Saint_Tony Posted 5 April, 2015 Share Posted 5 April, 2015 Spurs very poor, they never look up for the fight when teams get in their face. You have to admire Burnley for their work rate and effort. They just lack any real quality, bit too much hoofball going on. Still the better team though.

Saint_Tony Posted 5 April, 2015 Share Posted 5 April, 2015 Eugh, 7th. I know it's not that bad but after our season it feels it. Remember where we were 5 years ago! In all seriousness, I know how you feel. In early January things were looking so good. I'm beginning to wonder whether the players had the belief, it was a position we'd not been in, maybe there was too much pressure? And that's not a criticism. I just felt like we after the wins against Arsenal and United we were back on the right track. The beginning of the end was the Swansea and West Ham games. We should have taken a minimum of 4 points from those. We really have to battle to finish above at least one of Spurs or Liverpool.

He has never been remotely close to good enough for a team challenging for the top 6 of the Premier League. To get in Southampton's team now you have to be of a decent international level, or at the very least be on the fringes of your national side. S-Clarke Posted 6 April, 2015 Share Posted 6 April, 2015 Bournemouth 4-2 now. They're going to do it, aren't they? Looks like 2 from 4 (B'mouth, Watford, Boro, Norwich) But Wigan look long gone now.......heading back to their pure level.

Window Cleaner Posted 6 April, 2015 Share Posted 6 April, 2015 In other news, Wigan have sacked Malky Mckay. What's the point...? Point of what, perhaps the FA should instigate a remedial year for all managers dismissed by their previous clubs who've descended from the PL. He no doubt got a settlement from Cardiff, now as likely as not he'll get another one from Wigan, money for old rope really.

Huddersfield especially, the feckers would just not go away lol Beating plymouth away to seal promotion was brilliant. Proper away day I remember that day too. Woke up to hear Bin Laden had been shot, flew out to Ibiza and Saints got promoted. The run in was mental. We won 13 of our last 15 games and still only just made it. I went to the Rochdale game too which we lost in the middle of that amazing run. Sat in traffic on the M5 and M6 for about 7 hours and only just made kick off, despite leaving early enough for a late afternoon in the pub. One the way home my mate said, "if anyone asks we spent the afternoon bumming each other. It's much less embarrassing." Pretty much summed up that trip. S-Clarke Posted 6 April, 2015 Share Posted 6 April, 2015 Perhaps we can catch Citeh up? ;-) You jest, but if this stays as it is, we beat Hull and Utd beat City in the derby, we'd be amazingly just 5 points away from them. Although their run-in after that looks 'straight forward', with 3 home games back to back. Obviously we won't finish 4th, but at least keeps it all a little interesting as we head into the final weeks.

Lighthouse Posted 6 April, 2015 Share Posted 6 April, 2015 City's starting line up from tonight: Hart - 27 Will be 28 in a couple of weeks Sagna - 32 Kompany - 28 Will be 29 on Saturday Clichy - 29 - Will be 30 start of next season Demichelis - 34 Navas - 29 Silva - 29 Fernandino - 29 Will be 30 next month Yaya Toure - 31 Will be 32 next month Aguero - 26 Dzeko - 29 I'm wondering what direction that club is going. They will pretty much have to replace that entire team, bar Aguero and Hart, in the next 2 seasons. They haven't exactly got spring chickens in the rest of the squad; Zabaletta, Milner, Lampard. 28 year old Nasri will probably be one of their younger players next season. Their transfer policy over the last 3 seasons has been nothing short of diabolical. No forward thinking, no long-term plan it seems. Fernandinho - Okay, but was signed when he was 28/29, so not exactly thinking ahead Jovetic - Young player, but no impact what so ever. Spent more time on the bench and injured. Failed. Negredo - Started ok, drifted off, and is now at Valencia Navas - Never done it really, flits in and out of games. Not great. Demichelis - Poor aging player, not up to the pace. Javi Garcia - Rubbish, horrendous signing. Natasic - He wasn't bad, but was shipped out to Germany. Rodwell - Abysmal. Signed just to keep their British player count up. Sinclair - Ditto Mangala - Disaster. £30m for what? Fernando - Rubbish, most city fans would agree. So fair enough, they do need to replace a lot of that side....but I'd get rid of whoever has made the decisions in recent years and start a fresh..... There is always a big club in 'crisis' . On a different day they could have hammered Palace. Also the team that most comprehensively outplayed us this season. The real question is how do they rebuilt given the limitations of FFP. I forsee significant difficulties for them. Their players are highly paid so new players will expect the same. They are unlikely to get any where near all their money back from any of the older players. I am hoping their off season is more interesting than ours.
