cobbysouth Posted 27 May, 2015 Share Posted 27 May, 2015 i don't know if it's because he's leaving or if you guys haven't watched any of the games but clyne has been brilliant this season. Just because he's leaving still rate him fairly as that's the point of the thread. There's no way he's been our worst first team defender like some of you are saying. He can still be good if he leaves.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 27 May, 2015 Share Posted 27 May, 2015 Goalkeepers Forster-7 : Best of our limited options Davis-7 : Fantastic servant to the club - yes, he has issues, but for his age he is a top pro Gazzaniga-5 : Little confidence in him unfortunately, although I do believe he has improved Defenders Clyne-7 : A good season Fonte-9 : Great Captain and leader Toby-9 : Need to keep this guy as a priority Yoshida-7 : Has done well when called upon Gardos-5 : Not enough game time to get a grip in the team and not as good as Yoshida Bertrand- 8 : Great season, although his defensive positioning can let him down Targett- 6 : Solid understudy to Bertrand Midfielders Davis-6 : Can do the simple things well, but the harder stuff like shooting on target he is poor - we need an upgrade urgently Wanyama-8 : Great season Reed-7 : Rate this chap higher than Davis...good ball skills, passing...and he can shoot on target when given the opportunity JWP-6 : Has improved latter part of the season, but needs to improve further - not sure what his best position or job is to be honest Morgan-8 : A gifted player no doubt, but seems to pick up more injuries lately - contentious, but I think we can get as good or better (Clasie?) Tadic-6 : Not doing enough to convince me he deserves a regular place - he should be scoring more for his position/role Djuricic-5 : Another Gaston possibly, but might improve with more game time. Not sure if there's better for the money though. Attackers Pelle-7 : Hot and cold - one minute genius and goal threat, next he acts like a statue. If we sign Austin, can see him spending bench time Mane-8 : Great season...most improved player...can only get better...needs fast players to link him to be most effective Long-7 : Tenacious and a threat to defences - starting to gel with Mane and find a place out on the right Elia-3 : Offers little to a side that needed to score more
SFC Chris Posted 27 May, 2015 Share Posted 27 May, 2015 Mane lower than Targett and Kelvin Davis? Going purely by Football Manager style ratings then yes, absolutely. He was absolutely brutal until after Christmas (or there abouts) though has been excellent since. Therefore, I'd have his average rating around a 6.5 - with a 9 for his second half. Lorne Malvo Posted 29 May, 2015 Share Posted 29 May, 2015 Goalkeepers Forster - 8 - Was pretty unimpressed when we signed him but made me eat my own words, some great stops and performances. Now ..if only he could be more confident on crosses.. Davis - 7 - Didn't play much, but I give him 7 as he has made a lot of great saves, especially against Burnley and City. One average performace v Spurs from what I remember. Gazzaniga - 6 - No glaring errors, and a good game v Villa pushes him upto a 6. Defenders Clyne - 8 - Steady Eddie. Didn't think he was as dangerous this season as last, but got some nice goals this year. Fonte - 9 - Capped by Portugal, a great season and somehow not in the EPL team of the season. Toby - 8 - Great loan signing, versitile but mostly effective playing centre back. Great pair with Fonte. Would be a snip at 6.8m. Yoshida - 6 - Hasn't had much of a look in but done the job when needed. Gardos - 6 - As above. Bertrand - 8 - Same as Forster, wasn't too impressed first up with the signing, but played superb down that left side this year. Targett - 6 - One for the future, did fine when in the side. Midfielders Davis - 7 - Was going to put 6, but went for seven. Does the simple things well, but would like to see more from him. Wanyama - 8 - Great season, really stepped up I feel. If only he would pull the trigger a bit more around the box like he did at Celtic. Hope we keep him for next season. Reed - 6 - Like Targett, been steady when in. No fireworks as of yet. JWP - 7 - Becoming Davis Mk2 in my eyes, needs to really step up next season and state scoring from midfield and more assists other than set pieces. Morgan - 8 - Another solid season, great partnership with VW in the middle. Some nice goals too Tadic - 7 - Started the season on fire, then drifted into nothingness. Needs to get that consistancy up next year. Djuricic - 6 - Lightweight, adds nothing and reminds me of Ramirez. Didn't do enough to stay imo. Attackers Pelle - 8 - Started the season on well, had a bad patch but never gave up. Like players who give 110% even if things aren't going his way. That goal v QPR..... Mane - 8 - Started pants...dived a lot..then started to show what he was about. Pacey, agile and even at the end of the season showed he could stay on his feet. Can't wait for next year. Long - 7 - The season I expected, lots of running, lots of WTF was that moments, and some important goals. The Steven Davis of our strikers! Scored one of our goals of the season too. Ellia -5 - 2 goals v the Toon..this boy going to be great. Then nothing.....bye.

Beckenham Saint Posted 29 May, 2015 Share Posted 29 May, 2015 Mostly as sub though. I don't want to go all MLG on you, but 17 of his 21 appearances in the league were as starter
eelpie Posted 29 May, 2015 Share Posted 29 May, 2015 Forster - 8 Davis - 6 Gaza - 4 Clyne - 7 Fonte - 10 Toby -8 Bertrand - 10 Gardos - 5 Yoshida - 7 Targett - 6 Davis - 7 Wanyama - 9 Reed -6 JWP - 6 Morgan - 9 Tadic - 7 Djuricic and Elia both 5 (would not sign either) Pelle - 7 Mane - 8 Long - 7 Not too disimilar to OP. Gave Bertrand a 10 as he has been so consistent, really don't recall him having a bad game or making many key mistakes. I agree with Bertand on 10. Also think people are being a little hard on Gazz at 4 for his last performance in goal, but overall yes it has to be around 5. I expect him to improve with more experience in the first team - if we do not get a temp cover for Forster.

NewYorkSaint Posted 1 June, 2015 Share Posted 1 June, 2015 C'mon guys, I think some of our players deserve a little more love. Here are my ratings.... Forster - 9 Davis - 7 Gaza - 5 Clyne - 8 (9-10 in first half of season) Fonte - 8 (that's player rating...great, but he got away w a few this year. As a captain I'd put him at 9 or 10) Toby - 9 Bertrand - 8 Gardos - 6 Yoshida - 7 Targett - 6 Davis - 7 Wanyama - 10 (my player of the season. utterly dominant) Reed - 7 JWP - 7 Morgan - 9 (hoping the big boys underbid) Tadic - 7 (10 on a good day, but not enough of those) Djuricic - 7 (better than most people seem to think) Pelle - 8 (can be frustrating, but incredible combination of physique and skill) Mane - 9 (and 10 based on his second half of season. incredible player.) Long - 8 (improving all season)
St Marco Posted 2 June, 2015 Share Posted 2 June, 2015 These are the ratings based on performances http://www.whoscored.com/Teams/18/ They are pretty interesting. Would be great to see Reed get some starts next season as he has a bright future. JWP is rated our worst outfield regular and hard to disagree really. Surprised at Forsters numbers but I guess it is hard for a keeper to get 8-9's based on performances. In the whole league Morgan was the 9th best player. Shows why he is in such demand.
