This line up could be a crap shoot. Defend and counter or play straight up?

Gazza, Yoshida, Gardos, Targett, Morgan, Reed, JRod

Starting 11 is fine. The bench needs work.

Add Djuricic and Elia.

Lose Gardos and either Reed/Morgan depending on Morgan's true fitness.

Unlikely we'll go there with only one holding midfielder. I'm pretty sure we'll see Vic and a partner in the middle, ideally Morgan but if not Reed or Toby, then Davis or JWP ahead of them. Back 5 and front 3 pick themselves after Saturday (Yoshida in for Toby of he is moved forward to holding mid and we know that Kelvin is getting a game).

We'll be unchanged apart from Kelvin in for Gazza.

We played with Vic + Davis sitting in midfield with JWP ahead of them at City, imagine we'll see the same again but maybe with JWP a little less advanced to stop their play going through the middle.

It is important that we keep it tight though. As it stands, we have the joint best premier league defence. It would be fantastic to have the best defence over the whole season.

Something else to aim for at the weekend. Keep a clean sheet and you never know.

Be interesting to see what we do if the game is petering out towards a draw (which would obviously do for Citeh, whilst also giving us the chance to leapfrog Spurs) if the scores in the other games were Stoke 3-0 Liverpool and Everton 1-0 Spurs.

Do we gamble catching one (and the guarantee of 6th + Europa) to catch the other?

I'd say sitting back and playing for a draw could be more likely to result in a loss than going for it.

LBH we are going to end up in 7th

Who knows, I think a point will get us 6th and we've got a chance of getting 5th if we win, what with Sterlings actions...

Not sure why people are being defeatist, we went to that stadium with Jos, Fox, Guly and co - and got so close. I see no reason why this lot, with it's outstanding defensive organisation, cannot do better.

I just hope that the person in the crowd with the transistor radio gets the right info out to the players, we don't want another Bally.

I'm not sure we would be able to go for it with the same intensity as if we were, say, fighting relegation.

I expect the game will be either a 3-3 free for all, or a knock it about bore draw. Testimonial time, basically.

lets just hope we give it our all and get at least a point. Hopefully with that point we can snatch 6th.

And what huge satisfaction it would bring to end this season above spurs. Above Pool as well would just be too good but probably unlikely.

So come on Ronald, get them psyched up for this one last game of an amazing season.

Unless we are fluking a 1-0 and are desperate to park the bus, can't see why other suggested benches have 2xCBs and 2xMF.

Doesn't matter if we are drawing or losing, we will finish 7th anyway. So let's go gung ho for the last 10 minutes at least, and bring on Elia, Djuricic and J-Rod to attack, attack, attack. Doesn't matter if we lose 3-0 in the end, if we were already losing 1-0.

The only reason I put 3 defenders on the bench is because RK has proven that he likes to have a ton of defenders on the bench. tsiw, I agree. Load up and try to score as much as possible. We can't fall any further than the place the we currently reside.

If we are drawing and Everton are winning we will finish 6th not 7th. Naive if you think Ron will leave Steve Davis out of the match day squad. More likely that he would start ahead of Prowsey.

Interestingly that's exactly what happened at St Mary's.

Hmmm, maybe, but Chelsea had nothing to play for. I can't see Arsenal losing to guarentee City 2nd place on Wed, so it's going to be a live game.

But with City only needing a point, unless Arsenal stick about 10 on Sunderland (which admittedly isn't impossible).

Isn't the reason that he does that because we don't have many attacking options outside the U21s?

Speaking of which, have the club announced tonight's team yet? Just noticed there's a live stream on YouTube (though I'm going unless it chucks it down).

ah. have they been playing demichelis instead for the last few games then?

Kompany hasn't played in any of the 5 wins in a row they've just had, his last 2 appearances were the defeats to Palace and Man U. Demichelis played in all 7 of those matches.

The really wacky thing is that Mangala has looked terrible in a few matches recently, but his record in the past 10 matches is 9 wins and 1 defeat (to Liverpool). In that time, City have also lost the 5 matches he DIDN'T play in.

Going back a little further, City also lost 2 and drew 2 without him prior to that, and they won 8 and drew 2 of the 10 matches he played in prior to that.

In fact Mangala has only played in one City defeat in 21 since the end of October.

I am ruddy up for this game. just hope the players are too.

also very much hoping for mangala to be playing and kompany to have a stinker

Mangala cannot seem to deal with pace or direct forwards, so Mane and Long should have fun up against him. I think he'll play as City probably want to run the rule over him to work out if he is good enough for next year. Depending on what happens tomorrow, it could be a nothing game. Even though Chelsea played a strong team last night, with the pressure off and nothing to play for it lowers your game - so hopefully we can have that scenario.

I know it would be Davis' 300th appearance but after Gazza put in a decent performance and kept a clean sheet might it be an idea to keep him in?

Does Benteke's goal not count? ;)

Still don't think Gazza is up to it, Saturdays game didn't really provide him with much of a test. We'll go with Davis without question.

He claimed two long balls on the edge of the box, punched safely under loads of pressure, made two very good stops (leg block from shot inside box and full stretch to his right, both at Northam end) and had no chance with the goal which wasn't one he could have got to, neither the cross nor the header itself.

Only time will tell whether he's up to it, but that was the first time I've ever thought he might be.

He did look distinctly better than I'd seen before, perhaps being a few goals to the good helped his confidence to try things that he might not at 0-0.

He looked that decent in the U21 League Cup Final too.

Wow. nice info thanks.

I find it bizzare....maybe I just haven't actually sat down and looked at the stats for a while but my impression was that mangala was a liability and made some fairly awful mistakes, and that kompany was off his game and slowing down a lot. And demichelis....never been that convinced.

Surprising though to see the stats, very very different story. now I don't even know what city team I'd rather see..

We have to have Morgan availalabe. Not only does he make the midfield tick, its stops Ronald from moving Toby up from CB. And that would leave us with Yoshida trying to keep up with the City attackers :(

If Morgan cant play , then go with Reed.

I watched Swansea v City on Sunday, and Mangala was indeed a liability, they still won 4-2 though.
