andoru Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 When do loan deals typically end? I notice the official site has a piece about Djuricic playing for Serbia in current weeks. Presumably they still consider him a Saints player then.

Presumably they still consider him a Saints player then. loan deals end at the end of the season as a rule, saw Falcao back in Monaco the other day. Why would they last any longer, it's not for the clubs taking the players on loan to pay for their holiday periods, that's down to the parent clubs. S-Clarke Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 Officially they go up until the last few days of June, on the opening of the transfer window (I think). But given that we've heard zilch of Filip or Elia so far, would kind of suggest there is no intention to keep them.

Strangely I have assumed from RK interviews that both will be permanent signings next season.
S-Clarke Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 Strangely I have assumed from RK interviews that both will be permanent signings next season. Which RK interviews out of interest? I wouldn't expect either to be here to be honest, I'd be quite alarmed if Elia turned up here again next year. Although at a push, Djuricic on another loan may be something. But if we sign either of those long-term, then we need our heads seeing to.
austsaint Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 I made an assumption (wrongly perhaps) that because RK started with Djuricic against Man City and brought Elia on as a sub, he still had both in mind for staying. Why play either if RK had already decided they were gone?

Why play either if RK had already decided they were gone? Probably because we didn't have much else, might as well play your full available squad for a game which has stuff playing on it. I think Djuricic was given an opportunity to really sell himself v City, but for me he didn't take it at all.

I thought Djuricic did quite well against City and showed more of an attacking mid-field instinct than JWP has.
The9 Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 I'd certainly be happy to sign Djuricic and Elia on loan again, unless we sign players who are obviously upgrades in their positions. But their European experience, previous experience with us, and understanding of how the club works, would be really useful in the early stages of the Europa League. I don't think they've done particularly poorly either, Elia obviously peaked early, but showed what he's capable of with the right motivation, and Djuricic was just showing signs of creativity and improved strength and ability to meet the challenges of the rapid Premier League when the season ended. They've both shown they can contribute, it's just whether we want players with a far greater pedigree, rather than relatively cheap short-term players with something to prove. Not sure they're permanent signings, no reason to think the loan option isn't possible again though.
max_saints Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 Don't think their respective clubs would be too keen on allowing them back here on loan again. Get the feeling their clubs want rid on perm transfers or at least on loan to a club with more interest in making it permanent. Fwiw, I wouldn't mind djuricic at half his reported 10m value
