Mole Posted 1 January, 2009 Posted 1 January, 2009 Rather a Nanny-State "Dictatorship" than the one you advocate. DSM which one would that be? You were a little confused the last time you tried to engage with me on intelectual matters.
CabbageFace Posted 1 January, 2009 Posted 1 January, 2009 There is no real hard evidence that links smoking to cancer or any other degenerative diseases. So crack open a pack of snouts and start smoking, fella. I was told by my GP it is a cure for Asthma, so weezy get a toking. xxx

I have lost many friends and relatives to smoking and I would encourage anyone who is willing to listen that they should give up whilst there is still time.
rpb Posted 1 January, 2009 Posted 1 January, 2009 But you are drug addicts, it is a dirty drug and this thread is concerned with wanting special consideration for taking drugs. We know that - it was established ages ago that smoking is a foul (but legal) habit - read the thread! The 'special consideration' is to go outside (away from you pure clean-living individuals) at half time and have a cigarette - why does that upset you?
Micky Posted 1 January, 2009 Posted 1 January, 2009 I don't have a problem with people organising mass demonstrations and they won't affect my health, someone smoking in the concourse will. If smokers really wanted to get something done about smoking outside why don't you get a petition going rather than come moaning on here, it will have more effect and I don't personally have a problem with it. However if the club reject whatever proposal you put forward then you still have to obey the law, afterall the law is there to protect the non smokers who don't want to become passive smokers and are happy with the no smoking ban. Laughable - hello - he doesn't want to smoke on the concourse. (He did have a crafty few puffs there though, and that might well be terminal for you if you were one of the 15000 or so that were withn 100 meters of him when he committed that cardinal sin). Again you appear to be playing moderator and trying to regulate what can and cannot be discussed here. You seem to think that he wants the ban lifted - he doesn't - he wants some arrangement in place to be able to smoke safely away from non smokers. No more no less. Honestly guys - he wants a cigarette - it ain't the end of the world. BTW - Should we also get a petition going to: Get a centre back Remove Lowe Remove Wilde Get Corke back Organise a mass demo ...or perhaps just discuss the possibilities here on the forum.

I recently had a lung test at work and was told i have the lungs of a 67 year old. I started smoking when i was 11 but think the damage was done in my teens when me and my mates caned a lot of draw. I reckon i may try giving up again in a few months once i've got through my duty frees.

Matty's Caddy Posted 2 January, 2009 Author Posted 2 January, 2009 its no smokeing inside that ground ,you knew that when you go in,you got the choice either to go to the ground or not. the club has stated its position , its not the end of the world is it.they may lose your custum and money but thats the clubs choice. solent, you are quite right in every point that you make are you quite happy with the clubs stance on this issue? will you be happy for me, and others like me, to not bother attending SMS from now on? it would be interesting to have a vote to see how people feel a) allow them out at half time b) **** 'em, we dont want their sort in here etc, etc just trying to bring this thread to a close really
offix Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Wow, 3 pages about a non-issue. I am a smoker myself, but when I am ANYWHERE where smoking is not allowed, I don't smoke. It's really THAT SIMPLE and this didn't need 1 post, let alone 3 pages!

scott_saints Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I smoke every game at half time along with many others. It's easy not to get caught.
trousers Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I should be allowed to unrinate around my seat... That's what I do. It warms you up on a cold day and is perfectly legal too. The smell can also mask the whiff of smoke from the surreptitious smokers. Everyone's a winner.
Norm Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I smoke every game at half time along with many others. It's easy not to get caught. Look at me! I'm 'Hard' Do you also smoke in the school playground?
scott_saints Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Look at me! I'm 'Hard' Do you also smoke in the school playground? No, due to me not being of school age. I do however, smoke at work. If this helps?
OldNick Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Im a nonsmaoker and am pleased that there is a ban.Having said that I still think it would be correct for an area out of the ground where a pen was made to allow smokers to enjoy a fag. I understand that the econoimics and stewardship of this is a major problem. Either way the club cant win.
OldNick Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 No, due to me not being of school age. I do however, smoke at work. If this helps?I suppose you are one of those who go into the loos to sneak a puff (not poof )

The Majestic Channon Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 I should be allowed to unrinate around my seat...i mean...a degree of tolerance should be afforded to me IMO Feel free, the only seat you sit in is the one your'e sitting in now afterall,be warned though, if it gets so uncomfortable you have to have it surgically removed from your ass you might actually have to leave the house!

scott_saints Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 Until someone decides to dob you in. This has happened once when a bloke got all arsey so I laughed at him. He told the stewards who then asked me to stop smoking, which I did. I then laughed at the bloke for a second time.

