Osvaldo in the news for all the wrong reasons... again

Of course, that's out of the question. On the pitch he would have done more. Having Tadid, Mane and Osvaldo would have been a joy to watch. But there are some standarts for a professional players and he fails to meet them. He is a cancer. For any squad. Just a waste of talent.

There are many more thing he did, like being too sympathetic with violent Boca hoolingan's actions in a game against River. But the scandal with his wife was just too much to take and sealed his fate. I don't want to see him in Boca nor Southampton. But to be fair, that doesen't mean he is less talented than Pelle.

Out of interest, how did he really do at Boca? I saw he scored a few goals, but don't know more than that.

Compared to other clubs who get it spot on every single time?

It's not that, it's that our biggest and most hyped-up buys tend to have been our biggest failures and not just for the amount of wasted money they've represented!

The season before we signed Osvaldo he was the joint 3rd top scorer in Serie A.

Yeah 16 goals in a sh1t league. Wow! Luca Toni scored 22 this season and he's 38 and rubbish. Osvaldo wouldn't have managed 5 for us this season.

Especially as he doesn't seem to rate any kind of team ethic.

The guy is a moron end of. If I were the saints chairman I'd just terminate his contract and go to court to fight out any kind of compensation/wage demand.

Have any of our hugely anticipated 'will they won't they' signings actually come good. Even Skacel wasn't the player we hoped for

At least Rudi supplied us with endless "Has he signed yet?" jokes.

It's no surprise that the two transfers that bypassed our transfer committee and were pursued relentlessly by the previous chairman, despite them being huge gambles at massive prices, have turned out to be the two worst signings in the history of the club. There have been some other poor ones at relatively low fees, but nothing compared to the huge waste of money these two have been.

Thanks NC

In fairness we wouldn't have been in the position to squander millions on those two if NC hadn't brought ML to the club.

Scored some great goals but had some shocking misses too. At a first look it may seem that he doesen't care, but that's just his stlye. He is so confident in this ability, sometimes too much for his own good. He had some diving tackles, played with urgency when it was needed, he cared for the team and loves the club. The thing that impressed is his vision and intelligence to create offense. He made many goals for Boca's wingers.

It seems that all that intelligence in the pitch takes all the space in his brain, well... taking away sex, I mean.

I was loving him but ended up hating him, I can't separate the person from the player anymore.

Although it could be that his brain space is somewhat similar to that of my first PC, 4 bars of 1Mo memory each, take away

the Sonic and the iffy photos and there wasn't much processing space for much else. Like Osvaldo it also cost a great deal of money, figure of 28000 francs (about 2800£) comes to mind.

Why ask such a stupid question? Or was it rhetorical?

I'm assuming you wouldn't be posting such an emotive response if you'd bothered to read the thread containing exactly the same story you posted but two days previously, so yes, it's rhetorical.

No.

:)

Still, more importantly who on earth is going to take him off our hands?

Hopefully Liverpool. That would be a laugh.

He can be Balloteli's replacement, or he can try and get both of them to play together. That would be entertainment for the season sorted.

Would people be happy to let him go on a free? Obviously we want to get something for him, but if no one took him, we would be liable for his £2.5m or a bit less wage while not ever playing him. Same with Gaston.

Delighted to let him go on a free just to get the wages off. Less so with Gaston, who isn't disruptive and is miles better than some of the kids widely being praised on here for having a pulse and being in the academy.

I think at this point the ability to get rid of Osvaldo and free up £2.5m+ in wages a year would be welcome.

I think Ramirez still has some resale value given his age - I think we could flog him to an Italian club for a few million and someone like Inter could pay all of his wages too without us needing to make a contribution.

Doubt we could even give him away at this point. That's what? 4 clubs in the last couple of seasons who have tried him but not wanted to keep him. Coupled with his massive ego he'll only go to a club he thinks are worthy of his talents means he is basically unsaleable even for free.

You used the same made up story in relation to Ryan Bertrand. Weirdo.

I wondered why I read this again, and I remember commenting last time about what made up nonsense it was. Didn't register with me this time that it was Bertrand last time!

tbh, I almost believe it now he used Osvaldo!

