S-Clarke Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 Not sure if anyone has seen this, but our brand value has grown 89% in the last year. We're now above clubs such as Inter Milan, At. Madrid, Napoli. Southampton, thanks in part to their recent successes under Mauricio Pochettino and Ronald Koeman, are this year's fastest growing brand. The Saints' brand value is up 89% to $183million (£120million). http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3115064/Manchester-United-world-s-billion-dollar-brand-Red-Devils-beat-Real-Madrid-Bayern-Munich-Barcelona-surge-past-mega-money-milestone.html
Colinjb Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 That is quite astonishing. Rated above clubs who have been European Champions, are effectively national institutions.... Being in the Premier League really can be a blessing, but also a curse for being so competitive.

Being in the Premier League really can be a blessing, but also a curse for being so competitive. It's complete ******** in my opinion. No doubt our 'brand' has got better, but we have a better brand than the likes of Atletico Madrid, Ajax, Inter Milan, Celtic, Roma, Valencia, Benfica etc? Give me a break

But it is because we are in the Premier League....hence why Palace, Stoke and Swansea are also seen as having valuable branding. Fingers crossed we can make the most of it.

Yep you're right and whilst the people pulling together the rankings obviously have their own methodology for what is important for a 'brand' at a football level we're nowhere near as 'branded' as lots of clubs we're ranked above.
Batman Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 when the new TV deal kicks in, the top 20 will be dominated by Premier League clubs
Matthew Le God Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 Useful for when the club is looking for main sponsors from 2016/17 onwards.
Deano6 Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 * apologies for he typo, was supposed to say "Bertrand value". Mods - can you change the title?
JxgrSaint Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 Next season I would think we'll be above West Ham and maybe Everton too
saintmatt Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 I'd imagine our academy is a big part of this, can't see how we'd be above villa, newcastle etc otherwise
verlaine1979 Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 The methodology as described in the article uses the word 'calculate' several times when what they actually mean is 'speculate'.
sir woody Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 We could do with a major sponsor for next season, lets face it. We have had some pretty crap sponsors considering we are in the biggest league in the world.
Chez Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 We could do with a major sponsor for next season, lets face it. We have had some pretty crap sponsors considering we are in the biggest league in the world. Yeah being sponsored by a great local employer is crap, let's get one of those offshore betting companies, a legalised loan shark or some other tax dodging multinational, much better.
cellone Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 Yeah being sponsored by a great local employer is crap, let's get one of those offshore betting companies, a legalised loan shark or some other tax dodging multinational, much better. :)

We have had some pretty crap sponsors considering we are in the biggest league in the world. I remember Cortese saying a while back that the owners preferred to use locally based companies, it might be a case of the Liebherrs liking the idea of helping local businesses to grow. If that's not the case then no reason we can't get a decent wedge from someone. Just no betting sites or loan companies for the love of god.
Redslo Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Yeah being sponsored by a great local employer is crap, let's get one of those offshore betting companies, a legalised loan shark or some other tax dodging multinational, much better. You have no ambition. Surely there is an offshore betting company that is also a tax dodging multinational. And aren't most banks really just tax dodging multinational loan sharks. Surely we can pick up one of them to give us lots of money--maybe even tax free offshore money.
John B Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Next season I would think we'll be above West Ham and maybe Everton too Why/
Batman Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Next season I would think we'll be above West Ham and maybe Everton too what makes you think this?
JonnyOldBoy Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Brand value has to do with ability to attract investment and revenue. The reason we are higher than many Spanish clubs is simply because the Spanish Economy is in ruins and brands over there struggle to attract anything , let alone cash.... regards our sponsor.... I would never ever let my kids wear a shirt with Wonga on it for the very least ethical grounds and that says it all...
buctootim Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Even Aston Villa being sold for between £150m-£200m. I know its a big club etc but they've done little for years - and need big money spent.
eelpie Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 when the new TV deal kicks in, the top 20 will be dominated by Premier League clubs ...while conversely, Premier League clubs successes in international competitions decline. Sorry folks. Time for Saints to buck the trend again, perhaps.
Saint IQ Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 This table looks dodgy as, City 4th? Above Barcelona, West Ham 16th! Us 18th! Above Dozens of huge european clubs. Smells a bit fishy to me.

aintforever Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Yep you're right and whilst the people pulling together the rankings obviously have their own methodology for what is important for a 'brand' at a football level we're nowhere near as 'branded' as lots of clubs we're ranked above. It's all about money, and thanks to the Premier League we p!ss all over some clubs with bigger fan bases and better history. It's not methodology, just maths.
