CB Fry Posted 7 June, 2015 Posted 7 June, 2015 That's what Milan thought in 2005. By 2230 they'd lost it on penalties.

Ohio Saint Posted 7 June, 2015 Posted 7 June, 2015 Ah, you've gone for the exact date when Satan buys himself a pair of thermal underwear! I know the thread is tongue in cheek and inspired by other madness in another thread, but is the real point of it to serve as a troll magnet to get them all into one place before we drop the troll nuke?

True. But our chance of winning the CL is not actually 0 so if we do this will give someone the chance to claim they are a genius. Hopefully, me in 2034. Or maybe Southampton will win it in 2083 after its original home city of Southampton, England has been flooded out of existence by global warming and the club has resettled in the new coastal port of Southampton, Pennsylvania.
Redslo Posted 7 June, 2015 Author Posted 7 June, 2015 Never. Just a hunch. Not in my life time. Toomer, what makes you so much more optimistic than Jack?
S-Clarke Posted 7 June, 2015 Posted 7 June, 2015 Give me another season or 2 and I'll get them there.
Bucks Saint Posted 7 June, 2015 Posted 7 June, 2015 I am not helping you with your spread betting unless you seriously cut me in.
SNSUN Posted 7 June, 2015 Posted 7 June, 2015 Pompey will win it before we do. I'm betting my life savings on it. (42 pence.)
Jez Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 2067 - 1 May Whoops- silly me, I meant 2076 1 May You're gonna look like a right idiot when we win it in 2067
Whitey Grandad Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 2067 - 1 May I'll be nearly 118 years old then so I sincerely hope it's not 2076.
SaintZamboni Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 Never. If FFP wasn't enough to keep most of Europe out of the competition I'm sure another rule will be introduced to maintain the status quo. It'll be - only 2% of revenue from academy sales or must have spent more than 20m on one player to be allowed in
cellone Posted 8 June, 2015 Posted 8 June, 2015 If we don't take our chance in 2067 we may rue it for a long time.
Saint IQ Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 2085 just in time for our 200 year anniversary and hopefully I'll still be alive to see it!
hutch Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Watching the final last Saturday it occurred to me just how far we are away from the quality needed to be anywhere near winning this trophy. Qualifying is one thing and we may well do that soonish, but we are worlds away from being able to compete with the likes of Barcelona. Even Juventus looked well beyond us. We will never have the cash to bring in the quality of squad needed to compete at the highest level. Perhaps I am just having an Alpine moment, but maybe Europa is the best we can hope for?
Turkish Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 I presume people are talking about on Football Manager.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 Hmmmm...thinking positive thoughts... ...are we there yet?

Window Cleaner Posted 9 June, 2015 Posted 9 June, 2015 How long is a piece of string ? Same question really.
sambosa75 Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 From next season is it not right that the Europa League winner qualifies for the next season's Champions League?
Redslo Posted 10 June, 2015 Author Posted 10 June, 2015 From next season is it not right that the Europa League winner qualifies for the next season's Champions League? That is correct. it was also true this year.
trousers Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 we wont be winning the Europa League either Source?
The9 Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 True. But our chance of winning the CL is not actually 0 so if we do this will give someone the chance to claim they are a genius. If there's flooding due to rising tides, how exactly does a causeway open linking Pennsylvania to the European mainland? Or is this one of those "Israel is in UEFA" things?
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 Living in the real world I reckon we've got a better chance of winning the Europa League than qualifying for the Champions League via our league position. Not that either are likely.
trousers Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 Living in the real world Fair enough. Which teams in the Europa league would you say are significantly better than us?
Batman Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 Fair enough. Which teams in the Europa league would you say are significantly better than us? many of them. throw in the 3rd places from the CL
Batman Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 Ok, thanks for the clarity.... Liverpool Spurs Fiorentina Dnipro Villareal Schalke Napoli Marseille Besiktas Bilboa Borrussia Dortmund throw in 3rd place CL sides. going to eastern europe/Moscow would be incredibly difficult too

Batman Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 Personally I don't think the first two are "significantly" better than us. if not significantly, they are still better than us. they have far more experience and better squads to cope with injuries, rotation and europa league games/premier league mish-mash
maysie Posted 10 June, 2015 Posted 10 June, 2015 If we win the Champions League I will lick my dogs balls
