Best/Worst performances from opposition players at St Mary's this season

We've won every league game I've been to this season, 7 I think so not too many good performances against us. However I did go to the Palace Cup game and Chamakh put in the performance of his life. The kind of once a season blinder Adebayor usually plays against us.

Worst...

Mannone stands out for me. The week after the 8-0 he had another nightmare at home to Arsenal, adding to his list of personal howlers. Hasn't been seen in the League since. The goals conceded against Cork and Tadic were highlights.

Mike Williamson was utter garbage when Newcastle came to town.

Woiczek.... Woych.... Chesney? Szczec.... The Arsenal 'keeper was at fault for both their goals at St Mary's

Paddy McNair got dragged off after about half an hour when Man Utd came to SMS.

That Villa defence has to be even worse than Blunderlands, and Tim The Tactician really screwed up big time and did eff all to change what was happening in front of him.

Loved the smug smile being wiped off his face.

Disagree.

Sunderland back 4 had no idea what they were doing, nor for that matter did Newcastle. Villa did and were following a truly bizarre tactic of playing a very high line. It's not exactly a secret that Mané and Long are quick, so Sherwood gets the worst manager award. It was compounded by a dodgy back pass and a missed tackle by Vlaar (just wonder whether on that showing anyone is really going to come in and try and sign him).

In slight defence of Vlaar, and in praise of Long, Long was a fair distance from where he ended up tackling Given when Vlaar made the pass. Long ran past a couple of defenders, it was great anticipation by Long, most times the defender would have got away with that. It was not as bad as Toby's effort straight after kick-off which we got away with.

Falls into Best and Worst ..... Referee (sic) Kevin (no effing) Friend (of ours)

Worst performance by an official in denying what was it, 3 or 4 pens for us? And awarding namby pamby free kicks to them every time Pelle even so much as looked an a Liverpool player.

Probably the most Best and most efficient performance by anybody to ensure we didn't get anything from the match :x

Agree with the best and worst already mentioned..

However I would also give a shout as one of the most impressive to Trippier of Burnley... Thought his all round play, overlaps and crosses caused as problems all afternoon..

Vergini is a truly horrendous football player, I have no idea how he's lasted at this level so long. He was one of the worst players I saw last season, and he is again this season. He's like Bambi without any grace. Shocking player. Williamson was also turd, just as he was last season. Shocking player.

Best player this year was probably Aguero, we've been quite fortunate in that fact that most teams we've played at home have been on the back foot for most of it - and we've kept them quiet. But the City home game was the only one we've been well and truly beaten in, and Aguero was key to that, even though he didn't score. If I remember right, most of the goals came late on - but fully deserved. Hazard was very good as well, very hard to contain him and we did incredibly well to get a 1-1.

I thought Hutton was by far Villa's worst defender on the weekend, he lost a shoulder to shoulder with a bloke half his size for Mane's first goal and never once looked like he knew what he was meant to be doing at left back. Vlaar made one bad backpass and got screwed over by a high line they should never have been playing.

How does Sherwood even look at our endless string of failures to break down a parked back nine and think trying to squeeze play is going to work? Even if they'd been closing down our midfield quickly (which they weren't) there was still half a pitch to hoof a killer throughball into.

Sissoko put in a really good performance in the four nil defeat of Newcastle. Be happy to sign him if we lose Morgan.

He might take a while to revert from how Newcastle have been using him and go back to being more defensive.
