SNSUN Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Without sounded too pesimistic, I think it's fair to say that hardly anyone will be predicting a Saints win. We could play out for a draw, but even that will take some doing. Whatever the size of defeat (which is what I predict), I just hope the boys play well enough to not disgrace themselves. Confidence is at a low ebb without a heavy double-figures defeat to have to contend with. Saints 0 United 5 is my prediction, with Kelvin doubling his price tag.
LaptopSaint Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Three-One United with commentators cooing over our passing patterns near the half way line.
Big Ron fan Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Utd, with only about 3 or 4 regular first-team players, will coast to a 1-0 or 2-0 half-time lead and then take their foot even further off the gas. Final score 3-0.
dubai_phil Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Medium sized Steak & Guinness Pie for dinner (8pm kick off here) 4 pints of Guinness 2 large Bacardi & Cokes 3 Bullfrogs after to numb the pain of the abuse in the pub. EoA will probably manage 6 pints without bursting and insist on a Jaeger Bomb or two
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Saints 0-6 Vastly superior United Embarrassment all round.
Saint J 77 Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 well the way things are going, I would say minimum 4-0 to Utd maximum 8-0 hopefully it wouldn't be any higher than that. Although my mind keeps thinking of that time Man Utd beat Ipswich at Old Trafford 9-0. Whatever the score I think we all agree that we lose!
John D Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I'm feeling positive today. Saints take lead in 1st half but utd equalise with 10 min to go. We get stuffed five nil in replay
SaintRobbie Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Big full page article in The Sun today over the train in the boardroom and a reply from Lowe saying Lawrie Mac left the club skint. Here we go. National media now engaged.
Dan83 Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 The only prediction I'm making is that Surman and Lallana won't play, paving the way for their departures without being cup-tied or injured. This is a joke, happens all over the place - players who are off suddenly get a minor injury! Look at Heskey at Wigan who suddenly has an injury, and Onuoha at Man City who suddenly has a minor injury come cup-tie weekend! If they don't play Saturday, I'd bet my bottom dollar they're off!
Under Weststand Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Big full page article in The Sun today over the train in the boardroom and a reply from Lowe saying Lawrie Mac left the club skint. Here we go. National media now engaged. LMFAO so now its Lawrie's fault were broke the bloke just won't take any responsibility will he. Even if it was all Lawrie's fault do we still need to get rid of the memories of our greatest day? For A picture of a train. As for my prediction I predict we will lose, hope its honourably but fear it will be embarrassing.
trousers Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 score draw. +1 You can just see it happening....
krissyboy31 Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 After rattling up a record score, Man Utd easily progressed to the next round and now await the 4th Round draw. That's more like it!!
saint lard Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I can only see a loss for Saints unfortunately. However, after the match we will get a glowing review from Sir Alex, explaining that we are the best footballing side that they have beaten.
Hatch Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 It will be 4 - 0 to them even if Ronaldo plays on his own.
Weston Saint Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 The only prediction I'm making is that Surman and Lallana won't play, paving the way for their departures without being cup-tied or injured. Look at Heskey at Wigan who suddenly has an injury, and Onuoha at Man City who suddenly has a minor injury come cup-tie weekend! If they don't play Saturday, I'd bet my bottom dollar they're off! Lallana has an ankle injury that put him out on crutches. He is at least 2 weeks away from fitness.
saintrich Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Lallana has an ankle injury that put him out on crutches. He is at least 2 weeks away from fitness. I thought the OS said he was in contention to play against Reading last week, after recovering from his knock?
Weston Saint Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I thought the OS said he was in contention to play against Reading last week, after recovering from his knock? They may say that but he will not be fit.
brightspark Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Its got 4-0 written all over it. A couple from Tevez, 1 from Park, 1 from Welbeck. The closest Saints will get to scoring is a chipped free kick from 50 yards out that lands in Kuzszcak's hands...
70's Mike Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 On another thread before i heard about Cork i predicted a 2-0 win for Saints because i will not go to a game without HOPE. but now have changed my mind to 3 nil United what a f*cking mess
trousers Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Some mixed views on this Man Utd message board: http://community.manutd.com/forums/t/29443.aspx Several posters seem to believe that Ferguson will stick with his '2nd team' policy against Derby in the Carling Cup and take a relatively strong 'preparation for Chelsea' squad to SMS.... Baton down the hatches!
Pilchards Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Saints play superb and are heading for a 1-1 draw when some lucky bugger pokes the ball in to make it 2-1 to them. Although they only had 6 seniors in the side they will still be a class above us although we had all the flicks etc.
SO31 Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 If we can keep it to 0-3 then we can consider it a triumph of ineptitude over skill !
Hatch Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Various best bets. Man Utd 3/10 draw 9/2 Saints 12/1 Saints to win 1-0 28/1 Man Utd to win 4-0 (14/1), 5-0 (28/1), 6-0 (80/1). 10-0 (500/1) 0-0 draw 16/1 First scorer D McG 12/1 , BWP 14/1 Surman & Lallana 25/1
La BoIS Saint Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Last time I checked on Betfair (can't do it from work) the "any other score" odds - basically either team has to score at least 4, no prizes for guessing which one, were around 4/1. That might be a good bet.
Andy_Porter Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Saints are 12/1 to win and 1,000/1 to win the cup on Skybet. Easy money.
Red_No_7 Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 i predict the concourse will get trashed http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6DnC1pdMcVk
trousers Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Lowe is onto a publicity win-win with this game. Either way it will buy him more time at the helm. You can see the post-match TV interviews now.... A defeat will be heralded as a gallant effort by a young team "heading-in-the-right-direction". Anything better than a defeat will be heralded a spectacular demonstration that the 'plan' is on track (regardless of league performances).
egreog Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Saints 0 (and that bit is guaranteed with our powder puff strike force)...Man U 8..........at which point they will just play keep ball for as long as possible and make the whole thing seem what it is............a one sided farce showing how far Saints have slumped in 5 yrs
Marsdinho Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 We will walk this cup.... Seriously, I think it will be Saints 1 Man Utd 100 million (Saints go 1 up inside 5 mins)
IronCitySaint Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 3-0 to them. Think this game will actually prove to be a huge anti-climax with them playing a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers and us missing a number of key players either mysteriously injured (i.e. being transfered) or loanees that are not allowed to play. There will be a lot of passing around in midfield by both teams but with them having the more class to actually put the ball in the net. Actually, all a bit like the last time we played them in the cup.
ericofarabia Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Medium sized Steak & Guinness Pie for dinner (8pm kick off here) 4 pints of Guinness 2 large Bacardi & Cokes 3 Bullfrogs after to numb the pain of the abuse in the pub. All in all a pretty fruitless night out  SFC 0 Moan U PLC 6

Actually probably safer than a disgruntled EoA on the radio.... See you Sunday.
forever a red and white Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 saints 1-0 man u or draw believe..
