the saint in winchester Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 Judging by his facial expression, he isn't looking ahead with much relish. #suckingonalemon
VectisSaint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 All our problems solved Yep, hopefully we can find a gullible team to take him off our hands for next season if he is nearly fit again. Had high hopes for him beginning of season, but they were soon shattered once he actually got on the pitch.
Griffo Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 Any idea how many we've sold/how many we're off selling out? Saturday 3pm, isn't particularly expensive and is a big game for us. Should be selling the allocation out.
Sour Mash Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 Any idea how many we've sold/how many we're off selling out? Saturday 3pm, isn't particularly expensive and is a big game for us. Should be selling the allocation out. I think we've only sold out two full allocations this season, both in London, but this one and Leicester should be popular, £25 a ticket for Saturday is good.

Been on general sale for a while now. Doesn't look like we're going to sell out. Poor really.

os862saints Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 I think Tadic is worth a start. Looked creative against Hull.
Toadhall Saint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 Yes. How is that relevant anyway? Just wondering - and is relevant as your the one saying its poor that we haven't sold our allocation. Still you go and enjoy yourself.

John Boy Saint Posted 16 April, 2015 Posted 16 April, 2015 Just a little parking tip for those going up by car, as you take the exit for the Britannia Stadium when coming from the South, you will see a big BMW and Mini garage on your right, they have parking in their pound at the back it's a but more of a walk up hill but on leaving after the match you are away pretty sharpish and on the M6 heading for home, pretty sure Bucks Saint said he was back home Maidenhead way by 7:30 after parking there.
The Cat Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 You can park for free less than 10 minutes walk away and similarly be back on the motorway in no time. Go past the bottom of Stanley Matthews way, do a left up Church Lane. There's a housing estate where some, but not all of the street parking is permit only. Use the pathways to cut through the wooded area and you come out by Stoke's training ground. I park there everytime.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Stoke will be no push-over - they're a solid well drilled outfit that will be physical and pressing. Usually. If they leave us with the ball we could profit, however I think this is going to be a disappointing draw 1-1.
saintn Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Anyone know if you still get the Police escort from that weird pub near the station to the ground?

Saint Charlie Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 1-1 draw away to Stoke would be pretty decent, surely?
Yuki Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Anyone know if you still get the Police escort from that weird pub near the station to the ground? Not sure as haven't visited Stoke. But maybe look at other non-pub options? See if you can have a good day without alcohol for a change.
Matthew Le God Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 1-1 draw away to Stoke would be pretty decent, surely? Not if we want to get to reduce the gap from 5 to 2 points of Man City in the next 5 games, so when we play them on the final day of the season it means something for us.
Griffo Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 (edited) Not sure as haven't visited Stoke. But maybe look at other non-pub options? See if you can have a good day without alcohol for a change. You don't get this 'football' lark do you? Have you seen Saints play before? Edited 17 April, 2015 by Griffo
Colinjb Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Anyone know if you still get the Police escort from that weird pub near the station to the ground? Park at Fenton Bowls club, enjoy a civilized pint and oatcake and walk the 15-20m to the Brit from there. Jobs a good 'un.
The Cat Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 You don't get this 'football' lark do you? Have you seen Saints play before? I'm doing the Ceramic Trail and visiting some pottery museums before the game. I expect to arrive at the stadium 45 minutes before kick off to see the team warm up before asking the staff behind the kiosk for some hot water to make up my flask of tea. At half time I intend to queue up in a civilised way to treat myself to a chocolate bar and a packet of crisps. Afterwards I will hang around outside the stadium to cheer the players as they come out and wave the coach off.
The9 Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 "Heading is not his strength" is a fair statement. Calling him "dismal in the air" was what I had an issue with. There's just no need to use such negative hyperbole to describe one of your own players IMO Fair enough, I'll be sure to pay particular attention to his heading going forward.
The9 Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Any idea how many we've sold/how many we're off selling out? Saturday 3pm, isn't particularly expensive and is a big game for us. Should be selling the allocation out. It's the only match I'm not going to before the end of the season, my logic being... that I couldn't really be arsed. I've never actually seen Saints there, but having gone to Stoke v Brighton on the day Rochdale v Saints was called off, I can confirm that even without the hassle of being an away fan it was a fairly unpleasant place and a pain to get around, and that I don't really need to revisit it. Might wake up tomorrow feeling like a 370 mile drive but prob not.
The9 Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 To use your example, this is not the Yoshida who struggled against Lukaku when he was at WBA but the one who neutered him when we beat Everton a few months ago. Yoshida can sometimes struggle against more powerful and pacy forwards but that has more to do with his tendency to go tight as he tries to insert himself between attacker and direct ball. At times, this has seen him get turned and caused problems. Point A is far more to do with Lukaku not looking like the player he was for West Brom and Everton's problems than anything defenders have been doing. Agreed regarding his tendency to go tight - or as I've noticed, on occasions fly straight past the guy. I think he's improved that bit a lot since he's been with Saints, but notsomuch his heading.
davefizzy14 Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 I think Tadic is worth a start. Looked creative against Hull. Agreed. Hope this happens. Tadic is our most creative player.
Convict Colony Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Pelle/JWP both score so this weekend its Davis turn I would assume.
Colinjb Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Agreed. Hope this happens. Tadic is our most creative player. Creative and able to bring others into play by holding the ball up under pressure on the wing, letting our attacking midfields/strikers find space to receive the inevitable cross. Unlike Mane or the overlapping full backs whose pace gives them a massive threat but leaves the supporting attackers playing catch up.

Griffo Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 It's pay on the day tomorrow. Come on you f*ckers, if you're thinking of maybe going then pull your finger out and get up there. It's our best season in years.
Yuki Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 You don't get this 'football' lark do you? Have you seen Saints play before? I've been to the St Mary's stadium to watch the match versus Arsenal at new year. Was brilliant. Do you go to most games? Have fun at Stoke - hopefully we will be victorious and it is a fun trip for all the travelling fans. Is there much in the way of culture in that area?

Yuki Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 Good effort. It's a bit of a trek from Sussex. Your trains aren't the greatest. I am going to the Tottenham Hotspur game on April 25th (12.45) so am very excited about that. But will leave about 6 hours before the official start to make sure I get there. Hopefully see lots of you there too. Enjoy Stoke Griffo - great Saints fan.
Bad Wolf Posted 17 April, 2015 Posted 17 April, 2015 I knew we were playing Stoke away this weekend and I knew that Wanyama was suspended for the next two games but I never actually put the two things together and thought "Wanyama is suspended for Stoke away" (if that makes any sense). It only dawned on me today. It's a real bummer because this is exactly the sort of game that big tank of a beast would be perfect in.

bilbot79 Posted 18 April, 2015 Posted 18 April, 2015 I think this will be a tadic-pelle masterclass and we will go on to qualify for the champions league

Just also read on the official BPL site that Saints have not conceded more than one away goal in a match since the seasons opening weekend against Liverpool. That's an amazing stat.
