Seems like if you are keen to make a loan deal permanent, you wouldn't imply that said player was rubbish after Christmas.

Think they blame Big Sam for his drop in form.

Think they blame big Sam for the sky being blue. He did a decent job for them, in reality, but WHU fans being what they are they couldn't see it.

Is Song really any better than Reed??

I'd rather have the latter in the side tbh.

I prefer it if he continues as Executive Director personally, not sure Song would fit into the Board Room, unless he is seen as a long term replacement for Ralph.

Ayew on 70k a week st Swansea apparently.

With this new TV deal that is bound to happen, PL clubs can overpower others in Europe financially.

No transfer fee usually equates to higher salries for decent players.

Cynic alert - a big reason why Clyne is happy to stay and let his contract run out.

If you read the article it says we've bid £9million and he has a £22million release clause. Just says they want closer to that.

maybe £15m then. but cant see us going any higher than that

On the other hand he is Polish so probably already has family in Southampton. Just need him to do a Lovern to his parent club....

He is said to be desperate to leave behind Champions League football and has already told friends he would turn down the rumoured interest of Arsenal to join the fastest growing sports brand of Southampton FC

MAGPIES IN FOR AUSTIN

Newcastle are closing in on a deal to sign QPR striker Charlie Austin, who is keen to join the club, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

The R's front man is currently away on international duty with England and a fee is yet to be agreed between the two clubs.

However, Newcastle are confident are getting their man as they believe St James' Park is his preferred destination this summer.

That would be very disappointing.

I thought the deal was done and we were signing him?

Never seen him play but he scored 8 in 34 La Liga apps last season and he's 22 years old.

Would be a likely target for Manure however meaning they may cool their interest in Morgan.

Nowhere near as good on the defensive tasks really, Cabaye is a bit of an in-between player who's fading fast.

He's a bit of a fragile flower as well.

That's a bit of a worry

I had a tip from a decent source at St Marys that Cabaye was a strong contender to replace Schneiderlin if he goes but it appears Cabaye would not be a like for like replacement

I couldn't remember what type of player Cabaye was.

The other bit of news from this source is that a deal with Charlie Austin is getting closer to completion but this only reinforces speculation elsewhere on the forum

Austin is 2-9 to sign for Newcastle and 8-1 to sign for us. If anyone has inside info they could make a packet if he ends up with us.

We're 5-1 on Skybet.

I look on Oddschecker that gives the best possible odds anywhere, it's 8-1 with Bet Victor but 5-1 other places. Austin is now 1-7 on Skybet to join Newcastle, still decent odds to join us if someone has inside info.

I see Cabaye as a West Ham sort of signing myself, he'll not want to take a pay-cut.
