Could we have a thread where only K Bily and Guan 2 are allowed to add entries?

oooh! Not sure that's good though, judging from some of the disparaging remarks made about him on here. But thanks KB for confirming your continuing existance!:)

All we need to do now is to lure Toby to sign for us... (one for the anglers...)

Sounds like the first bit of info not entirely correct then.

What K.Billy posts is usually spot on (at that present time).

These thing's change very quickly, and TBF he did say he'd go if we got a silly offer.

There's an argument to be made about whether £12.5m is a silly offer of not, but that's not exactly K.Billy's fault.

No there isn't. I wasn't attaching any blame to anyone, just making an observation. If we lose Morgan, Clyne and Toby, it is going to be tough to replicate what we did last year and still come out with similar performances.

How many matches did each miss and how did we fare? Genuine question.

I certainly recall going into the Everton match before Christmas on the back of 5 defeats with no Morgan & Vic, yet ran out comfortable winners with Scrappy-do Reed attracting plaudits from all sides.

Also, have to remember, Toby is not ours to begin with, and how we have kept Morgan all this time is beyoind me (he should be spoken about in the same bracket as the very best central midfielders in Europe - his stats back it up over 3 seasons)

Never mind, don't we have some fantastic players in the academy who'll step up and see us through, then again I remember hearing that a couple of times already, in 2008 notably.

Why are you always so dismissive of the academy?

Who's being dismissive, I keep hearing that we have some fantastic players in the academy, I'm just waiting for one of them to step up, play 25 or 30 games at 80 minutes + and not be sold the summer afterwards.

To be fair if they aren't sold through choice, are they? They are sold because they are fantastic players. So we can't have it both ways.

Well if you're trying to tell me that Shaw didn't want to be sold to the highest bidder last summer then I'm quite surprised, did we suddenly tell Chambers..sorry lad we're selling you to the Arse..perhaps not. We develop players but out lowly status amonsgt the "heavyweights"seems to prevent us keeping them.

Not sure we're on the same wavelength here. From my perspective you said you were waiting for some fantastic players from the Academy to play regularly for the first team and not be sold. I was suggesting that it was hardly the clubs choice to sell the fantastic Academy graduates we had - they all wanted to move. The Academy players we have that do step up and remain aren't as good.

Unless you were referring to the utopia of developing brilliant talent and them wanting to stay - which will never happen!

We will never be the top of the food chain - too many on here need to understand that. Without our academy we would be right in the ****e. Getting a little tired with your constant sniping at the academy tbh.

I'm guessing that as King Billy has not posted for several days , that there is no news or updates to post about players coming in or going out . And all we are seeing is loads of press speculation by the supposed in the know journos . Could it not be a case of the players agents using the press to manipulate transfer interests .?

He posted yesterday I think, not on transfers though.

I don't know why people are struggling, Window Cleaner is being very clear in what he wants...for the academy to produce players who are good, but not good enough to play for the Top 6. We've been falling a bit foul of that last part recently and so I agree we need to produce players who aren't quite as good as those in the past. Maybe we should start from the top and appoint slightly worse coaches?

Well I think we should qualify that as not good enough to play for anyone else in the top 6. If we could find one or two with vast inheritances to look forward to as well that would be right handy.

I've long believed that we shouldn't train up any youngsters who will actually need the money they're going to earn from football. Its a waste of time with the rest, they'll just leave anyway. (That bit of info is hopefully in the black box already.)

Good point Scotty - what we really want is mediocre local players who are independently wealthy. Does anyone know of Dominic Gape's family business interests?

Guess Clyney said: "No deal"

Would've been a HUGE U turn if so considering everything that came out from all sources, including RK, NC, Les Reed and K Billy. Something must've whooshed his head back in the other direction pretty sharpish?

Maybe Liverpool just came in late on & turned his head. Wouldn't surprise me.

It's not hard is it. It's called money and lots of it.

He was simply stringing them along. Like I said a few weeks back, he never wanted to stay. He wants fame and money and that's it. He's a football mercenary .. I guarantee he'll end up at a team managed by Harry Redknapp.

Sorry, to be clear, he's going to Liverpool now but later in his career he'll end up at one of those clubs that buys over expensive has-beens in a bid to stay in the premier league, only to find they get relegated and before long go bankrupt.

Not going to miss Clyne one little bit.

Just like MP last summer is my guess.

I know Redknapp is a fan of the knackered old has-beens but I think Pochettino might be a bit too far past his peak even for Arry...

Oh for the good old days when gents played football and rugger to pass the time whilst training to be barristers and doctors

and then gave it up when the little woman said they had to be home for tea on Saturdays.

Very true. And back in those halcyon days a bloke could have a drink in his club without any danger of the ladies being admitted. Or the snug at the local boozer. AND you could smoke a snout in there without getting arrested, I don't know what the world has come to......sniff..
