Cork leaves Saints for Watford

Bailey

Recommended Posts

It's intresting how many people post on a rumour that a player is leaving, which is just that, a rumour. There is nothing confirmed but so many people are taking it as fact.

Get a ****ing grip, he might well stay and if he goes to Watford then don't blame anybody, it's out of our hands.

Seeing as the lad was quoted only a couple of weeks ago saying that he desperately wanted to stay at Saints, three possibilities exist :

1. Chelsea think we suck, are not good enough and are shambolic, and think he will learn more at Watford. A damning endictment

2. We have completely ballsed-up the discussions about extending the loan. Would not surprise me with Lowe and JP at the helm. Also a damning endictment

3. The article about Cork wanting to stay was pure PR spin, a complete fabrication. This would also not surprise me. Yet another damning endictment.

The club comes out of this looking like a second- (or third-) rate outfit whichever way you look at it. And we go into the New Year fixtures with no defence.....

.............all of which is the fault of Lowe. Run the place as a joke operation and you get what you deserve. We are ****ed. Lowe is the ****er and we just have to take it.

How about Watford offered Chelsea and Cork considerably more money than saints have.

Oh I forgot that doesn't fit in with your agenda, so let gloss over any other options.

The Titanic crashed in New York, get ya facts rights.

Nonsense, the Titanic was a Southampton disaster( large proportion of the crew were Sotonians), the only connection with New York was the ship was headed there, and maybe a few of the passengers came from there, like hundreds of other places in the world.

Or Chelsea want to send him to one of their ex employees, or Jack Cork fancies working with someone he knows from his time at Chelsea....

I expect it is down to money as much as anything.Watford are paying more and at the same time helping weaken us.Cork would be settled here now and so I dont expect it is anything to do with knowing the Chelsea man ,as he has been away from Chelsea for a season and a half.

It will be a real shame if he does go as he's played well most of the time. But there is no evidence YET that this has happened. Lets all wring our hands & wail when it does Eh!

Having said that if he goes it will leave us very short at the back.

oh just seen this .

"Head coach Jan Poortvliet is pleased with the level of competition for places in his squad ahead of the expiry date of a number of loan players at the club.

"We will see on the 1st January what the situation is with the loan deals," he said.

Reading defender Alex Pearce has already extended his stay at St. Mary's by a further month, but there may be further movement in and out with Chelsea player Jack Cork's future high on the Dutchman's list of priorities.

"As far as I know, we want to keep Jack and Jack wants to stay here," he stated. "He feels comfortable and likes it here and we hope that he stays".

Dear Jan,

Probably best to keep shtum the next time the OS come knocking for an interview.

Will be a big miss but does it really matter?

The clueless direction the club are following with a egotistic board, clueless coach

and massive lack of what it takes to compete in this league means

we will be relegated whether he stayed or not.

The "As far as I know" comment says it all really.

To be honest Nick, it has now got to the stage where we should offload ANYONE we can get a good fee for and ensure that administration does not happen even though that will inevitably mean relegation. At least then finances might get back to an even keel and the club might be able to rebuild over a couple of seasons. If we are losing out based on money when competing for the signing of a premier league reserve team player (albeit a pretty good one) then what hope do we have of keeping or attracting players that might keep us up?

Well, the only loanees that were any cop, were Cork and Pearce. The fans wanted to keep them and tbf Jan wanted to keep them. We have spectacularly managed to keep neither. All those advocating selling Surman and Lallana had better think again, because if they go we have no chance of surviving (not that I think we have much chance anyway!).

I agree that avoiding administratioj is number in priority. Cork played well but was not on our radar 6months ago. There must be other young players out there who will do well if we select well.Pekhart and Robertson were 1 goal wonders (I am saddened for Jordan and the poor person wh was killed in the accident) Robertson looked great against Norwich and then just looked lost after that.

The margin between a average CCC player and top non league is not much and with the right coaching the difference can easily be made up.If you get a few PL reserve players then the margins are not there, but just experience is key.

I have lost count of my favourite player over the years.I have learnt though 1 goes and soon another pops up.

the Pearce thing is not our clubs fault to be fair. Both clubs announced that he was staying here until the 30th of jan and then Reading had a change of heart.

Of course you could read that there has been a political falling out between the parties, or that we would not be able to pay up the loan fees as we were going into....
