Horley CTFC Saint Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 I'll be out of the country during July with only limited access to the Internet so does anyone know when the Summer Meltdown is due to start as I wouldn't want to miss any opportunity to stress out purely because I'm abroad? S-Clarke Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 It'll probably start when Morgan leaves, even though it's expected. July 2nd.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 It won't start until Neil Ashton declares on the back page of the Daily Mail that it has started.

CB Fry Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 How many constitutes an exodus? I think we measure it on the time it takes someone on here to have a paddy and start grizzling how they want all English clubs except Saints to lose every single European match they play. Has anyone done that yet?
angelman Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 But you failed to say why it was nonsense. Do you have any thoughts as to why or is it just some throw away line? Why do you want teams that we want to rival to do well?

Why do you want teams that we want to rival to do well? Other people did it for me. It was a nonsense ramble about nothing. Just jealously ranting about other clubs on a thread about another player leaving. You and every Saints fan in Britain willing all other clubs to lose all other European matches every single season is not going to stop Morgan Schneiderlin joining Manchester United. Nonsense. Why do you want teams that we want to rival to do well? It was an irrelevant argument if we're honest. Big teams buy big players, offer big money, play in big competitions. We're not a big team and we never will be. This is what comes from having 5/6 years of sustained success, totally skewed expectations. We have hit our ceeling league wise, in my opinion. Europa is our CL, and then if we win it, we have CL. That's remote, yes, but still a bigger opening that finishing top 4 is. If people start expecting more and more and more after this season, then they will be coming back down to earth with an almighty whack.
angelman Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 It was a nonsense ramble about nothing. Just jealously ranting about other clubs on a thread about another player leaving. Jealousy? What on earth are you on about. If I was jealous of other clubs then I would probably support them. And which clubs was I ranting about? It was all of them except Saints. Non specific. Does that mean I'm jealous of all other clubs? Asinine. You and every Saints fan in Britain willing all other clubs to lose all other European matches every single season is not going to stop Morgan Schneiderlin joining Manchester United. Where did you read that I thought that that might stop him going to Man U? I think you need to read people's post more closely. The financial divide exists and gets even larger when clubs are in the CL. That is a fact. I want to keep that financial gap as small as possible. I guess though, seeing as you think that is nonsense, you are happy for the ever expanding wealth gap. Tell me, are you content for SFC to finish 7th and no higher? Nonsense. Arrogance No. But I want Southampton to have a chance to qualify for the Champions League in a good year. If English clubs do poorly in Europe that will never happen. JxgrSaint Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 If English clubs do too poorly in Europe and the league coefficient drops, we would eventually lose the Europa place for the team finishing 7th and the CL place for the team finishing 4th - then we'd NEVER have a chance of getting CL and EL would be even rarer. Be careful what you wish for...
CB Fry Posted 5 June, 2015 Share Posted 5 June, 2015 (edited) Jealousy? What on earth are you on about. If I was jealous of other clubs then I would probably support them. And which clubs was I ranting about? It was all of them except Saints. Non specific. Does that mean I'm jealous of all other clubs? Asinine. Here's your original quote. He obviously doesn't realise that every time another club wins a trophy or does well in CL, that they get even more money and make it even harder for us to compete against them. Me, I want every English club to lose every European game they play in. If we want to compete with them (some think we never will be able to do so, which might well be true) then it is common sense that they do not gain an EVEN larger financial advantage over us. Now if Morgan went to Juve, I would be "happier" for him to win trophies if it meant an English team didn't (with of course the exception of Saints). But the only English team I want him to win trophies with is Southampton. As Millbrook said, it's the Sky generation who like watching the big English teams succeed in Europe and dominate the domestic league. But what they seemingly don't realise is that it is to the detriment of the team that they supposedly support. So this quote is about all other clubs except Saints is it? "Me, I want every English club to lose every European game they play in". So if Leicester win the FA Cup and Swansea have a miracle season and finish fourth and get CL you'd still want them to lose every European match they play? Wanting "all of them" to lose all European matches is jealously on a ridiculously bitter scale. Weird. Anyway, it's fine if you are that jealously bitter but not sure it supports any kind of point you're making about Schneiderlin leaving and how it is somehow the fault of "the Sky generation" whoever the fu ck that is. If we finished 7th five years in a row that would be pretty effing dandy, actually. Especially with a few Europa adventures in, plus chuck in a cup final or two too. Tell you what, I'll thoroughly enjoy that prospect. Love it in fact. Love it. You enjoy screaming at the TV whenever Arsenal dare to win an Champions League group match and getting all upset that we won't be in it ourselves because "the Sky generation" are to blame or something. Meanwhile I'll enjoy Saints attempting to deliver the plan that the management have put in place. It's going great. Try and enjoy it without that jealousy eating you up. Mr Biscuits Posted 6 June, 2015 Share Posted 6 June, 2015 Why don't you two just get a room?
Saint_Tony Posted 6 June, 2015 Share Posted 6 June, 2015 I'll go for June 29th. Schneiderlin and Clyne have left and no one has been signed. Our top target Claasie signs for Roma. Les Reed is a liar and the club lack any ambition; nailed on relegation. One month till EL qualifiers and the club is a mess. I've just realised the above is an entirely possible scenario; however, I will not worry one bit, Les will have it all under control.
