not impressed, its nothing special but i don,t buy the overpriced shirts anyway.not worth £50 anyway.. £24.99 for adults would be a realistic price but its a good earner for the football clubs.

Judging by the video, the unveiled shirt doesn't have any adidas size printing inside it or a label (not that they have labels usually now) so I'm guessing there are very few of the actual shirts made at the moment and there could just be one doing the rounds for all the media.

I haven't seen the back of it yet, and though the leak shows it's striped on the back too, the spectre of the Europa League might have led the club to rethink that.

Jim Lucas did a video through the clubs Periscope account looking in Barry Gale's office and said only one copy of the shirt currently exists. He also showed the back of the shirt and it's definitely striped (at the moment at least).

Cheers, apparently the same video is on Snapchat, I just haven't watched it yet.

Don't have a problem with it but it needs a red collar!

It needs a black collar. Or preferably a half-black half red/white mesh collar. But they don't like to mix their templates...

Posted
We have had white collars a few times down the years in the history of the club, although not for a while. Harks back to the 59-62 kit.

Black collars relatively new - started in the 80's and used alot in the 90's more my era. I actually prefer less black but I associate it with that era.

Needs more black because otherwise there's only the sponsor and the shirt number pulling the shirt together with the shorts and that's crappy design.

meh

would a mass written protest convince Adidas to move their little badge a tad to the side? Who knows...People power!

No, no it wouldn't. I'd prefer they dragged the Saints badge higher up the shirt to be honest.

Pretty standard, but after the all-red shirts I'm not going to be too down on this.

I think the look of the veho sponsor really enhances the shirt though - as it has for this year's.

Work for 'em?

Ha! No, might seem an odd comment I guess, but some sponsors just look a bit naff due to the company name/logo. Look at the bet365 on Stoke's shirt, makes the kit look so... Stoke! Fortunately the veho logo improves rather than worsens the shirt in my opinion.

Don't like it much, but as always I'll get used to it and probably say the same next time. I never waste my money on them anyway so it doesn't affect me.

So much angst! All that matters is the little logo with the halo, the scarf, the ball, the tree, the river, and the rose. Everything else is just the background.

 but I suspect that some will find fault even with that!!!!

Just a bog standard Adidas shirt. Looks even more like Stoke of that is possible

Not as good as this seasons effort IMO

But is is traditional stripes, which is important I guess

Drove past the ground last night. 2 huge pictures of Ward Prowse wearing the new shirt were being put up either side of the entrance.

Is it slightly odd to have JWP as the main model of the new shirt considering he wouldnt get in most fans first XI?

I'm sure Man Utd won't use Paddy McNair for their launch, or Everton Luke Garbutt.

Also why not show the whole kit rather than just the shirt?

I would imagine its because JWP is, currently, the most successful product of our academy that's still with the club (and most likely to still be here next season), and that's the image the club wants to portray - goes hand in hand with the "we breed players...." philosophy.

Yeah, it's not difficult to understand. It's not about being our best player, it's about the philosophy of the club.

Our squad is so buff we should have just not bothered with shirts and played in skins.

I, for one, would have found it slightly arousing.

And he's from Pompey, which will wind them up.

£50 as usual for adult. £40 for child I believe.

Taken from Official Site:

The rounded ribbed collar creates a halo effect, inspired by the club’s nickname, and white inserts at the bottom of the shirt offer a strong feature to balance the design.

That must have been one hell of Marketing Meeting to come up with that little gem, and probably resulted in back slapping and high fives all-round....................... At least they have a sense of humour.

I was thinking the same thing, just didn't want to say it ;)

A straightforward Adidas striped shirt. How it should have been two years ago.

That's absolutely fine by me!

Totally agree.

Fine with me, traditional and non fussy. Thank goodness we now have a board focussed on our own culture and tradition rather someone elses. COYS.

Again totally agree.

Are you going to demonstrate your approval by not buying it?

I'm glad some of you have pointed out its JWP modelling the shirt, on seeing the hairstyle I thought it was the missing third Jedward twin.

On the subject of the shirt, it looks a pretty bland uninspiring effort at first, and probably does look too much of a Adidas hybrid Stoke job.

I'm sure I won't be able to see the white collar from the seats we usually sit in so no point moaning about that, and it is red and white stripes, which we wanted two years ago when Mr C*ntese wanted to take us off on a tangent, so can't complain too much.

That said, I hope for a Keeganesque return next year...or something distinctive.

I like it. There are only so many variations on red and white stripes, so saying it looks like Stoke, Sunderland, Exeter, Bilbao, Red Star Belgrade, Athletico is a bit daft.

I'm just glad we've avoided some of the weird monstrosities of the past

There was the two kits badly sown together at the shoulders. Complete with awful, tacky, plastic flybe logo which doesn't line up with the stripes and just generally looks like it was glued on over the top of another sponsor as a last minute after thought.

Then there was the gold lettering because we're being sponsored by Lotus, except we aren't, which is good because you can barely see it anyway.

I've not bought a Saints kit for 3 years since our pinstripe effort in the first season back up. I may buy this one as it looks decent.

Posted

I'm also glad we've avoided any of these stupid button up polo style shirts with a collar. What is the point in a collar on a football shirt? We're playing sport, not going for a 'cheeky Nandos'.

It's like looking forward to opening a Christmas present, and being hugely deflated once you finally unwrap it.

Totally agree. The new shirt's awful! I hope it doesn't reflect in our play next season.

Most premier league players are 'buff' to be fair! They cannot all be skins!

Next shirt should be white with red stripes just to make it different .............. :mcinnes:

Then people would complain it looked like Stoke... Oh wait.

How is it awful, it's just stripes with Adidas stripes. Uninspiring maybe, but there's nothing actually bad about it.