I then laughed at the bloke for a second time. That is the most impressive thing I have read on here in years. I wish I could have friends like you. Regarding arsey, I was in Soton today and I was in the queue in Matalan. In front of me was a young man (16?) with his jeans around his knees and his grey underpants on show (skid mark and all!). Where did this new 'fashion' come from? Sort of reminded me of the post above. Can we finish with the smoking thread and have one on 'Showing your underpants/Boxers/G-string/Thong' ?

Norm Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 What, you don't like this look? I think it's a perfect illustration of their IQ. Funny thing is, my late dear Dad wore his trousers just like that! Mind you, he did have severe dementia:rolleyes: Still, as my wife often tells me, "What do you know about anything, especially fashion!" My wife wants to know how they keep them up? Is it something around the front area. The mind boggles. Great pic, R. Thanks for that:D

Torbay Saint Posted 2 January, 2009 Posted 2 January, 2009 i was ejected from the ground at half time on sunday for smoking in the concourse. i know what all you goody goodies are gonna say and maybe quite rightly so, but, after queueing for a beer for ages and the game about to restart, i found a quiet corner away from everybody else and what i thought was out of sight of the gestapo and tried to have a few quick puffs. big mistake, over came half a dozen of the clubs finest and threw me out. i had a few choice words for him, (i'd had a few beers) but went fairly quietly. this brings me to my point i've been finding it pretty easy to miss games as it is, can't make evenings, quite a few on tv etc, you get out the habit, but as i said at the start of the season, i will not go untill i can go for a fag at half time in a designated smoking area. obviously, i let that one slip a bit but now i am determined not to set foot in there untill i am catered for. A quiet corner in St. Mary's?? Under Lowe's regime?? Never!
Matty's Caddy Posted 3 January, 2009 Author Posted 3 January, 2009 A quiet corner in St. Mary's?? Under Lowe's regime?? Never! wait till div 1 next year, they'll be plenty

Iowsaintsfan Posted 16 March, 2009 Posted 16 March, 2009 As a non smoker, i actually dont mind it at football, infact everytime i smell a cigar it reminds me of the days at The Dell. I know that many of you have a quick few puffs at half time, or even during the game, i for 1 is not bothered though dont expect every other non smoker to think the same.

The only trouble with passive smoking is that it delays your response to posts on some message board threads by nearly three months. Nasty.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 Well thats two mistakes then - 1st the sneaky illegal fag and then coming on here expecting sympathy. Pathetic.
PhilippineSaint Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 and if fawley shutdown how many more fans could not go due to financial reasons. NB i dont work there or want to work there but Exxon pays a lot of hampshires expenses.
scott_saints Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 Update- Still smoking regularly at half time and still not getting caught. So smokers, if you wanna do it then do it!
Frank's cousin Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 'spose they could have a 'smoking stand' as its outside?
eelpie Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 Inhaling other's cigarette smoke -even in the street - gives me immediate asthma which is very disconcerting and unpleasant, and my illness is not even chronic. Others are less fortunate.
londonsaint1604 Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 Update- Still smoking regularly at half time and still not getting caught. So smokers, if you wanna do it then do it! I used to get away with it in the toilets with no problem but I got caught out in the cardiff game and was ejected! Fortunately the game finished 1-0 so it could have been worse but it seemed a bit petty to me. I've since stopped smoking so it's not a problem now.

ozzmeister Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 Hmmm just a thought (and Im not a smoker btw) but someone ementioned that to be able to smoke u need to be in an open area right. What would be the pheasability of having a 'smoking' stand. That would then give people the choice and a trade off I guess between habit, and whether they would forfeit there normal seat? Thought.....

That might be considered a 'substantailly enclosed' building: Premises are considered 'substantially enclosed' if they have a ceiling or roof, but have an opening in the walls, which is less than half the total area of the walls.
londonsaint1604 Posted 17 March, 2009 Posted 17 March, 2009 I'm fairly sure that football grounds weren't included in the smoking ban but the football league chose to impose its own ban on it anyway.

I think it depends on the stadium design, but if you're really interested you can download a document from the FA site: http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/ContactUs/Postings/2006/04/SmokingStadia.htm
