Big_Bald_Si Posted 31 December, 2008 Author Posted 31 December, 2008 Bloody Reading. Bitter about picking up just the one point off of us this season
the.saint.1885 Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 They have recalled Bennett from Brentford as well. All hands to the pump and they are 2nd in the league.
trousers Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Wonder how long it will be before someone has a pop at Lowe for not securing a better loan agreement.....tick, tick, tick.....
Badger Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Bitter about picking up just the one point off of us this season Or perhaps Rupert is "playing hardball" ,whatever that might be,in negotiations over Surman.
Hatch Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 He'll be loaned out to Forest this time next week.
SaintDonkey Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 (edited) Bugger. If we don't hang on to Cork we're totally screwed. Anyone got an inside line on whether Killer will ever play again? Edited 31 December, 2008 by SaintDonkey
trousers Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Sounds a bit fishy to me....surely Reading would have known whether Pearce was in their New Year plans a few days ago when the loan extension was agreed and announced.....unless this is another Lowe 'jumping the gun' on the contract front.....a la Poortvliet in the summer....? There you go....someone's started to blame Lowe already.....
trousers Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Time for a Lallana or Surman deal with Fulham with Baird coming the other way....

There you go....someone's started to blame Lowe already..... It does seem pretty odd. As far as I know, no Reading defender's have suddenly become injured, and as you say, they'd not have agreed the extension if he was "in their plans" a few days ago.
West End Saint Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 What a shame I think Pearce has been a great player for us and given us a bit of hieght that we lack and a goal threat at corners if we have lost cork as well we are going to be in trouble I cant see Killer coming in for a run of games Ollie is a good prospect but he will make mistakes Perry has been good lately but we are very light at centre back I hope we can get soeone else in on loan or we are fecked
PokingFun Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 I am very worried that it will be an Alpine Saint we need a centre back fest soon!! ;-)
Window Cleaner Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 It's not all Reading have had an about turn on either. Their site said Lita was coming back and Pearce was staying on with us for a month. Now Pearce is going back and Lita stays on at Norwich for another month.Perhaps they're being prudent with the old swans as well.
Window Cleaner Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 I am very worried that it will be an Alpine Saint we need a centre back fest soon!! ;-) Don't think the last one has ended yet, being going on since 1954
Andy_Porter Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Maybe we are after that Gerrard lad we where linked with in the summer. I think he was a centre back. If we dont get another centre back in soon then we will be in trouble. Perry can't play every game and Lancashire is too inexperienced and may not be good enough. Wotton is going out on loan and we can't rely on Svensson.
H Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 I am very worried that it will be an Alpine Saint we need a centre back fest soon!! ;-) Christ ... let's hope he doesn't start harping on about Tamas Vasko again!
alpine_saint Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 on the OS: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=11158 And the house of cards comes tumbling down.............
St_Tel49 Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 He'll be loaned out to Forest this time next week. They don't need him. They already have two big pretty useful centre backs
Colinjb Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Time for a Lallana or Surman deal with Fulham with Baird coming the other way.... Yeah, because he'll take the pay cut.....
Kaiser Soze Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Never rated him, good attacking set peices but very questionable defensively.
Window Cleaner Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Yeah, because he'll take the pay cut..... Fulham will subsidise him out of the saving they'll make on only paying Lallana 1300 quid a week. Fulham need goalscorers desperately so they might be willing to lend out surplus defenders on a partial pay basis.
saint.tom.clancy Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 They don't need him. They already have two big pretty useful centre backs After watching Forest play the other week, i can confirm that 1 of their centre backs, number 5 (whoever it is) is SH*T, and the other one was ok. So they could DEFINATLY do with the likes of Pearce.
Bailey Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Oh ****. Surely Rupes will back Poortvliet by allowing him to bring in another defender on loan? Without Pearce our options at the back are very limited.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 After watching Forest play the other week, i can confirm that 1 of their centre backs, number 5 (whoever it is) is SH*T, and the other one was ok. So they could DEFINATLY do with the likes of Pearce. So **** that we could not score eh?
AndyNorthernSaints Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 And the house of cards comes tumbling down............. Cheer up. Nobody has died. Happy new year.
sadoldgit Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 And the house of cards comes tumbling down............. Players come and go all the time nowdays with the prevelance of loan deals. Why should SFC suddenly crumble? If we lose one or two players then it is down to the club to replace them, as it has done time and timer and time again without the world ending.
saintwarwick Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 The way I read the link Coppell has said realistically Reading are not going to win the cup so he is looking at making wholesale changes. Looks like he is resting a lot of his potential promotion side and treating the cup as a hinderence for that promotion push which is worth more than advancing in the cup. We may even get him back if Reading lose against Cardiff.
St Landrew Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Tbh, it's our own fault for not having enough quality at SFC. To be depending on other clubs players being allowed to stay on loan to you is a sign of real desperation. Where's the next lowest point we're going to sink to..?

TopGun Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Never rated him, good attacking set peices but very questionable defensively. Agreed but that's more age than anything. Like the Palace goal he got caught out on though he was possibly pushed also.
St Landrew Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 League one?? No, that's for next season. I mean before that.
ART Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 What's to say Saints have decided to take Bennett instead of Pearce. For sure Coppell will want a strong squad to push for promotion but he hasn't shown much affection for Bennett in the past. And who knows we might have offered Bennett a better deal than Brentford.
eelpie Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 We will not be stronger at the back without him. Let's hope we can retain Cork at least. What mostly interested me in the OS (since it diid not look like we would be able to keep Pearce after January) was Steve Coppell's statement: '" I have a squad of about 20 players and the core of that squad have played a lot of games." Wow! he has financed a quality well knit squad by not having too many not playing! Burley had too many and didn't know what to do with them. Poortvliet has the same problem. LEANER, MORE VERSATILE, QUALITY SQUAD RUPERT! Then we might get somewhere.
belgrave Posted 31 December, 2008 Posted 31 December, 2008 Exactly why we are bottom(ish) -> the spine of our team is: Davis erm erm erm Mc erm A competent manager would have addressed at least one of the "erm"s by now A competent chairman might have asked a manager to do the same...

It's bad news for us that Lita stays with Norwich. He is a player that we should have signed imo.

Burley had Davis and a couple of erms. Then when they proved themselves he let them go.
alpine_saint Posted 1 January, 2009 Posted 1 January, 2009 We will not be stronger at the back without him. Let's hope we can retain Cork at least. Wow, guess what ???
