The9 Posted 12 June, 2015 Share Posted 12 June, 2015 Slime green. Darker green would be so much better. Probably the worst away since the white one we could never wear. But its just a kit so doesnt really matter. Odd that the club have edited the pic on the OS to make it seem a different shade of green than it actually is. Not unprecedented, I spend 3 weeks of 2013 thinking our black adidas away kit had silver trim and shorts.

Chez Posted 12 June, 2015 Share Posted 12 June, 2015 I don't like it at all. Personally I'm not a fan of the sash. It's a Crystal Palace thing in my eyes. The 125 year kit was fine, but the use here isn't anything to do with our history, its all to do with Adidas and them wanting to get their bog standard designs on the backs of professional players. I have to say the combination of colours are drab and green kits in general just don't work for me. Plymouth, fine, the rest should leave the colour to keepers (enjoyed the fact our keepers returned to green this year - even if the badge was treated exceptionally badly on them). Actually I especially hate the way the club badge is treated here too. Going for a montone colour scheme makes it disappear into the blandness of the shirt and dare I say it cheapens it. With these drab colours you need `accent colours and features (badge, addidas logo) to lift the ordinariness of the shirt in much the same way the gold items on the Championship promotion shirt did to great effect. I see this as just another generic Adidas kit, but in `our' colours, not that they are even that. I know its been done to death with the home shirt, but I would expect something designed exclusively for Saints not simply a shirt to promote Adidas' club kits. The current away strip is much better than this. If I'm honest I really don't like Adidas kits. Their `bar chart' style badge is naff - they should return the old one, the three stripe branding makes everything so,...oh I don't know, rigid and conformist? In general I prefer the Nike kits, they feel much more exclusive and original, and they tend to use their branding in a much more delicate way. Adidas just ram the three stripes down your throat. I'm sure there will be a counter argument here, but that's my perception. All just my opinion of course. I wouldn't ever buy one of these things, but I do like my club to be seen in the highest regard, be that performance on the pitch, treatment of fans or even design of shirt. This shirt let's the side down fractionally, but I won't lose sleep over it.
LostBoys Posted 12 June, 2015 Share Posted 12 June, 2015 Horrible - I hate green. If it was dark blue with a yellow sash it would have been similar to the Sweden away kit 2012 - arguably the best kit ever produced and true to Saints heritage with the yellow
Matthew Le God Posted 12 June, 2015 Share Posted 12 June, 2015 (edited) If we didn't win the FA Cup wearing yellow and blue in 1976 would these Saints fans still have a fixation that every away kit from now on has to be yellow and blue? Did our away kit future come down to a coin toss for who out of Saints and Man Utd would play in their away kit? Saints didn't always wear yellow and blue away kits before 1976, should they really have to after 1976? The fact is we did win the FA cup, our only major trophy and yellow and blue has 40+ years of history. And, despite that, no we don't have a fixation with the colour. Plenty of people, for instance, have been happy with black when we've worn it.

I absolutely loved the Umbro white pin stripe kit and still think that is the best kit we have ever had, but this latest away kit is shyte both in design and colour. I agree with Lostboys, a yellow and blue version of this design would look better. The colours and design are shyte IMO. I don't really like Adidas kits in general and IMO the club should get a unique design. In the post you have quoted and where I have inserted photos I was merely pointing out that if we have to have this design couldn't a better combination of colours be selected. I have struggled to find a worse pair - in fact all the ones I have shown are better than the green/blue. Obviously the points I have made are my views and they differ from yours, but that is allowed you know. Edited 12 June, 2015 by Chez