Although some of his antics have meant clubs haven't wanted to sign him, he was as well-behaved at Juve as anyone could expect, and their response was typical in that they were happy to get someone at a risk on lower wages but not prepared to take them on permanently. That's just the nature of loan signings, especially those of troublesome players. Clubs will take a short term gamble if there's value but none of them are going to commit to anything when there are safer bets out there for the long term.

It's practically an internet meme paragraph for celebrity behaviour, having googled the one word in the text that isn't a word to narrow down the responses to that particular paragraph, you just get a list of that paragraph with celeb name and weird behaviour phrase changed. There's almost certainly a text generator page spewing it out for different names with 95% unchanged content.

Reports that Osvlado will definitely be back at Southampton were a bit premature it seems. Boca's President appears to have done a u-turn and is willing to either take him back on loan or try and do a player exchange to get him.

http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/06/05/boca-juniors-seemingly-change-stance-on-southampton-flop-osva/

The Argentine club's president has said they are keen to secure a deal for the troublesome forward.

Boca Juniors President Daniel Angelici has told TYC Sports that the club are keen to keep Southampton striker Dani Osvaldo.

The 29-year-old has been on loan at his boyhood club since February, after a similar agreement at Serie A side Inter Milan ended in turmoil when he fell out with club officials.

He has been in decent form for the Argentinian outfit, scoring seven goals in 15 games, although a permanent move seemed unlikely after the club ruled out trying to sign him, according to the Mirror.

However, the club’s president has now hinted at a complete turnaround, saying they are keen to make a deal happen.

“We will talk with Southampton because we would like to keep him,” he said.

“We will ask, or renewal of the loan, or exchange with other players. It will be important also to know what is the will of the player.”

Osvaldo remains Southampton’s record signing after joining from Roma in 2013 but it has been a far from happy stint for him with the Saints, with a training ground bust-up with captain Jose Fonte seeing him leave on loan to Juventus.

That was followed by the incident at Inter Milan, with trouble seeming to follow the Argentine forward wherever he goes. He has scored just three times in 15 appearances for the Saints, who will likely be keen to sell should Boca make a suitable offer.

What do ou expect, they're trying to buy Tevez, there'll be nothing left in the piggy bank after that. We should just give them Osvaldo.

A free transfer :scared: ..can't you hear all the objections now, but Osvaldo (and to some extent Ramirez) are a bit like these expensive Italian sports cars......

They cost a lot to buy.....but even more to maintain. The running costs are totally disproportionate considering their actual benefit (total ego trip :smug:)

Cortese must have made a few more friends in Italian football circles when he sanctioned the purchase of these two .

They looked very polished ... in the showroom, but never produced the performance they were intended to ......

Keeping them any longer, whilst trying to recover some of the original outlay AND convince someone that they still have potential is a no-go .

With the level of their " reported salaries "...it could be costing us around £500K/month just to keep them on. :mcinnes: what a headache..

No way. If have seen both of them play this year. All their games. Osvaldo would have made this team much much better than Pelle. Osvaldo can play as a false 9, the way he protects the ball, his passing game... way better than Pelle, a much more complete striker. He is stupid and a bad person, but... as football player he is world-class.

The only problem would be

a) No one would pass to him

b) no one would support him

c) no one would play with him

d) no one would train with him

e) no one would protect him

Apart from that, he would be great.

Get rid, lesson learnt, move on.

Perhaps Ponch would like him at Spurs for 5 lion bars and a copy of the Pirates of the Carribean box set.

Well next season it could be that other than Jose and JRod no one else much would even remember him (forgot Victor)

I would absolutely pee my pants if we sold him to Liverpool.

I think this has got legs.

If we can convince Brenda that an osvaldo / balotelli all star Italian national striker combination will work wonders for Liverpool we may just get our money back.....

Failing that, take him out the back and bullet him

They both remind me of a Fiat 128 I had years ago, looked good (then) but was a waste of money. I think I px'd it for an Austin. Another sad story.
