SaintJackoInHurworth Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 I noticed earlier and advert for the Tories on the Saints website. I hope that the club are not getting political and that they have received a large fee for that to appear there. Considering a previous duck-hunting owner of the club got too involved with politics (with the Referendum Party - predecessors to UKIP), I hope that, whatever the political preferences of individuals within the club, those opinions will remain firmly outside of club dealings.
syd_barrett_saint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 They use Google Adwords for some of their website adverts. Saints probably don't even realise that the Tories have appeared on the site through that channel.

Is it on the site, or is it a pushed advert, e.g. through Adsense? If the latter, the website doesn't control what gets displayed, to a certain extent. In fact, ads are often personalized to the user, so maybe your internet search history points towards you being sympathetic to voting Tory or a possible swing voter.

Oh yeah, I meant Adsense, not Adwords - although they are two sides of the same Google ad system.
pap Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 This may be relevant. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/gavin-barwell-conservative-mp-blunder-1772319 Basically, SaintJackoInHurworth, Google thinks you love the Tories.
niceandfriendly Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 I'd actually like to see the club become more politically active. We need to lead on all fronts.

percy windham Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 We found out my fatherinlaw was looking to divorce the motherinlaw when adverts for quick divorces kept cropping up on websites.
sandwichsaint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 I've never seen an advert for the Tories on my computer .....

trousers Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 (edited) I keep seeing adverts for Bill Murray DVDs. Beats me. Edited 16 April, 2015 by trousers
Hatch Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 Well, thank god its only that, I thought the club had started taking money from dogging sites.

norwaysaint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 I can't believe so many people don't use ad-blocker.

farawaysaint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 The only ad I ever see is for a game that happens to match a politicians surname

Monkou Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 As others have said, the ads you see say much more about you than the club. I for example get adverts for penis extension and dating websites.. As for the club getting political, other than encouraging people to vote, they should probably keep clear. (Vote tory!)

Its odd though, because they all start the same way; "Dear Mrs Scott, further to your enquiry...."

By inference, all Tories have small cocks and are unattractive to women. Sounds about right.
