mcbendy Posted 3 August, 2015 Posted 3 August, 2015 That doesn't take into account the changes of system during a game. So you can't use that graphic to pin point down to one system. Koeman rarely uses one system for the entire game and switches back and forth. Yes, I accept that. I also accept that an attacking-phase formation can differ markedly from transitional phase and then a defensive-phase formation. However, in none of these formations do we operate with two orthodox banks of four! The old school formulaic defense, with the opposition attempting to "play between the lines" blaa blaa blaa.
Nolan Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 Interesting to see Caulker and Krychowiak have the same agent (according to transfermarkt) Sent from my HTC Desire 310 using Tapatalk
stevewanyamasfcs Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 Didn't know which thread to put this in so just shoved it in this one. Saints and Everton both after VVD and Koulibaly. Doubt we both want both players but Graeme Bailey is usually spot on. Can't we just take 1 each? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/08/04/southampton-and-everton-battle-for-koulibaly-and-van-dijk/

Crab Lungs Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 caulker is It appears he's not answering that because, surprise, he's wrong

Matthew Le God Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 It appears he's not answering that because, surprise, he's wrong Typical MLG Mr wrong strikes again. I didn't make a statement, I asked a rhtorical question. How is asking a rhetorical question like this... "wrong"? And that makes him good enough for Saints?
Dig Dig Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 I didn't make a statement, I asked a question. How is asking a question like this... "wrong"? What would be an acceptable answer? Why were you asking the question?
Crab Lungs Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 I didn't make a statement, I asked a rhtorical question. How is asking a rhetorical question like this... "wrong"? It's obvious what you're implying - that he's not good enough. Don't expect you to admit that you're wrong though, ever.
Matthew Le God Posted 4 August, 2015 Posted 4 August, 2015 What would be an acceptable answer? Why were you asking the question? A rhetorical doesn't require an answer.
doddisalegend Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 Leroy Fer. How come we aren't interested? Off to Sunderland they say.. Sky Sports News are reporting that Leroy Fer has failed a medical at Sunderland and will return to QPR.
Plastic Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 A rhetorical doesn't require an answer. Certainly not an answer that makes you look foolish. However answers that reinforce your implication are probably acceptable?* *rhetorical
Dig Dig Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 A rhetorical doesn't require an answer. You added the rhetorical bit in after my post. At that point it was just a question.
Matthew Le God Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 (edited) You added the rhetorical bit in after my post. At that point it was just a question. No I didn't. My original post was 5 hours before yours and has had no edits. Edited 5 August, 2015 by Matthew Le God

Wiggles31 Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 Yeah please end the kn*b measuring contest. Any new links?
Pilchards Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 Adama close to signing for Stoke after meeting officials today for lunch. According to the Stoke ITK (on Twitter) a few days ago Saints may hijack the deal but nothing about us since.

SNSUN Posted 5 August, 2015 Posted 5 August, 2015 Hughes really likes the Barcelona rejects doesn't he! ("Rejects" used in loose sense.) They'll be called Barstokelona before long...
Saint Charlie Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Koeman's "one or two" in for the Newcastle game now seems unlikely.
Batman Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Koeman's "one or two" in for the Newcastle game now seems unlikely. seems that way. shame
Pancake Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Koeman's "one or two" in for the Newcastle game now seems unlikely. Conspiracy theorist in me likes to think this hamstring injury means he has a valid excuse to be away from the first team and near a medical institution.
St Chalet Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 A rhetorical doesn't require an answer. In that case, could I ask you to treat everyone's posts as rhetorical questions.
InvictaSaint Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 Koeman's "one or two" in for the Newcastle game now seems unlikely. True, but I suppose the chances of any new signings walking straight into the side for Sunday would have been very slim anyway. The club will have been preparing for the game based on staff available, so I am not unduly concerned. Still a month or so of the window to go and I am sure we will get the players we need.

