Poggs Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Whilst driving past Staplewood this morning I saw an enormous structure looming over the hedge. I'm sure it wasn't there before. Assume it's a new cover for one of the pitches. It needs a nick name.

Beckenham Saint Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Yes, definitely, it needs a nickname. Hope it's as witty as Wreck it Ralph and Gashtón!
Matthew Le God Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 (edited) Yes, definitely, it needs a nickname. Hope it's as witty as Wreck it Ralph and Gashtón! Its huge and it looks like the Eden Project in Cornwall... Perhaps with the Koeman Dutch connection... The Edam Project. Edited 31 March, 2015 by Matthew Le God
niceandfriendly Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Oooh was hoping someone had found a new shroom picking spot.
Beckenham Saint Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Its huge and it looks like the Eden Project in Cornwall... Perhaps with he Koeman Dutch connection... The Edam Project. I look forward to seeing you try and fit all that into 140 characters for a tweet later on, MLG!
Matthew Le God Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 (edited) I could do it with characters to spare! Edited 31 March, 2015 by Matthew Le God
ladysaint Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Is it the one that was there previously which has been moved or an entirely new one. It's been there about a week now.
doggface Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Is it the one that was there previously which has been moved or an entirely new one. It's been there about a week now. The old one had structural issues and was ripped down. I think it was originally behind the now ML Pavilion. So yes, new location. 4G pitch was done 1st of course.
Matthew Le God Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 (edited) Is it the one that was there previously which has been moved or an entirely new one. It's been there about a week now. Its a different dome, the new one is inflatable from this company... http://covair.co.uk The old one had a steel structure to it, with brickwork for attached offices, meeting rooms and gym. Convict Colony Posted 31 March, 2015 Posted 31 March, 2015 Its huge and it looks like the Eden Project in Cornwall... Perhaps with the Koeman Dutch connection... The Edam Project. Fark imagine the puncture repair kit you need if it starts leaking
Give it to Ron Posted 2 April, 2015 Posted 2 April, 2015 Its huge and it looks like the Eden Project in Cornwall... Its the biggest in Europe
david in sweden Posted 2 April, 2015 Posted 2 April, 2015 An enclosed encounter .......just play the 5 tones and we can we expect to see Steven Spielberg leading out the under 8's........ ..... just as long as it doesn't take off in the wind.
hackedoff Posted 2 April, 2015 Posted 2 April, 2015 Apparently this can be hired for all types of events, kids parties, wedding receptions, conferences etc. Osvaldo has already booked it for a " party" in June , I believe.
Charlie Wayman Posted 2 April, 2015 Posted 2 April, 2015 Welcome to "The Pleasure Dome" Frankie goes to Staplewood?
Saint-Armstrong Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 Couple of snaps from the kit photo-shoots inside the Staplewood Dome.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 Must be like playing football in a spaceship.
S-Clarke Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 It does look damn impressive to be honest. As a potential player or coaching staff, you couldn't fail to be impressed by our facilities. Top level.
Batman Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 It does look damn impressive to be honest. As a potential player or coaching staff, you couldn't fail to be impressed by our facilities. Top level. surely, most decent premier league sides have top notch training facilities these days?
Matthew Le God Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 surely, most decent premier league sides have top notch training facilities these days? Only a handful have spent £40m on an upgrade, like Saints are doing.
Batman Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 Only a handful have spent £40m on an upgrade, like Saints are doing. so? just saying many decent prem clubs have top training facilities. regardless if we are spending £100m to get ours to that level
krissyboy31 Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 so? just saying many decent prem clubs have top training facilities. regardless if we are spending £100m to get ours to that level To be fair many clubs are still renting council facilities or using local universities. Outside the big 6, I think only Stoke has facilities to rival ours. Man City will be taking it to a different level, when theirs is complete but ours is damned good and is ongoing.
Matthew Le God Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 Outside the big 6, I think only Stoke has facilities to rival ours. Ours is on a completely different scale, scope and specification to Stoke's. Theirs only cost £13m, compared to the eventual £40m at Staplewood.
Dalek2003 Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 The inside of the Dalek mother ship ALERT ! ALERT !
djharvey Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 When you consider the pics are on the half way line you realise just how massive that blimp is! The pitch is very nearly full size.
david in sweden Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 Must be like playing football in a spaceship. nonsense! ....just beam me up Les........
TwoPints Posted 19 June, 2015 Posted 19 June, 2015 Wow, that does look cool. Sent from my Nexus 10 using Tapatalk

It's funny really, when that old dome was announced not even 10 years ago it was the height of cool, the club were so proud. Now it seems so small and outdated. Also, look at how tiny the doors look in the wall!!!! Also, how good does the green kit look there
sandwichsaint Posted 20 June, 2015 Posted 20 June, 2015 Fark imagine the puncture repair kit you need if it starts leaking We used to go to a hockey tour at Old Loughts every year, their club is adjacent to the Spurs training ground and one of the pitches for the festival was their dome, cue everybody getting there 15 minutes early for their matches, binning the hockey kit and booting a football around for a warm-up. Played in it several times and it was always very hot, plus some bright spark decided that we'd play on the full size football pitch which was absolutely enormous for hockey. Anyway we all turned up for our kick about as per usual, about 4 o'clock in the afternoon on a hot summer's day. Enter an umpire that had never been in there before, hot in here isn't it lads, i think i'm going to open these fire doors over there. Knowing nods from all of us (we'd all had a skinfull of beer, this will be good ... ...). You enter the dome through a double door/airlock type arrangement ..... matey boldy pushes open the two double fire doors and we kick off .... but not for long, I can reliably report that a large dome can become a much smaller dome quite quickly.....!
