Wiggles31 Posted 31 May, 2015 Share Posted 31 May, 2015 From player to manager this experience is going to be very helpful. He has played at every level in all tournaments and managed in the CL and Europa regularly at previous clubs. If any stat folk can elaborate on his experience/success (me being too lazy) that would be useful. Teams that have struggled for league form have often had managers with no or little previous experience to the European competitions which appears to have impacted their league form. Martinez Bruce Pochettino Laudrap Sherwood There must be others but really the point being that this experience is going to be important for us next season and hope that as a result we can avoid the so called Europa curse. Saints foreva Posted 31 May, 2015 Share Posted 31 May, 2015 Odd that you used Pochettino as an example. Spurs finished 5th this season.....

beatlesaint Posted 31 May, 2015 Share Posted 31 May, 2015 If we progress to the group stages and still don't have a squad big enough the amount of experience a manager has or not is irrelevant, if a player gets tired he gets tired and if lack of resources means that player has to play twice a week for a long spell like the group stage is then the league form and position in the table will suffer. Might not be a problem. He failed to get Feyenoord past the qualifying stages the two odd seasons he was there.

Do we know if we would be in the group stages BEFORE the transfer window shuts ?

Second leg of the last qualifying round is August 27. Transfer deadline is the following Monday (Sept 1).

Be interesting to see if we get past the second qualifier wether the club go out and secure a couple of squad players or loan signings to ease the burden on the squad.
