Verbal Kint Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 True, but I still hope Saturday doesn't have too much Pochettino related rubbish all game. Don't like the bloke, but the game shouldn't be about him. I don't see any point giving him stick. It won't affect him or his team in the slightest
Batman Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 I don't see any point giving him stick. It won't affect him or his team in the slightest it won't be that bad anyway. Booing, songs about him and that would be that. I remember going to SMS when QPR beat us 2-1. It was all about the hatred redknapp was going to face and all that. it was alright but nothing like anticipated
Sour Mash Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 it won't be that bad anyway. Booing, songs about him and that would be that. I remember going to SMS when QPR beat us 2-1. Batman Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 The stick Lallana got did seem to affect him and was bad enough. true. he really went into his shell
Dark Munster Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 Don't fret, best so far, next year will be even better. Without Toby, Nathan and Morgan?
Whitey Grandad Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 Without Toby, Nathan and Morgan? There'll be others. Something will turn up
Matthew Le God Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 Regarding Harrison Reed's suspension in a non first team game, the FA website says... http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensions
The9 Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 The stick Lallana got did seem to affect him and was bad enough. true. he really went into his shell Weird, I thought the stick he got was practically non-existent, given that he only got booed when he touched the ball, and that was about twice.
Sour Mash Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 Surely the main point is that we lost, badly? Maybe being completely behind our own team and creating a better atmosphere would have changed that. Are you asking me?
Lets B Avenue Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 We have the pleasure of Jon Moss refereeing on Saturday. He has just been announced as the FA cup Final referee. A true reward for a season of consistent mediocrity.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 Please, can we just score a few goals. If we do that, I think we will probably win. Though I would take a clean sheet if I can't have the goals. At least that way Poch drops 2 points which will be damaging for him.
Dark Munster Posted 21 April, 2015 Posted 21 April, 2015 Saints 1 (Pelle) Spurs 1 (****ing Eriksen in the ****ing 88th minute)
Saint86 Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Completely disagree about Lallana. He hid the entire game and was totally anonymous. Lovren was all over the place as well, but that's probably due to him just being crap rather than the reaction to him. Some players thrive on getting stick, and some are so precious it gets to them. Lallana is certainly in the latter category and should be given dogs abuse every time he plays against us, not just because he's a ****, but because it affects his game Yes but we spent so much time as fans on creating that negative atmosphere and it clearly unsettled the team. We can not afford that against tottenham. On a side note, why am i reading on the BBC that their is a saints fan initiative for us to wear orange at the game in support of Koeman?
benjii Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Surely the main point is that we lost, badly? Maybe being completely behind our own team and creating a better atmosphere would have changed that. Nonsense. We were the better team, should have had at least one penalty and their GK could have been sent off.

We can not afford that against tottenham. On a side note, why am i reading on the BBC that their is a saints fan initiative for us to wear orange at the game in support of Koeman? Were you at that game? There was a great atmosphere at first, we had a penalty shout in the first minute that had it been on Sterling in front of the kop would have been given, we had another definite penalty shout turned down and were much the better team in the first half. We lost because Coutinho scored a wonder goal and they were then able to get everyone behind the ball and play on the break. The 'negative' atmosphere had nothing to with us losing and I'd argue in fact it helped us dominate the first half and with a bit of luck going our way we would have got more out of it. And by luck I really mean refereeing competence

Colinjb Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/32395860 Southampton fans are planning a 'Ronald Koeman Day' on Saturday and intend to wear orange in support of the former Dutch international, who replaced Pochettino as Saints manager. Are we?
The9 Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Are we? Well, this is the first mention of it on here, so I would say that is almost entirely without foundation as far as the fan base goes. Even stuff originating at the Ugly gets here within minutes (and there's no way that lot would be starting this kind of thing). It might get a bit of momentum now though, but personally I've already seen a few people oranging it up with Koeman shirts at previous games, and we generally do this kind of stuff in the last away match (which of course is City, which by then could be vital or an absolutely dead rubber). Absolutely cannot see it happening.
The9 Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Aha- Ronald Koeman day is being run by Unique Saints and you can follow them on Twitter here https://twitter.com/unique_saints. Plus a link on this article to some t-shirts you may wish to buy. So that'll be 5 blokes in orange tees then.

