Saint-Armstrong Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 José wants Nathaniel and Morgan to sign new contracts, and is trying to help talk them into it - and has also warned that the grass isn't always greener elsewhere. http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/12964777.Fonte__I_m_trying_to_persuade_Clyne_and_Schneiderlin_to_stay/
Lighthouse Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 Perhaps watching Lolvren and Lollana sitting on the bench and only playing Europa and Cup games next season will put them off jumping ship for short term glory. Will Liverpool even be able to offer big wages any more? They've already got some meaty earners their an no CL money this time.
Verbal Kint Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 And that is exactly how a captain should behave. Not like some rat plotting his own escape and planning how best to go on strike. Well done Jose

S-Clarke Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 Absolutely fantastic leadership being shown. He's a born captain.
Saint_clark Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 Wow, he's catapulted himself into legend status. Comment above about how this is how a captain should be acting is spot on. I hope he keeps his quality for a good few years yet, i'd love for him to be captain for a long time.
Golden Balls Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 Let's hope it works. He doesn't seem too hopeful and sounds like he's resigned to losing them. He should also be trying to convince Wanyama too imo.
SarniaSaint Posted 21 May, 2015 Posted 21 May, 2015 And that is exactly how a captain should behave. Not like some rat plotting his own escape and planning how best to go on strike. Well done Jose Rat is the only word to describe that piece of sh*t. Fonte
Bobbyboy Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 Is he going to put stripes on their cars? That should help
andoru Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 And that is exactly how a captain should behave. Not like some rat plotting his own escape and planning how best to go on strike. Well done Jose This. Although when Rodgers comes in with the alleged bid he wants to make for Fonte, we'll see ...
alpine_saint Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 Fonté for the banner?? Will soon be time for that, I think.
JackanorySFC Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 And that is exactly how a captain should behave. Not like some rat plotting his own escape and planning how best to go on strike. Well done Jose 100% agree with this. La Rat acted the absolute opposite of a leader.

SW5 SAINT Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 Definitely Fonte on the banner. I think I would rather see Fonte on the banner than Lambert. Both joined the club around about the same time, with Fonte just as instrumental at the back, as Lambert was at the front, in our transformation of fortunes. Hopefully Fonte will not jump ship the moment Brenda starts making eyes at him, like Lambert did.

I didn't rate Lambert for the last 18 months with us, but I don't begrudge him wanting that transfer. If anything we've come out of it looking very shrewd, he even missed the first penalty he took for them last pre-season.

Brave Sir Robin Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 Fonté for the banner?? Think we should wait until after the transfer window closes before adding anyone to the banner. After last summer, I don't trust any of them!
The9 Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 You have to look at the longevity of all of those up the top - the criteria aren't obvious but most (Lambert and Shilton aside) are very long term. Arguably Lundekvam and Svensson could be up there on similar measuring stick to Fonte. Though the same goes for strikers and Lambert - I guess it's reasonable that the more recent player is a shorter term thing.
melmacian_saint Posted 22 May, 2015 Posted 22 May, 2015 The acid test would come I suppose if Benfica ever came calling for Fonte. Benfica can't afford him. And he came from the Sporting academy anyway...
