Morgan out until the end of the season

He hasn't, really. He's basically said there's no intention to sell, but he said the same last year re: lovren/lallana/shaw etc

Yeah, there's no mention of what happens when they go in and ask to leave after the last game like Shaw was rumoured to have done.

I am absolutely gutted, Morgan has been my joint all time favourite player. I cant believe that I will most probably never see him again in the red and white stripes. Thanks Morgan it has been a delight and pleasure to watch you over the past 7 years. Remember when I first saw you play I said you would go a long way and one day captain France. First bit has come to reality. Bon Chance.

That's two players inc Davies of Spurs who slipped on Saturday on the over-watered pitch to suffer season ending injuries

Yes. You beat me to the comment. Now can we stop watering the pitch at half time?! If its a choice between (A) seeing the ball moving quickly across the well watered turf but maybe losing a player to injury vs (B) seeing the ball move at average rate but keeping all players on the pitch ...... I know which i would choose. :mcinnes:

No way, he was speaking to the fans as far as I'm concerned. He's not a politician trying to con the electorate, he's talking to the supporters of the football club. To me, it was clear what he was saying.

He did not say "we will not sell" (which if I recall is what he said last summer which turned out great anyway), he said we have no intention of selling. That is the most politician like answer ever leaving loads of wiggle room.

I expect us to lose at LEAST three first team players over the summer.

Let's look on the bright side. It's not serious ligament damage and if it's only 4 or 5 weeks then he should be fit for pre-season or a European tour. Whether that's with us or somebody elase remains to be seen. :)

I'd think he'd hope to be fit for the 2 French friendlies in June.

Pretty gutted really. Along with Rickie has been my favourite Saints player these last few years. Have always maintained he is our best player. Whoever gets him will be better for his presence, I really don't think he'd be out of place in any squad.

Seriously talented player, will leave an absolutely massive hole to fill. As said above though, he has been great for us and barring one little wobble (which in fairness to him he responded to fantastically) a real pro. He deserves to play at the top level and win things.

Bloody obvious his injury was ligament-related and at least serious enough to miss the last 4 matches so I'm not remotely surprised.

Only blind faith would make me think he's going to play for Saints again - and if he was wavering at all, an injury is precisely the sort of thing that will focus the mind on maximising income while he can.

awful news.

the only positive as far as I can see is that harry reed might get a game or maybe two. Really really hoping Ron doesn't stick Davis / JWP back there.

Thought reed was lively and always wanted the ball against spurs

What we need is Guan 2.0 to return from his forum exile during the summer to keep us informed.

If you type "Saintsweb" into google the 4th predictive search that pops up is "saintsweb guan". He's 2 places ahead of the Pompey Takeover Saga thread. If he never returns that's a fairly decent legacy to leave behind.

I fully expect Toby and Victor to be in midfield on Saturday, Reed on the bench as per usual. This is what Koeman does every time one of our 2 CMs s out.

Reed's nowhere near ready to play regularly in that position yet, as he showed by getting himself sent off in the U21 Cup Final. He's got a lot of energy and closes down well, but as well as some other similarities, his tackling is also Scholes-like, and he's got to learn when NOT to dive in.

It seemed to work ok with Ward-Prowse and Davis slightly advanced of Wanyama second half when we played Burnley, I'd think that will be what we go with, the Yoshida/Alderweireld Experiment having not really worked.

For a team that's got a strong first XI, we're not half having to play a lot of matches without our first team.

It basically hasn't happened since Man U away, thanks to the various Wanyama/Schnederlin/Alderweireld injuries and suspensions. I think the closest is Chelsea away, when Pelle was dropped.

Best way to learn and improve would be by playing in the 1st team.

So Toby in midfield again.......he's wasted in that position.....has he played their as much as centre half?

Outstanding centre half, mediocre pushed forward....and constantly gets injured whilst in that position.

Good luck Morgan......you've been a bloody revelation.

I disagree about Reed not being ready yet , He was excellent against Everton! Yeh he got the red for the u21s but that was because he was trying to do too much he had a good game otherwise imo ! Saying that I still think Ron will stick with where Maya and Toby played Saturday for as long as we have something to play for

Les has been watching too much election build-up with his not-so-clever use of wording.

Look, if Les has said they're not going to be sold, which he has, then he is going to look a c*nt if they do go.

Last season we were told that Morgan wouldn't be sold and he wasn't. As far as I'm concerned, he's said it again, so the club should be as good as their word.

You don't quite get it do you , he can't come out and say Yeh we're selling them both ! The price is always higher if the selling party doesn't want to sell

No he hasn't, he has said he has no intention of doing it. That's not to say he wont be forced to do so against his will if Morgan hands in a transfer request.
