She made her money with the nations support and then move off to tax exile To put it into context, she’s the current world record holder and although retired, she wanted to run the London marathon one last time. Her finish time was around the same of the best official British (female) runners, despite not training. She’s incredible!

To be fair, how can anyone get excited about 22 blokes kicking a ball around? And getting paid forty grand a week for it, funded by the spectators? scotty Posted 27 April, 2015 Share Posted 27 April, 2015 Or driving a car round the block multiple times. I remember a story about some poor old bloke who got stopped by the police on the M25 because he was veering all over the road. Turned out he'd been driving for 12 hours straight, and was completely disorientated. His first question was "am I anywhere near scotland yet?" He was trying to visit his son in Aberdeen, but hadn't realised the M25 was circular. I think the coppers drove him home iirc...

Bucks Saint Posted 27 April, 2015 Share Posted 27 April, 2015 Dont get me started on hitting a ball over a net so that another person can hit it back again. If the OP really needs a target for his ire, then try that Ball hitter who is a miserable git and slags off some of his supporters. Upwind Posted 27 April, 2015 Share Posted 27 April, 2015 However, Paula will always be remembered for taking a dump on route around the London Marathon and for failing to win an Olympic medal in four attempts...... That was impressive and she was in amongst the masses not aided by the rarefied atmosphere of the elite runners and their head start. Couldn't give a monkeys about her tax exile status really, seems to have the demons not far away between her ears, so the public life reason hold more water that bunking tax. Many people assumed it was that because it was "splashy". She later apologised and put it down to stomach problems. Pooing on live TV will always be her greatest legacy. To support the pain she inflicts on herself in marathons I'd think she must have really high dopamine levels, that sometimes leads to being a bit quirky at best. Still Paula is a lovely girl, trotted with her for a while on the track at Font Romeu once or twice and you couldn't want to meet a nicer person. Anyway given the choice between Monaco and Bedford there's not much of a contest really.

Sometimes I do wonder how much talent you need to be a top tennis player, I mean if fatso Bartoli can win Wimbledon it really can't be that difficult. Tennis is a game where opportunity exceeds talent I think, must be like playing the piano, if you haven't got a piano by the time you're 3 or 4 you ain't going to be very good at it. Paula Radcliffe however is the current Women's world record marathon holder and one of Britains greatest ever athletes. If you think that's easy and not worthy of praise then why not give it a go? Ahem - she started in the celebs green start and ran with male runners pretty much all of the way. The women's elite race starts earlier than the men's so they don't get any advantage during the race and the World's best time, pbs, etc are protected as women only performances. All of which means that running with men will have likely improved her time significantly but that's not to denigrate the performance - she's a National Treasure surely?
