Doesn't matter what Celtic do in the CL if Van Dijk has decided to leave.

With Clasie now signed up, we can move onto the next one - hopefully VVD.

I think they just want to keep their best players long enough to help them qualify. Same as what happened with Forster and Wanyama. Qualify is a lot of money for them.

Blimey, sensible stuff on the Celtic forum. And balanced too. That can't be a real football forum...

Probably difficult to find much to get upset about when your club has no rivals and basically ****es all over the rest of your countries football teams?

If we get Virgil I will officially call it a very decent transfer window.

It'd be good, but most of what we've bought so far are replacements for those that have left. I still think we need to strengthen the bench and/or have different options.

Summary: if they don't reach the group stage he'll probably leave.

It's not exactly a short journey though, so there's still hope they will get knocked out:

I can't imagine its that much of a factor. And I hope that we're not basing our recruitment policy on waiting around for a while hanging on Celtic results.

Craig Noone? Nah, he's a winger for Cardiff, doubt he cares about Celtic's results either.

Virgil Van Dijk has favourited two tweets - one being our official announcement of Clasie joining, and the other being Jordy Clasie announcing he has joined. I have no idea if they are friends or whatever, could there be something in this?

Not rumoured but if we are after another CM as Guan says I've always rated Michael Bradley who now plays for Toronto FC in the MLS, he's a 27 yr old , energetic, technically good midfielder in his prime and far too good to be in that league at his age.

In summary then, for Celtic, they may have:

Third qualifying round

The first legs will be played on 28 and 29 July, and the second legs will be played on 4 and 5 August 2015.

Play-off round

The first legs will be played on 18 and 19 August, and the second legs will be played on 25 and 26 August 2015.

If signing him does depend on Celtic going out before group stages, the latest we may get him is after 26th August. Not ideal.

Yes, agree. We want to be getting our players on the bus ready for our season. And what if they qualify for the CL proper? It could be into September. They did this with Wanyama, but I hope we can get him released to suit our timetable, rather than Celtic's.

Yes, Michael Bradley would be good. Not sure there is any intel on US players in the famed Black Box, however.

Bradley's wages are huge so can't see that happening. Decent player but rather have Clasie and Vic.

Giovinco though has been brilliant, but again DP wages.

There is lots about him in the black box given the easy availability of MLS video.

That being said, there is little chance he would be available before January since Toronto is in a tight play off race and will need him to keep (or improve) their place in the standings. (Standings is correct because it is a North American league.) Also, he appears to be on 80K pounds per week so he is too expensive for us.

Giovinco is reported to be on 86K pounds per week.

Please note that I am using google, not Football Manager for these numbers. I am not sure if that is better or worse.

Barcelona are willing to let Arda Turan go out on loan to a team not in the Champions League… :D

Id take him for 6 months but depends on how much wage we'd hAve to pay. More of a signing for Liverpool TBF.

Being reported (by Alan Nixon for one, but also in the Netherlands) than an unnamed English club are trying to hijack Villa's move for Tjarron Chery - 27 year old midfielder from Groningen.

Saints...?

I wouldn't have thought so, why would we go for him?

Think it's QPR.

Hmm Villa or QPR. Think I'd rather stay in Groningen. Or stab myself in the eye with a rusty nail.

No you' take the mega pay day at Villa and the opportunity to prove yourself in the best paying league in the world

There are few on Twitter mentioning Arda Turan on loan till January, now that would be awesome.

No doubt they read posts 2496 and 2499 then took to twitter

Due to the fact we're playing the toughest unseeded team in the Europa draw in less than 2 weeks hopefully this will ramp up the proceedings of us getting in a quality defender.

Unless we get someone in the next day or two I'd rather play Yoshida, as someone who knows the team and has plenty of experience next to Fonte.
