End of season predictor - just for fun

Recommended Posts

I did one a while a go a few times and we ended up 6th every time ahead of Spurs. However since then the form of one or two clubs above us has dipped.

I still think we'll finish 6th or 7th but it will still be a good season. A lot can happen in a short space of time though. Ask Man City.

Had Burnley for a last day win, but that relegation zone looks nailbiting to say the least.

Wasn't overly harsh on Spurs, yet still only get them to 65 - they have a tough set of fixtures. On the flip side, Liverpool and Man City have a fairly straightforward batch.

I had us in 7th which would be depressing. Spurs just a point above us with Liverpool two above us. The Spurs game is a huge one.

Still be enough for Europa League 3rd Qualifying Round in the likely event Arsenal or Liverpool win the FA Cup, and better than last season.

I'll be annoyed if we finish 3 points or less behind Liverpool, particularly after getting completely stitched up against them by Friend. They do have some nice fixtures though and by the time they play Chelsea the title might even be done and dusted. Hopefully the Chelsea players aren't all out on the lash that week. However: i) we do play twice in the league before Liverpool next play a league game so we have the chance to get a decent lead over them and apply some more pressure; and ii) Liverpool really aren't much cop so hopefully they make a mess of an "easy" fixture.

If we beat Spurs we will finish above them. If we draw with them we will probably finish above them. If they beat us I expect they will finish above us.

I reckon, optimistically, our results will go:

Stoke - win

Spurs - draw

Sunderland - win

Leicester - win

Villa - win

City - draw

70 points and fifth place. If we can make that five wins a draw we could still nick fourth but I think we'll run out of steam (first goal is absolutely crucial for us at the moment and it only takes one long-range strike/set-piece/dodgy penalty to go against us before we score for us to be in trouble in a match).

I just really, really, really do not want Liverpool to finish in the top four. I would rather Spurs did.

As with many others, my top 7 is:

1. Chelsea

2. Arsenal

3. Utd

4. Citeh

5. Liverpool

6. SAINTS

7. Spuds

Unfortunately, I really can't see us overhauling those ahead of us.

I have Hull, QPR and Sunderland going down; with Leicester, WBA and Burnley very close. I think it's going to be interesting at the bottom until the final day. It's nice not to be part of that!

With my "Saintsweb the world is ending" hat on, I had us never winning another game because we're rubbish and finishing 10th.

With my MLG hat on, I had us being awesome and finishing 4th be beating Man City on the last day.

Then wear the MLG hat and enjoy life.

I'm not sure how anyone can be totally realistic and end up with us in fourth. It's possible but pretty unlikely.

This. I don't need to do a prediction thing to know we won't finish fourth. 6th or 7th, hopeful of a Tottenham collapse and we make 6th. And that's your brilliant season right there.

It's fairly unlikely, but you can make a fairly easy case for winning our first 5 matches on a game-by-game basis, and you can make a pretty sound case for City continuing to bugger things up. The problem is that Liverpool's fixtures appear to be marginally easier than ours.

They do, but they also could have the Cup Final "Sponsored By Stevie G's effing Birthday" to worry about, plus extra mid week games due to the Semi final to fit in. We just need Lovern to stay fit........

A six game winning streak going into the last game of the season?

Not entirely sure how you can make a "fairly easy case" for that, but I am a miserable git*.

you have to take into account that we are in 'silly season' and there is bound to be unexpected results.....

I have us winning the league.

But this does involve ineligible players, flu outbreaks, lasagne poisoning and FFP breaches.

I think the battles for 4th/5th between Liverpool and Man City, and 6th/7th between us and Spurs will be the big stories.

i might be not giving us our proper dues but sadly I think it will be Chelsea, Arsenal, ManU, ManC (sneaking in), Liverpool, Spurs, Saints. Still a fantastic season though.

As I say, you can easily make a game-by-game case for us beating 5 sides which have been proven not to be as good as us over the 32 matches so far. Obviously probability is not in our favour in terms of achieving the best outcome from those games cumulatively.

you could make a case for us winning in MOST fixtures individually. But we wont.

Arsenal have done what? won 7 on the bounce. First time they have done that since the 'invincible' era 10 or so years ago

I think that simply put, we will get champions league if we are capable of beating man city last game of the season.

If we win that game I have us to get champions league.

But our performances against Arsenal (H), Man U (both games), and Chelsea (Away more than home) have shown us capable of winning that game - we need to be in a position that that match actually means something when we come to play it, and the 5 matches before it will be (only slightly less than) 5 times more important as the City game.

We should be favourites to win in all 5 of those matches, albeit narrowly over Spurs.

HOW POINTS ARE SCORED

PREDICTED TABLE

Based on your predictions, after Week 38 the table will be:

Pos Team Pld GD Pts

Would like to see Sunderland and Leicester go down. Probably Newcastle, too but it would take quite some doing for them to get relegated now. I'd like to actually see QPR stay up because I've got a mate who supports them and don't mind them now Saggy Chops has gone.

So, using the wisdom of crowds, based on the data above, the Final table, only slighted skewed by everyone being pro-Saints and probably slightly anti-Liverpool and Spurs (which doesn't look like it affects the final standings) looks like this:

Chelsea 89	POS: 1
Arsenal 80	POS: 2-3
Man U 76	POS: 2-4
Man C 75	POS: 3-4
Liverpool	69	POS: 5-7
Saints 68	POS: 5-7* from those who have specified pts. others have suggested 4th
Spurs 65	POS: 5-7

Bit worried if that Saints/Spurs bias is the difference in the one result between the two clubs.

I put that one down as a draw. But had us finishing 4 points clear of Spurs anyway.