Yeah I agree and not concerned we won't get the players we need, just that he sounded hopeful of someone arriving this week and whilst that may still happen, it looks unlikely now. VVD was surely unlikely to sign this week anyway due to their CL game and status, so wonder who he was thinking of as a possible.
farawaysaint Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 In that case, could I ask you to treat everyone's posts as rhetorical questions. Ok, I know you're a mod and all and shouldn't say stuff like that but
angelman Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 In that case, could I ask you to treat everyone's posts as rhetorical questions. I take it that this is a rhetorical question? Or maybe as there was a lack of a question mark, it was an order.
Bad Wolf Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 When would any signings have to be done by in order for them to be able to play at the weekend?
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 6 August, 2015 Posted 6 August, 2015 When would any signings have to be done by in order for them to be able to play at the weekend? Unless the rules have changed this season, I think they need to be registered by midday on the Friday.
Gulle Posted 8 August, 2015 Posted 8 August, 2015 The more i watch him play, the more i would like to have Vardy as competition for Pelle. He is seriously on fire..
Saint Matty 76 Posted 8 August, 2015 Posted 8 August, 2015 The more i watch him play, the more i would like to have Vardy as competition for Pelle. He is seriously on fire.. No thanks, bang average player.
Baird of the land Posted 8 August, 2015 Posted 8 August, 2015 Someone who i see seems very out of favour at Swansea is Nathan Dyer. Wouldn't mind bringing a maturer dyer back to Saints.

ally_uk Posted 8 August, 2015 Posted 8 August, 2015 I would take Dyer as well pace ability to beat a man and scores the odd goal get him in
Redslo Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I would take Dyer as well pace ability to beat a man and scores the odd goal get him in He would also count as club trained for European purposes and would not use up a roster spot--we could register 23 players instead of 22.
EBS1980 Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I would take Dyer as well pace ability to beat a man and scores the odd goal get him in Why would he swap not making the Swansea team for not making the Saints team??
farawaysaint Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Why would he swap not making the Swansea team for not making the Saints team?? $$$$$
S-Clarke Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Why would we need Dyer? CB and CDM are the 2 positions left to add to. If there is a 'bonus' 3rd signing, then I'd imagine it would be another striker.
Webby Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I read a post here that said we were after a CB (vvd) and a midfielder with premier league experience. Now, who could that be? Seriously, any names?

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 Weren't we linked with Jedinak couple of days ago? Edit: Beaten for pace by S-Clarke...
Crab Lungs Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 FWIW, here's my window must-haves; To fill the Alderweireld-shaped hole... (one from) Balls out: Aleksandar Dragovic, £11m, Nicolas N'Koulou, £9.1m (both left-sided CB's) Cheaper alternative: Rami Gershon, £3m, (another left-sided CB, very rugged, unpolished though) To fill the Morgan-shaped hole...(one from) Balls out: Grzegorz Krychowiak, £20m, Maxine Gonalons, £14m Cheaper alternative: Alex Song, £7m (though probably not with the wages involved), Mile Jedinak, £8m A little something extra... Also someone I think would suit our style of play is Ki at Swansea. Would be a great little squad player if we could get him. That said, so would have Jack Cork. If you had £30m to strengthen the squad before the window closes, who would you (realistically) attempt to sign and in what positions do you think we're lacking in? Think I'll just reiterate this again. That said, looks like my choice of CB won't be happening.
Saint Martini Posted 9 August, 2015 Posted 9 August, 2015 I'm starting to think we might be interested in Hector Moreno from Espanyol. He was on his way to PSV but the deal had collapsed in the last few hours. Espanyol seem to think they can get more for him then the €4m PSV have offered. He's a leftsided central defender and had played for Koeman at AZ in 2009. Maybe we're the ones willing to pay a bit more then PSV?

Saint Garrett Posted 10 August, 2015 Posted 10 August, 2015 So who do we reckon is going to come in then, Ronald has made it clear he wants "2 or 3 more". VVD, Praet....DM? Still think we need someone to come in who is bigger than 5ft like the rest of our DM's apart from Vic.
SuperSAINT Posted 10 August, 2015 Posted 10 August, 2015 Still hoping we make a late window bid for Eva Carneiro @ Chelsea after Jose had a pop at her after the Swansea game.
