Ronald Koeman insists even Barcelona could not lure him from Southampton

Awesome to hear, I wonder how long he sticks around. It would be great to spend another few seasons with the bloke at the helm.

he will be here for at least the next two seasons seeing he has talked so much about honouring his contract. Beyond that will probably depend on where we are at the end of the 2016/17 season and what other jobs, Barcelona especially, are about!

I didn't realise he'd turned down Barca when he was at Ajax, blimey. As I thought, a very genuine and honorable bloke. In good hands, I felt that from the moment we got him. He's just got this aura of confidence and belief about him, which only top level world-class players have. Lucky and privileged to have such a famous name managing our club.

He'll end up at Barca in 2017, on the back of successive FA Cup triumphs* and and a runners-up place in the Europa League.

*I can dream.

Why not dream about winning the Europa League and thereby qualifying for the champions league.

I think he is just great. An absolute huge name in football and a great manager for us

I think when he does leave, his head will be held high and with one hell of a send off from the club/fans

I hope that is how it happens.

If he is into his last year let's hope people don't spend forever whining at the club for not offering him a new one etc. I don't expect him to sign any new contract with us - much like Feyenoord he'll do his bit and then go to a new challenge.

Three seasons of Koeman would be flipping epic. And then he simply hands over to his natural successor, Gerry Francis.

Just keeping the seat warm for the return of Dave Merrington. ITK.

He's got a great setup here, and if he harbours any ambition of being recognised for his achievements, then he is arguably better off doing that here. Barcelona win trophies pretty consistently, and have always been able to attract the best players in the world.

The Barcelona job is effectively yours to fk up. The expectation is that you'll win stuff, and if you don't, people wonder why.

Chucking on my rosiest tinted glasses for a bit and imagining an unstamped dream, if we wins stuff with us he'll be a legend. Back the bloke, and see how far he can take us.

A very honourable man. Some of our want away stars could learn from his example.

Whilst like many I really like and admire RK, not sure he is really demonstrating what you say - honesty and integrity, yes, but as for our "want away stars learning from him"? All RK has ever mentioned is that he will honor his contract and hence by implication not beyond that. So how is that any different than NC and JR's positions (admittedly MS is different) - we will see out our contract and then leave for nothing, and it is the club that wants to force the issue of signing a new contract or move them on for a fee (which is perfectly understandable).

In my view, if RK would come out and say he is committed beyond his current contract as he really believes in our long term plan, that would be a much better and stronger example to want away stars.

Agree - World class player in his day and in my eyes, a world class manager too! And he is ours...

As a manager I'd imagine working at SFC would be brilliant, a great structure, brilliant facilities and a production line that is the envy of every other UK club.

Add to that the opportunity to get some silverware, become a hero and get some great kudos at a club that historically has won very little and I can see why Ron might want to stick around.

He's been brilliant for us and we've been brilliant for him, long may it continue.

When you really think about the current manager we have its crazy, this guy is in the top 10 all time players and he is with us for another two years.

great times ahead and I really mean it when I say Saints can get a champions league spot next year (if we never had the Europa to think about)

I like at 1:04 in Matchday Uncovered how his gives Mane a very serious sounding welcome. None of the Pochettino matesy style...

Like the shot of bananas with audio of Pearson and then Rodgers delivering a philosophy lecture in the background.

It will be truly depressing when he goes at the end of his contract. Whether he has won stuff for us or not, I am certain that he will have done nothing sully my opinion about his honesty and integrity. Whatever he may or may not be as a football manager, he is a man of remarkable character.
