DT Posted 9 June, 2015 Author Posted 9 June, 2015 Then again, perhaps: http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/08/southampton-line-up-loan-signing-of-real-madrids-martin-odegaard-in-transfer-window-5235676/
SuperSAINT Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Then again, perhaps: http://metro.co.uk/2015/06/08/southampton-line-up-loan-signing-of-real-madrids-martin-odegaard-in-transfer-window-5235676/ Wouldn't take anything Metro reports as gospel. I think he's much more likely to stay in Spain.
S-Clarke Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 They want to loan him to a La Liga club. Nothing to see here.
Dig Dig Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 From what I have read about him since he joined Real Madrid, I would rather we avoided him. His advisors seem to have a jumped up opinion of him and he's been difficult to manage in the Real U21 set up.
EBS1980 Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Seems too early to go out on loan. Would a 17yr feature too much? Rather take in the year after.
Chris27687 Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 There would be literally no point in signing him. We would never be able to afford his wages down the line, so he would never come here permanently. So we would be essentially developing a player for free whilst hindering our own youth players whose spot he would be taking. Also from the sounds of it, he and his family have let this all go to his head and he looks like a disaster waiting to happen. He turned us down for £80k/week in Madrid - he made his bed, no pun intended, now he can lie in it.
Wrensup Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Yes please... in what possible way does loaning him benefit us?
lloydie Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 There would be literally no point in signing him. If he came in and bagged 15 goals from midfield and got a number of assists too, only to go back to Madrid, would you really complain that he took a space that Hesketh (same sort of position) wouldnt have been as effective in?! (Plus Hesketh could also go out on loan himself)

He didn't, they got relegated.
Killers Knee Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 The boy is ruined. He earns a pretty penny but I fear the big lights and big fees have done him more damage than good. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Lighthouse Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 It's this sort of logic that convinced hull to essentially swap Long for Hernandez. But what would of happened if he scored 30 goals?!?! He didn't, they got relegated. Hull's relegation had nothing to do with missing Long. They barely clung to safety last season and narrowly went down this year. There was very little difference in the quality of the two teams. If MO is better than one of our current players then of course there is a point to loaning him in. He wouldn't be taking a place away from one of our youth team players, if they were good enough they would already be in the team.