Jez Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Are we? That's exactly what I was going to say after reading that article. Good job I scrolled to the end of the thread first. As the game is televised, I'm sure the cameras will pick out those 5 blokes in orange t-shirts!
Griffo Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Anyone wearing orange on Saturday should be on the sex offenders register.
Beckenham Saint Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Lucky I didn't just buy a Koeman 1994 Holland kit for Koeman day before reading this thread!
Convict Colony Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 Expect to lose this, I think my optimism has been used up over the 2nd half of the season seeing as we couldn't score in a brothel recently.
The9 Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 I've been looking for a 1992 Barcelona away shirt (also orange) for some time for this kind of reason, I still probably wouldn't actually wear it to a match.
DT Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 The most important thing is the St Mary's crowd's response when their idiotic north london goons start singing our song, pretending it is theirs. I suggest a chant of 'you've only got one song...and it's ours!'
Matthew Le God Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 The most important thing is the St Mary's crowd's response when their idiotic north london goons start singing our song, pretending it is theirs. I suggest a chant of 'you've only got one song...and it's ours!' In the past the response to Spurs fans singing it has been to retort with... "We are Southampton, we sing our own songs".
DT Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 In the past the response to Spurs fans singing it has been to retort with... "We are Southampton, we sing our own songs". Ah! did not know that. Very good. They are such low-life
Bearsy Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 we should sing, like, "glory glory southampton football club"
Matthew Le God Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 From an interview done today... Simon Peach @SimonPeach 10m10 minutes ago Ronald Koeman says @AlderweireldTob's injury is "looking positive", so he could play against #THFC. He will have a clearer idea on Thursday.

Pancake Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 ignore How do you work that one out? Edit: ooh, cunning stealth edit there fella.
Mr Biscuits Posted 22 April, 2015 Posted 22 April, 2015 I'd like to see every saints fan at the stadium treating THE GREAT BETRAYER DAMN HIM AND ALL HIS CHILDREN FOR ETERNITY BUT I'M COMPLETELY OVER IT NOW with contempt and just ignoring him. Instead singing and yelling their hearts out for our team. We've done the booing thing plenty of times and it usually results in our team losing. In fact twitchy used to specifically try to wind our fans up every time he came here to create that toxic atmosphere. Our teams have never performed well in matches where a player or manager has come back and the fans spent the game concentrating on that manager/player rather than supporting our team.

Are we ? Probably organised by the white handkerchief brigade.
david in sweden Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 is it just me....or does anyone else put this down as the "biggest match of the season " ? IMO...even ranks above the win at Old Trafford (and that's saying something.....). I shall be glued to the TV and listening for the chants of... " one Ronald Koeman .." ....and await a victorious Saints' side leaving the pitch to the strains of ...." Don't cry for us Pochettino "..... if only.
Supersubpuckett Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 i think we will lose comfortably. We seem to have lost the edge we had and now play fairly ordinary football. Spurs play the high tempo stuff we used to and I think that will cause our defence all manner of issues with kane ready to take advantage. 1-3
Saint Charlie Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 (edited) Toby has a small fracture in his shoulder apparently. Wonder if you could play with that? Edit: Missing for a little while. Shame. Edited 23 April, 2015 by Saint Charlie

Convict Colony Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 Hahahaha this is an amusing article from Paddy Power on whether poch leaving made us better and spurs worse http://blog.paddypower.com/2015/04/22/has-poch-leaving-made-southampton-better-and-spurs-worse/?AFF_ID=16562

trousers Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 Koeman: "Gallagher won't be involved in the first team this weekend - we already have enough first team players at the moment"
James Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 Toby has a small fracture in his shoulder apparently. Wonder if you could play with that? Edit: Missing for a little while. Shame. Looks like dodgy info.
Window Cleaner Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 Koeman: "Gallagher won't be involved in the first team this weekend - we already have enough first team players at the moment" So basically RK doesn't rate Gallagher...seems like a categoric refusal to even try anything different even for 15 minutes at the end of a game.Must be a real downturn in situation for the lad.
suewhistle Posted 23 April, 2015 Posted 23 April, 2015 Eh? Talk about jumping to conclusions. What's the betting Koeman has already had a word with the player congratulating him and explaining how he views his progression? We don't know either way.
