playing football at school in the morning..

It's a pity that tickets prices are so high in general in this league, compared to Germany etc., but hoping for tickets that cheap is unrealistic, I guess.

I have no complaints about the categories. It's basic business to charge more for what will be high demand tickets.

Also, it's good news that prices in the wings have come down, as that's usually where I sit!

"It is expensive to go and watch Premier League football" shocker!

Although it seems like £25 for nothing, I think the membership scheme is a good idea. Liverpool/Man Utd/Bournemouth fans etc. aren't going to pay that £25 so theoretically the home crowd should be mainly home supporters. The £25 is as much a deterrent for others than anything else. As for Bournemouth being a top category game, yes it seems silly but ticket prices in general haven't changed, so overall can't complain.

I don't see your point? Would you pay to watch a game you know the result of? Would you pay to watch a movie in the cinema you had already seen?

The drama is part of football, whether your team is rubbish and playing boring football (I always remember saints vs wolves ending 0-0) or playing great stuff you go to support them... At at the end of the day, a local derby and the last game of the season at sms should provide some of the best atmospheres and therefore an enjoyable experience.

Therefore I don't particularly mind the pricing. Probably worth mentioning that people are only complaining about the price for these games because they want to go to them and they're re therefore desirable games... if it was Norwich away I doubt anyone would be moaning.

Not so.

I seem to remember when Pompey and us were in the PL together the last time the ticket bands were thus:

Bronze: Relegation fodder

Silver: Mid table mediocrity

Gold: Top teams

Platinum: Them!

I actually think with a membership scheme you're more likely to see glory hunting fans in the home end just there for the opposition.

People taking pictures on their phones of opposition players taking corners, throw ins ffs.

Forcing plastic fans of other clubs to put more money in to our transfer fund if they want to sit in the home end? Sounds good to me! Hopefully they're get ejected during the game too!

Happy days. The club have confirmed the free under 11 ticket has been done away with. So not £40 for dad and son to watch a cat C game rather than £32 last season.

See response from the club.

Heather

Funny how that wasn’t mentioned on the website.

They haven’t been frozen if an Under 11 was £0 for a Cat c with an adult last season and is now £8 for cat c with an adult.

Wings have come down in price but no good if you want to sit in the family stand with your son.

Not your doing of course but pass on my thanks to the club. Obviously the sky money coming in soon is still not enough.

Hi Richard,

Thank you for your email.

The website is correct, we are no longer offering the free under 11 this season as areas have been changed and prices have been frozen. All prices shown on the website are correct.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Heather.

Hi

Please could you confirm if you will no longer offer a free Under 11 ticket with every adult ticket for Cat C games in the family stand as you did for the 2014-15 season (2013-14 season it was 2 under 11 tickets free with one paying adult.

The article on the website now says £8.

i don't get it either, there's only 31 miles between St Mary's and Dean Court, yet 33 between Anfield and Old Trafford which is considered one of the biggest derbies in this country. I hope our players show Bournemouth a bit more respect than some of our fans do.

Oldham Athletic is only 13 miles from Manchester United so that must be an even bigger derby.

Think that's supply and demand, anyway £40 for two people to watch a top 10 prem side sounds like a good deal to me.

It's bad the free Under 11 ticket has been scrapped, but they did halve the cost of an U11 season ticket to £50 which is an absolute bargain.

Maybe they want to encourage parents to bring their kids every week rather than fill the family stand with day trippers. Makes sense to get the kids hooked at a young age because they are more likely to spend years coming back.

£8 is still a really good deal though, better than most in the Prem I'd have thought? Bit cheeky of them to not at least mention the change as a footnote though.

I'd have thought they'd want as wide a range as possible getting a taste of going to matches than the same few hundred every game, so not sure on that one.

I agree 50 quid is dirt cheap and a great price but for those that don't live locally and their children have commitments at the weekend and go to a few games each season its a bit of a kick in the teeth with all the talk around football about reducing ticket prices.

On the face of it 8 quid is good value but not when it was zero last season

Reducing the free tickets from 2 per adult in 2013-14 which I admit was very generous to one last season to none next season doesn't strike me as encouraging kids to go to football.

Thing is I'm not a day tripper. I'm 34 and saw my first game in 1991 and have been up and down the country watching saints. I take my son to games and we only do cat c games due to the cost.

I go to 6-8 games a season, a mixture of home and away and don't live local to soton.
