Bad Wolf Posted 8 May, 2015 Share Posted 8 May, 2015 Not strictly Saints related I know but Millwall have released 18 players including Chappers! It's weird that just two years ago he was a squad player for us in the Premier League and now he's deemed not good enough to play in League One. I would have thought he'd be a decent player for them at that level. Is Jos still there on loan? I wonder if they'll want him permanently.
Badger Posted 8 May, 2015 Share Posted 8 May, 2015 Releasing a playeer after relegation is not just a sign that he's not deemed good enough at that level. Often the main factor is £££, and whether its affordable to keep them on the books. I thought Chaplow was on loan at Ipswich anyway.

lickierambert Posted 8 May, 2015 Share Posted 8 May, 2015 My favourite moment of his was that goal he scored when we beat Peterborough 4-1(?) in League 1. Brilliant end-to-end stuff

Bad Wolf Posted 8 May, 2015 Author Share Posted 8 May, 2015 Ah, hadn't realised he was on loan somewhere else. Must be a money thing then I guess. I'm also guessing that it was a recentish loan since I can't remember him being in the squad when we played Ipswich a few months back in the FA Cup. I'm also guessing this means they won't sign Jos if it's a money problem. Though tbh, I think he's better than League One anyway.
Saint Charlie Posted 8 May, 2015 Share Posted 8 May, 2015 Decent player made to look good by some excellent players he was playing with at Saints. Should find another good club on past rep though.
CWD Posted 8 May, 2015 Share Posted 8 May, 2015 Hopefully Ipswich will sign him permanently. Good Championship player and a top bloke
scotty Posted 8 May, 2015 Share Posted 8 May, 2015 Did a great job for us, and that goal against the mancs cements him as a Saints legend. I can still hear the roar around the kingsland when that went in.

davefizzy14 Posted 9 May, 2015 Share Posted 9 May, 2015 Very good player for us Chaplow. Scored some important goals. Always liked watching him play. I'm sure there will be plenty of suitors for him. Wish him all the best with Ipswich for the play offs.
Badger Posted 9 May, 2015 Share Posted 9 May, 2015 4-4 No, lickierambert is correct, it was a 4-1 win at home that season. it was our third goal, a good team goal involving some neat passing - from memory - and a cross from Hammond.
VectisSaint Posted 9 May, 2015 Share Posted 9 May, 2015 He is. Was on the bench last week, play-off semi-final tomorrow. Turns out he is not even on the bench today. Don't know if that is related to his release by Millwall or just that he didn't get picked for the match-day squad.

Yeah was a great goal. Hammond cross and Chaplow half volley. I miss his bite.
