Was the same before woy as well though tbf have to go back to the 90s to find the last time I enjoyed watching England play

I dunno, i enjoyed 2006 .

when we beat Argentina 3-2 with Owen scoring in the last minute was another good performance.

Meh, it was a nothing game before hand, and we always struggle v Ireland.

Lol @ people having hissy fits about the performance, probably same people that do it when Saints have friendlies and don't win. As long as we win next week I couldn't have cared less if we lost this 5-0.

Just got back from a tournament at Stoneham. Glad I was watching local under 9's rather than what sounded like a predicitable, lacklustre international friendly.

I think I enjoyed England games more when our players weren't in them - I had no need to feign interest then.

Yep agree with that, I would have been totally unmoved if we had lost that game 5-0 to Ireland just the same as when saints lose in a friendly against say a Swiss league side. I am totally numb as it is never a true indicator of how the teams performing. In fact I am more than happy to see saints go into a new season winning none of their friendly's.

I mean it makes sense doesn't it, you don't want to go into your next game too confident do you. As any boxer will tell you, if he keeps getting caught on the chin by his spa partner don't worry, it will not happen in the real fight, why would it.

Two championship players, including Mcgoaldrought ahead of Long.

there is a lot of difference between starting a game and getting 45 mins.... and coming on as a late sub. That's why McG. had his chance from the start.

Any player looking make a serious impression must be able do so in the first half, and not have to wait until he's coming up against tiring defenders after 60 mins..

Mc G. just wasn't in it at all, and hardly got a kick, let alone a shot on target. Shane Long has a track record for Ireland and doesn't have anything to prove.
