Little bit surprised at Rowe and Sinclair, however got to trust the management team.

Thankyou Jos and Artur for you're great contributions.

Sorry for my ignorance. All these were players out of contract? If so does anyone know why boruc's contract wasn't renewed last year?

All out of contract. Boruc was never a long-term option here and once Fraser was brought in, he was never going to stick around.

Sinclair was touted as being better than his brother, what happened?

We often tout our young players as the next this and a future that. We are mostly wrong.

If they've not made real inroads into the first team by the time they're 19 or 20 they're going to be Yeovil and Stevenage fodder. Can't even palm them off on Bournemouth now, them being a top team and all, still there's always Swindon.

Shame, least that stops the links with his brother

Not sure why you're always so negative about our academy. We're simply not mostly wrong, are we? Terrific academy.

I don wonder if we will ever see one of them become world class at saints and not be pretty good here and need to develop further at another club.

we are in a good position now.

Last day of season is next weekend when FA Cup final is played. So, as I said, transfer window is not yet officially open.

Even then officially this is only for transfers within England. In England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon as the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played.

There's obviously some really good players and a lot of chaff, it's the way academies and formation centres work, you cast the net wide

and see if you can catch a few big fish along with the tiddlers. Common knowledge, well in football circles anyway. It's a percentage game.

The release/retained list is for players that have a contract expiring on June 30th of that season.

Boruc doesn't want to play second fiddle to Forster.

Probably not, but we're in a position to see a lot more mileage out of them now. Before, even a ''PL'' club was seen as a pull for our young players, i.e Bale/Theo/Ox, but now we're established in the big league....only really the top 4 can tempt them away (in fact only the top 4 could tempt most of our guys away), so they'd need to have got to a pretty top class standard to move away now. So whilst we may not see them at their absolute world best, we will get to see them develop a lot more than we would have in the past.

It's true, but it's still not the case that ''we're mostly'' wrong! Our record points to the fact that we know what we're up to, and whilst there will always be castoffs due to the amount you recruit at that level, we have a very high success rate compared to many others.

I think not, every summer it's the same story, a couple that might eventually make something of themselves with the club and 5,6 or 7 castaways, go back through the seasons and you'll see that I'm not wrong. As I say it's a percentage game and 25% is a bloody good percentage. I have no interest in those cast off to other clubs.

Aldeweireld was here this season, but signing him this summer would be massive for us.

there is a massive, massive difference from a 35 year old keeper not good enough to start for saints who dropped down a league. to Toby Alderweireld, who is also wanted by other clubs (according to reports)

Cropper is no surprise as you would have thought having had US call ups he would have tried to push Gazza aside, but just seemed content treading water.

Harsh. I heard he had already declared his desire to move on and play regularly somewhere to cement his USA standing. Hardly the attitude of someone who was content treading water.

I think we may well eventually sign him actually, depends on whether Atletico get a transfer embargo or not, the price however will be way,way above the pittance agreed last summer.

I really don't think he had much choice in the matter really, he's never got a first team game for us I think and he's been here a while. Young for a keeper perhaps but certainly not a kiddy any more either.

Also think it's a shame about Rowe. Saw him play a couple of times and looked very decent at that level.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him forge a career at least at Lge 1 level...

I agree, and I think we could say that about quite a few of the lads, but the step-up to the first team is a mountain to climb compared to U21 level.

Surprised to see Cropper gone. He's looked decent whenever I've seen him. Shame he never got a chance.

Sad to see Mr Tuesday Night released. Jos was such a huge part in our promotion season and also seems like he was a great addition to the dressing room. I'll never forget his goal against West Ham at home and his goal against Coventry. That was the one inwhich there really was no going back. 2-0 is always a dodgy scoreline but in the form we were in at home to a poor Coventry side, 3-0 was game over.

As Nick Halling would say on our season review DVDs, thanks for the memories, Jos. You'll be remembered with affection!

Thank you Jos. A great contribution from the big guy and some very important performances on our way up.

Much maligned by Celtic when he came here. A lovely guy in person as well.

Those who played for us during our ascendancy will always have a special place in our hearts, along with Nigel. All the best in all you do

Off topic but didn't seem worth starting a new thread for.

I just clicked on the Saints Facebook page to try and get a link for today's presser...Then I remembered the season's finished...:(

To be honest, doesn't feel like the season is over for me yet - not until we know what happens on Saturday.

There seems to be very little break this year, only got to wait a matter of weeks and it's all started again. We only have 2 and bit weeks to wait until the fixtures are out!

Some teams have gone on a 'post season tour'

Madness really. More so when pochettino is suggesting Kane will suffer from burnout if he plays in the U21 tournament. Whilst picking him for games in the far east

Yeah I mentioned that in another thread, what are those pre-season tours all about? I mean I think we can take MP's comments about burn out with a pinch of salt now.

There's probably some decent $$$$ for the clubs though, which is probably why they do it. But in this day and age of everyone saying ''they don't get a break'' ...why create more games.
